Q:I am going to move into a home that has ugly green and yellowish tile all over the kitchen!! The walls and sink are green, the counters are a wood laminate, the floor is an old beige vinyl, and the cabinets are a dark color and are old and dated. What can i do to make this kitchen much nicer on a really tight budget?! Help!!
You okorder / and in the search bar (make sure you check site instead of recipe) type in 4 Wall Projects with Glaze it is the 3rd project called Tile Turnaround and gives step by step instructions. Good Luck!
Q:This is what I need some information on. I decided to put some floor tile in front of my door in my living room where some carpet is. So what size should I cut out of the carpet where I‘m going to put the tile ? If you have any advice how I should go about this just let me know. You no something like the dos as well as the don‘ts
if you have a grinder use it to smooth out the cement or at least scrape it down with heavy scraper. This is something that your professional installer guy should have done when he poured your pan. you need it smooth surface to lay the tile. I'm assuming your laying 1 or 2 tiles with the pan sloping to the drain. If you have any chuncks on the pan it will make you tile look bad and won't set properly.
Q:how to install the tin molding around the edge of the tiles
I wallpapered the ceiling in our mattress room (on my own!) with pretend plaster paintable wallpaper from dwelling house Depot, and now i'm additionally desirous to do a pretend tin ceiling interior the eating room. i've got regarded at Anaglypta paintable wallpaper, yet i'm leaning extra in the direction of the recent vinyl wallpapers (Petite Punched Tin Ceiling result Raised Texture metallic Wallcovering) that are available in distinctive metallic colorations and look lots like the actual element. this could save me a number of of time portray and glazing to get the excellent result. Paintable wallpaper can look monochrome and flat except you place some extra advantageous artwork into it. The vinyl ones i'm speaking approximately are on internet site 2 of the hyperlink under. stable luck!
Q:What kind of tiles good? How to look?
See whether the glaze with pinholes, spots, glazed texture, with or without color. 2. See if the tile is deformed. 3. Look at the ceramic tile water absorption. With water droplets on the back of the brick, the smaller the diffusion area, the longer the drying time, the lower the water absorption, the better the quality. 4. Listen to the sound, hand knock on the tiles, the sound the more crisp, the better the quality. 5. weigh the weight, the heavier the weight, the better texture
Q:I have a few small pits (about 1/16 in diameter, very shallow into the tile) that have developed in some old ceramic tile in my foyer (it may be from some salt that was tracked into the foyer over the winter). Is there a good way to repair it?
I would try 'tile and grout sealer. These products are easy to apply and once dried are very hard. Go to your home supply store and look at a few different types and see what would work best for you application. Most people don't understand that tile needs to be sealed and re-sealed every year or two, especially in high traffic areas and where there will be a lot of dirt or water track across them.
Q:i need to cut a hole in ceramic floor tile. i have tried many things such as dremel with different ceramic tile cutting attachments and a carbide hole saw.what should i try next?
Grinds that carbide right off the bit, doesn't it? One of the previous posts has one technique, that being, drill a small hole in the tile (carbide, diamond-tip) at a slow speed with some sort of lubricant such as water (also cools the bit, but don't electrocute yourself) on the tile. Then you would thread the carbide grit hacksaw blade through the hole and hook up a hacksaw frame and cut away - - slowly. Then the tile will usually break when you are almost done. There are tile hole saw blades made, but they are not cheap, as they wear out relatively quickly. They will work up to a few inch diameter size. If it's any bigger than that, you'll probably want to find someone with a water-jet machine, like a countertop fabricator - person. A water-jet cuts just like it sounds - with water. It'll cut stone up to several inches thick. Hope that helps
Q:We want to pull out our carpeting and use self stick linoleum tiles. What do we need to know?
Consider the color options, cost per tile and the conditions that the tile was designed for. Some tiles have adhesive that will work in wet environments, like the bathroom or kitchen while others do not hold up as well. Figure out the rough area of the floor you want to cover and buy about 1/4 more. When you buy, be sure to get tiles from the same manufacturers batch to ensure that the tile color is consistent. This is why you want to have some extra for future repairs too. If the floor is uneven you will need to level it by applying a floor leveling patch - it's kind of like putty or spackle for your floor. Instructions for installing the tiles will be included with them and are pretty straight forward. Just make sure you set your first row so that it is straight and even so the rest will be too. The edges take the longest but are actually not too bad. Tiles can be cut with a utility knife.
Q:I had new stone tile laid in my bathroom. 18 x 18 pieces, diagonally laid. One piece by the edge must have been stepped on by one of the tile layers as they were leaving and it got pushed down, so it‘s not level with the rest of the tiles by a small fraction. Its not noticeable if you walk on it with shoes, but if you walk on it barefoot or if you get down and feel it with your hands, there is clearly a noticeable difference. The flooring company refuses to come back and fix it claiming I did it. The piece is on the edge butting up against carpet from the bedroom. Is there any way I can make this tile level myself to avoid the hassle of trying to sue or file complaints against the flooring company? Maybe cut out that one piece without damaging and just put a new layer of the cement underneath it? I don‘t know. I‘ve never done tiling before.
you can pick up a small tile saw at any tile /flooring outlet.it has a serrated edge for cutting into the grout that is around the tile.once you have removed the grout you should be abel to insert a wide blade putty knife under the tile and tap it in easy to loosen the tile once it is free clean the area of any adhesive and reset the tile.it is a shame that the co who did the install refused to come back and do the repair.if i were you i would file a complaint with the better business bureau in your area.good luck
Q:the one where i can picture of single tile not the whole floor
Google American Olean, Florida tile, Dal Tile, Mohawk, Laufen, U S Ceramics, Crossville,Armstrong,Congoleum, or Interceramic. These are a few major manufactures of tile. Most show individual tiles as well as some whole floors. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
Q:would it be to hard for me to do by myself and is there an adhesive that I put under the tile?
Carpet tiles are easy to install. Some even come with their own adhesive backing. You will need to begin with marking out the center of the room and squaring it to make a + so you can set the firs four tiles down and work outward from the center. Once you have marked your + do a dry run and make sure you don't end up with a large chunk of tile on one wall and a sliver on the other. If that happens, shift the center mark toward the shorter edge. Once you have done the dry run and you are happy with the results you can stick them down. Good luck
