- If it was 2wd I would say you could probably do it yourself. However, the locking hub assemblies on 4wd need special tools and are a lot more complex than a standard truck front hub. This is definitely a shop job. Also it may not be the bearings themselves but the front driveaxles may have some problems. Ask a shop to verify exactly what is wrong first. Good luck.

- Wheel bearings are designed to last around 100,000 miles give or take. It is not uncommon to have them last as long as the car. Normally, if your mechanic is good and thorough, they will be inspected every time you get a brake job (approximately every 35-50,000 miles) and re-packed with grease if necessary at little or no cost.

- You'll need a brass punch. The oil seals bearings come out easy enough but use the brass punch to knock out the races. The new bearings will come with new races. An arbor press is best to press in the new races but you can use the brass punch and carefully tap them in making sure they go in straight and evenly as you gently tap all around them in. Take your time and make sure the races are bottomed out. Pack bearing grease into the bearings before installing them. Hope this helps.

- If you used a bearing the same size as the average paintball, it may not go very far. A burst of air is what propels a paintball a paintball is definitely lighter than a ball bearing. There may not be enough air pressure to propel the metal bearing. If you use a bulk of smaller bearings, like a buckshot effect, those would barely come out at all. There'd be too much air blown around the smaller bearings, resulting in little air to actually propel the bearings. The reason it wouldn't come out as fast or far as a bb or airsoft gun is because a paintball gun isn't DESIGNED to shoot bb's. In any case, it isn't a safe experiment. If you were to try it, better make sure you take every possible safety precaution. And use your own gun, either buying a used junker or something cheap. As for the damage to the gun, there'll be some scratching/denting of the breech, bolt inside the barrel. Won't exactly break the gun completely but it won't shoot paint the same afterwards.

- I'd agree with the previous answerer that you don't want cheap parts, after all you're the one who will be driving if they fail. Don't know where you live but in most areas you can go to one of the major auto parts stores and find the right bearings for the same price as those on the web and... the big advantage is that they can probably tell you if you'll need just the bearings or something else, plus you won't pay for shipping. One other point is that if you buy from the local store in most cases you'll find they have a warranty that will be a bit easier to use if it becomes necessary.
