Q: What good is a carpet?: Carpet insulation effect is good, in winter, warm effect is reflected, the first visual warmth, and then the texture.

Q: For the past 6 months or so, my cat has been peeing and pooping on my throw rug (which, just so you know, was an expensive rug from Crate Barrel which I love). My rug is stained from cat pee, and I just had it cleaned deodorized this past weekend in the hopes that she would stop using it as a litter box. I used to think that she did it out of spite, but I can't figure out why she'd be mad at me or my live-in boyfriend (who she belongs to, but we've been living together for about a year and dating for a year and a half, so she knows me well and is very loving towards me). I don't know how to get her to stop using my rug as a toilet. Any suggestions? And, putting her to sleep is not a suggestion. We love her. But, if she doesn't stop pooping and peeing on my rug I don't know what II'll do!: i saw this on a show, where a cat kept messing on a bathroom mat. not sure it'll work for you but the vet guy recommended moving the litter tray to where the cat does it, and leave the throw rug next to it, maybe hanging off the couch or whatever, so he can't mess on it but it's next to the litter tray. slowly move the tray and rug back towards where you keep your litter tray, or outside, whatever, just a bit a day. use praise and treats when he/she uses the tray and not the rug. eventually the cat should start to use the tray and not your rug. I can be an insecurity thing I think, it happened to the cat on the show when the owner went into hospital and it was left with the husband.

Q: its dark brown hair dyeits dry nowits a bathroom carpet: Getting hair dye out of carpet is tough - and if you're to have much luck it's best if you can get at the stain immediately. Here's what to do: Step 1 Blot the stain immediately with a clean, white cloth. Step 2 Mix a solution of 1/4 tsp. liquid hand-dishwashing soap and 1 cup lukewarm water. Step 3 Blot stain with soap solution, using a clean, white cloth. Blot from the outside of the stain, working inward. Step 4 Let sit a few minutes. Step 5 Mix a solution of 1 part vinegar to 2 parts lukewarm water. Step 6 Dab stain with vinegar solution, again working from the outside in. Step 7 Once the stain has disappeared, flush the area with cold water and blot dry with a clean, white cloth.

Q: how often do u buy new carpet for ur house?my husband has never got new capet in this house since he has lived here. and the guy lived here before had the same carpet. I think it is a time for some new carpet. My husband lived here 5 years so far. so who know how long the guy before us had this carpet. how do i get my husband to buy new carpet? also we own the house: I usually replace carpet if I detect wear and tear, the warranty has expired, excessive staining not covered by warranty or there are traffic compression paths. In my rentals, I tend to replace the carpet after each tenant because most are long term renters. When I purchase property that has been occupied previously, I always replace the carpet because I just don't know what happened on it before and how it was maintained. Being the owner of the home, it behooves you to purchase new carpet to add to the value of your home and to be covered by warranty.

Q: What color of the carpet looks good with white tile, red sofa and black tea table?: There are a few black spots. The main color is white, or grey between black and white

Q: my carpet it is filthy. it has smelled since the day i moved in a month ago and the bottom of my feet are gray after walking on it. the apartment managers refuse to change it and have told me i can break the lease but i would be penalized. who do i contact to have my carpets tested or confirm that they're not up to standards??: If it is mold or something then your local housing authority should be able to handle that. If they cannot do it they should be able to tell you were to go. If it is just dirt then they just need to be professionally cleaned. EDIT: Well then it sounds like it definitely needs replaced. But there is not much you can do to force them to do it while you are still there. You do not say if you have a lease or not. If you do not then you can give 30 days notice and move.

Q: Im a single mum of three and a student so you can probably guess that i don't have alot of money!I went to a carpet store and they said that i could carpet a room using felt back carpet which the fitters can use glue to put down because felt back carpets don't require underlay.right now that seems to be my only option.i just wanted to know if anyone has a carpet that doesn't have any underlay and if is worth doing it??: I had carpet without underlay in my home. It lasted many years. It did not have the plush, sinking in feel of other carpets but it did the job. The only propblem I have had is in removal, as the backing has deteriorated with time and makes a lot of dust when removing. Also the glue has stuck to my wood flooring and is a pain to remove. Otherwise, no issues

Q: My animals have caused havoc on my new beautiful large shag rug,, any insight. i.e. I dont own a machine that does carpet cleaning.: If the rug has a rubber backing, you can machine wash it. Take it to a laundromat and use the machines there. Cold water, regular laundry detergent. Then bring the rug home and hang it to air dry. If the rug has a stiff canvas backing, you will need to either rent a carpet cleaner or hire a professional to clean it. Good luck. -
