Q:i have 5 rugs and they are pretty grubby now, can i wash them in the washing machinegt;?: I have a sheepskin rug that I have washed, never thought about using Woolite however I am sure that works great :). Since it is a hair like fur I actually have used a little shampoo in the washer with it. It worked just fine, I was a bit nervous to put the rug in the dryer so i just let if hang for a while to air dry and also use a brush to bring the life back into the fur.

Q:I have purchased wool rugs which I really like but they have an odour and we have stepped on prickly objects that, when searched for, turn out to be similar to twigs (approx. an inch or more in length) or seeds woven into the wool. The rugs come from a very reputable rug importer that operates in the United States as well as Canada so I'm somewhat surprised at what appears to be poor quality and am considering returning them. Will I find this with all 100% wool handmade rugs? Does cleaning them make any difference?: these have been made by a craft work shop where the wool has been spun by hand and probably in a workshop in a rural work shop where as it was woven twigs etc have been picked up from the floor it was crafted on the best bet is to wash the rugs if possible if not then contact the rug importer and complain

Q:Romantic evening with a few melted candles knocked over, lol. So how do you get dried candle wax out of the carpet?: Get some good quality plain white paper towels and grab your iron. Put several layers of towels over the wax and iron away. it will take the wax out but if it was a red candle you may still have a light pink stain. I suppose you could try a bit of spray cleaner with bleach IF it is a light colored carpet.

Q:(Or perhaps any rugs?): When you say rugs I instantly think of Persia. Or modern day Iran, Iraq, and Turkey. If you do invest in a hand made wall rug, really research where you get it from. Some-most rugs shops employ child labour. And I am sure you would no support that. Good luck.

Q:than cleaning it at home with my own carpet cleaning machine? For example I have a stain on my carpet in my living room. When I clean it, it looks clean....but a few weeks later it pops up again....if I hire professionals will it come up?: They okorder /

What could cause it?: Sounds like a really old or really poor quality carpet. Even the cheaper carpets should last a long time if there is no traffic. I suppose it is possible to find a carpet material that is so bad that it will begin to rot away after only a few years, but normal landlords don't buy that kind. The want the kind that will last for a long time. I can't think of anything that could cause the problem you described other than extreme age or extremely bad quality. Mayan

Q:does anyone have this carpet cleaner? I saw some good reviews on this and it is in my price range. But in the reviews it didn't say much about cleaning up pee stains. I need need this carpet cleaner to specifically clean my dogs pee stains. If you don't know about this carpet cleaner any other suggestions on another carpet cleaner?: Cleaning up pee isn't much different than soda pop or orange juice, etc. It's a matter of steaming to release, then a wetvac extracts the substance and steam. Repeated passes will increase the effect. If you have stains in the carpet, the pad underneath may be compromised, in which case no steamer will get all the ammonia out. Best thing to do in that case is to have the pad replaced. If that's not feasible, at least find the enzyme treatment which helps break down ammonia -- usually it's at the vac rental area of the store.

Q:so in my room i have a carpet which my mother told me that when our apartment was built they sticked the carpet with a special glue... under the carpet there are tiles..... but the glue is stuck to the tiles and i pulled the carpet to see whats happening under it because i really want to remove it because its unhealthy.... and i poored hot water and chlorine on and i took a knife to scratch it and the tiles wallpaper (however the call that thing) disappears and all i see its something black... what is that and what can i do now???? i already ripped a lot my carpet... any suggestions? what is that black thing??? is it the cement of the tiles?: First you do not need to put chlorine in with the water. The black paper ( is that what it looks like?) could just be something that was used to even out the floor's surface. Forget the knives and scratching! Adhesives ( glues) are sometimes soluble with water.. Sometimes with heat - you heat the glue moderately with perhaps a steam iron or a hair dryer, the glue will loosen enough to pry back the carpet. Otherwise- and this is totally out of range of my experience- solvents are sometimes used. I would not recommend using any kind of flammable solvent. Instead of knives find a wide putty knife to help lift the carpet off the tiles, this will get a larger area up off the tiles and will not scrape or gouge the tiles nor is it likely to slip and cut you. And you can get one for a few dollars. Work a little at a time- maybe it will take you a day or two- and wear safety glasses when you pull up the carpet because it is easy to get a small carpet fiber into your eye and it is a pain to get it out!

We want to buy nice, durable, long-lasting carpet, but, like everyone, we have a budget and are middle class.Any tips, pitfalls to avoid, good brands, avoid these brands, etc...?: Long lasting carpet, over all is 100% nylon. Whether its a berber, plush , textured or a frieze. Watch out for free labor ( I never worked for free do you?) I have all the faith in Mohawk they covered their warranties. Very important, don t skimp on pad. Get the best you can afford. And have it in writing the pad will cover the manufactures warranty. Some sales and advertised sales will include a cheap pad. Pads support the carpet and prevent the carpet backing from breaking down premature. Vacuum every few days. Carpet makers say to do it every day. Have carpet clean professionally by a certified cleaner. Have it done on a regular basis. Have every thing in writing. This will include the type, color style what weight pad, whos doing the rip out and disposal of the old. Whos moving the furniture ( in and out) Take advantage of 90/180 12 month same as cash but do it the proper way and don t miss a thing. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar.
