2. What is the delivery time after we paid the deposit?

- Q: If you were going to tile an entire room would you start from the walls or floor? The room is only small 12m walls amp; 4m floor amp; is a basic toilet amp; basin. There are no border tiles amp; no fllor to wall tiles.

- Q: We had new ceramic tiles put in the shower. The tiles are large size (12x12) and the grout line is about the width of a pencil. After a few days we noticed very thin (hairline) cracks in the grout, especially around the shower bench and the corners of the shower. The tiles are all in place. I think the contractors mixed the grout too thin. Can I just sand those areas of grout down a bit and then put new grout on top of it over those areas?
- There are many questions to ask first. How old is the building? Is it still settling? If so: wait until it is done moving before repairing, or you will just end up doing it again. Was the tile installed over cement board, plywood, or what? Each has a different effect. Did you use mastic or latex/polymer modified adhesive or..what.. to adhere it? Is this a wet area application (shower, counter top, etc?). This could be as simple as having too much water in the grout when it was mixed, or too wet of a sponge during clean up. If that is the case, you still have to remove it all and redo it. Just fact-find to learn the cause before you repair it, so you only have to do the repair once! Ultimately, if you paid someone else to do the job, have them fix it. If you did it yourself, go to the library and read every tile book you can find. The answers are out there, but it might take some research to find them.

They are varied in shape and size (see photo).I think that these tiles originally came with some sort of netting on the back when they laid the floor and they added grout? I believe I saw some extra tiling somewhere in our home and this is what I had found.Anyway, the grout is breaking up between some of the tiles and some of the tiles keep popping out. I have two questions, If I regrout them do I put it on the bottom of the tile too and does that make the tile adhere to the floor?How would I get the grout to match what‘s already there, it‘s a medium brown gray. Not sure if it started out that way or became like that over the years. Would it look funny if the grout didn‘t match? How could I get it to match?

- Q: This is a new house and they put 16 inch tiles in the bathrooms, which I don't care for. The floors are fine as far as leveling goes, but I would like to put 12 inch tiles directly over the 16 inch ones. Would there be any problems?
- A side from raising the floor up and you looking at how it will come out at the doorway ( only you can judge that), you can do this just fine if done properly. Tile thats down now , make sure it is down secure. It probably is but with a new house time hasn t gone by long enough to see signs that tell you its down tight. Should you do this and its perfectly fine , you ll need to do just a few things special. Don t get the regular enhanced thin set go at least a step up. Pricing will help you dictate this. Floor must be clean and dry. As you go over it use the flat side of the trowel to coat over it all , this will fill in the grout joints , if its a bit low. Then use your 1/4 x3/8 ths trowels to spread thin set. Let set an extra day or 2 before walking on it since the thinset needs extra drying time in this situation. - Q: i have just put down adhesive floor tiles in my bathroom, do i now need to use an extra sealant/pvc wash to seal the joins between the tiles as my kids enjoy splashing in the bath and i dont want the floor ( pvc sealed boards ) to lift if water gets in the gaps?
- Sure, if you have gaps i recommend sealing the joints. If the joints are just seams you should be fine, and won't need to seal.
- Q: Can a ceramic wall tile be applied directly to a greenboard surface with mortar or is a cement backer board required?Thanks for your help
- Wow, Hi Steve, My opinion, and I haven't read any other answers yet, Green board is fine for walls adjacent to areas that may endure water intrusion, but not as a substrate to install tile over. I understand it has been done, and certainly was an offered option before backer board was introduced, but it's water resistant properties are negligible. I do tile, every day of my life, and I get it that the customer is always right, even when they aren't, but I never had a negative call back, nor do I wish one for you, even years from now. Another positive aspect of the concrete backer board is texture; a surface allowing better adhesion for thin set, which green board does not offer. Good to see you again. - Q: Can anyone tell me what type of tile this is? Name?
- All i will say is: its normally not a best thought to put it correct on top. It turns into extra seemingly for it to come up. After which the approach of taking over a layer of laminate and a layer of ceramic tile could be that a lot tougher when it happened. I consider the one technique to make that work with out taking up the ceramic tile is to make an air tight seal between the two. I couldn't give you any strategies on how to try this though.
