And I'm not sure if my mom is going to get one of those rug cleaner vaccums.And ideas on how I can dry the carpet?: if you have access to a shop vacuum use it to suck out as much of the moisture as possible KO, here,s what else you can do. wipe the area with a big towel try to pick up as much water /moisture as you can , if you have a space heater place it by the wet area and leave it till rug is dry. no space heater? then place a fan aim it at the wet spot same thing leave it till dry,also i know you must have a hair dryer.you can use it the same way you would if drying your hair you can also rent a commercial fan for drying out wet areas at any rental store ..good luck please don't try to use your vacuum cleaner the water will wipe out the motor.

Q:how do i get rid of a carpet burn please help: The only thing you can do is cut in a new piece. My brother and I do flooring on the weekends. We have done this repair many times. You have to have the right equipment to do it right. (hot iron and seam tape) If the carpet is fairly old, you can also cut out the burn if it is small and re-seam at the cut. This is also done with a hot iron and seam tape.

It has not been cleaned in years only vacuumed... and also is there a market place for these rugs? if I do decide I want to sell it.: The best way to clean an oriental rug is either to wash it yourself with bicarbionate of soda and vinegar, or farm it out to be washed by a company that specializes in oriental rugs. NEVER use detergent or a chemical cleaner, or dry clean, an oriental rug. All these substances will destroy the protective lanolin in the rug. A 6x8 would be really easy to do yourself. First, vacuum it face-down to loosen the deepest dirt, then right side up. You can either lay the rug on flat, clean concrete (not tarmac), or hang it over a couple of ladders or a fence. Then, rub bicarb all over it, then saturate with vinegar; it will foam up and push out the dirt. Rinse well. The advantage of doing it on a flat surface is you can squeegee it, then hang it. If over ladders, it may take a few days to dry.

Q:For all carpet experts....I accidentally spilled bleach on a small section of carpet in my apartment. I cut out the affected area and tried to patch it with a piece from the closet but the colors dont match. How does the carpet dying process work? I called several places and they suggested I do it myself since they no longer do that sort of work.: Do you have a steam cleaner? If you do, fill the steam cleaner with water bleach steam clean the whole carpet. That should even it out. I'm interested to hear what other answers you get cause I had a friend spill red wine on my off white carpets that was what I was told to do. Good luck!

Q:Found it on rug after 2 nights, whats the best way to get it out?: Often nail polish on carpet or a rug is just on the very tips of the fibers. If this is the case you can just snip the polish off with sharp scissors. Just cut the very tips of the fibers. Work slowly. Don't cut a single millimeter more than you have to and pull up while cutting. This will help prevent divots in the rug. Try your best to do just one or two fibers at a time...not a whole clump. This will work unless you have used nail polish remover and have worked the nail polish deeper into the rug. Good luck. -
