We can produce two kinds of black iron wire, one is hard drawn wire, another is soft annealed wire
- Q: I have two DVC subs and I know how to wire them down to 1 ohm with the wires coming out of one outlet on the box but I don't know how to wire them down to 1 ohm with wires coming out of both sides of the box. Anyone have a wiring diagram for this?
- For okorder /... On the inside of the enclosure, connect both positives and both negatives to the enclosure inside terminal. That makes each side of the enclosure 2 ohms. Mount and screw in the subs. Now, on the outside: 1) Observing polarity, run short jumpers between the terminals (positive to positive, negative to negative) and then connect ONE set of terminals to the amp (again observing polarity) (positive to positive, negative to negative. 2) Run separate wires from each set of terminals to the amp, observing polarity. That makes the final impedance to the amp 1 ohm.
- Q: how do i wire a dual 2 ohm sub to an amp at 2 ohm
- actually tc your almost right. yes 1 and 4 are the ohm loads of the speaker itself. but if your talking mono thats all you can achieve. on 2 channel amps when you bridge them your talking ohm drop again. so if you have one dvc 2 ohm wired in series and then bridged to the amp your looking at a 2 ohm load
- Q: its an older boat without fuse box, if you go to the manual on the website it gives you the wire layout. I know the radio works but a friend of mine disconnected the wires to try to put a switch in and never reconnected them. I don't know what to do with the ground wire or the red wire. Any suggestions?
- the ground wire black is connected to -ve of battery the red wire is connected to ignition wire so when you turn on the keys the radio starts the yellow wire is connected to +ve of battery, but radio will not switch on till red is connected. good luck
- Q: I am hooking up a subwoofer in my 01' civic and i cant figure out where the remote wire from the amp connects to in the back of my new headunit. Do i need a wiring harness? any help would be appreciated thanks
- Assuming that you're talking about an after-market head unit, the remote output should be blue/white. If there's no blue/white, look for a blue wire, but if you see both wires then use the blue/white. The solid blue wire is typically a power antenna output, and won't keep your amp turned on when you select the CD player or another source. If you have a stock radio, then I'd suggest connecting your remote wire to the power wire at your cigarette lighter, below the radio. That's typically a key-switched wire in a Civic.
- Q: Please help. I am trying to fit a new light into a house with old wiring. My new light just has a connection block with 1 blue wire and 1 brown wire. When I removed the old light there are 5 wires coming from the ceiling. 1 black and 1 red coming from one lead and 1 black and 1 red coming from the other. Any ideas how I wire this up. Many thanks.
- You have very old wiring if you only have 2 pairs of black and red wires in the ceiling. A modern installation will contain a third pair and also have green/yellow (or bare copper) earth conductors too. The following instructions will make your light work but you should get your wiring checked as soon as possible to bring it up to modern safety standards. One of the cables in the ceiling is carrying your supply current from the fuse box, the other is coming from the switch. You must connect the red wires together with a secure plastic joint block. This will send Live current down to the switch. Connect one of the blacks to the blue wire in the light fitting. This will make the Neutral connection to the light. Connect the other black to the brown wire of the light fitting. This will be the Live connection from the switch. If you have any green and green/yellow wires then you must connect these together because they are the earths. Make absolutely sure that you thoroughly insulate your joint blocks with electricians tape before you secure the fitting to the ceiling.
- Q: How much wire is required?
- Length of wire is L = R*A/p SI units must be used, so convert radius to meters: r = 0.0254 / 64 m using 25.4mm = 1 inch r = 3.969*10^-4 m (0.3969mm) So cross-sectional area is A = pi*(3.969*10^-4)^2 m^2 A = 4.95*10^-7 m^2 The average resistivity of nichrome is p = 1.1*10^-6 ohm-meter So the required length of wire is L = 2.2 ohm * 4.95*10^-7 m^2 / 1.1*10^-6 ohm-meter L = 0.990 m
- Q: In constructing a large mobile, an artist hangs an aluminium sphere of mass 6kg from a vertical steel wire 0.50m long. On the bottom of the sphere he attaches a similar steel wire, from which hae hangs a brass cube of mass 10kg. How would i calculate the tension in each wire?
- The length of the wire is inconsequential unless you're calculating stretch. The tensile force in the upper wire is simply: Fu = 6 + 10 = 16 kg The tensile force in the lower wire is simply: Fl = 10 kg If you want tensile stress, then you need the wire's cross-sectional area.
- Q: I needed a new tail light for my trailer. The aftermarket tail lights only came with two wires sticking out the back, one red and one black. The stock tail light that broke had 3 wires and so does the harness on the trailer end. People have told me that even though it is different it will work. Do I join the two hot wires together with the red wire and then the return wire to the black? There is no wiring diagram avalible and I dont have the money to replace then entire lighting system. Thanks for your help.
- Pull the lens and look at the bulb. If it is a 2 element bulb then it will work, if it is a single element it will not. If it is a 2 element then one of the wires is turn and stop light and the other is tail light. It will use a body ground in that case. On your trailer harness you will have a brown wire, that is tail lights, the turn and stop light (same wire) will be either green or yellow depending on what side of the trailer you are on. The white wire is ground. The turn and stop light will be much brighter than the tail light so just twist the wires together and see which is which. You can hook the white wire to the mounting screw of the light fixture to be sure you have a good ground.
- Q: I have an old sewing machine without a plug that needs wiring up but it doesn't have the modern wire colours. There's one red wire and one yellow. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks =]
- It would be better for you to post a picture of your wires and where they are going to on the machine so that we can tell you what is what. Otherwise it would be difficult to say just by telling us one is red and one is yellow. No offense intended, there's just not enough information with just knowing the wire colors. ------------------------ WARNING! Red is NEVER used to indicate a earth connection as XOXO suggests! Damage to your machine or harm to you could result if you attempted to connect red to earth. ------------------------ OK, I see your picture (thanks): Yellow is most likely the common wire. It connects to your white wire. The red wire connects to the Hot (black) wire. If you have a switch in the system, the red wire would connect to your switch or foot (gas peddle). And of course the other side of your switch would be connected to your black wire of the power cord.
- Q: Okay so bought 2 Kicker Comp C12-8 subs they are single voice coil, and I bought the Kicker DX300.2 amp. I would like to parallel wire thes subs to have a 4 ohm load, But I don't totally get the concept of it. Could somebody explain it, or show me a diagram, or video, or something?
- Parallel is simple. Connect positives to positives and negatives to negatives. Series wiring is the opposite.
