Q: anyone familiiar with laying tile flooring? never done it myself but i just bought a house and want to do it. is there anything an amature would mess up?? any info would be great
determine if you would want lots cut tiles along the edge or not. if you do want cut tiles, square the room, level the floor, line the floor and start laying tiles from the center towards the wall. if you dont want a lot of cutted tile. plan it that the cutted tiles on the side of the wall that can be hidden. square the wall, level the floor and line the floor. you may want to start from the entrance door. use tile spacers and use the lines regularly so you would have a well alligned tiles. remember not to use too dry or too wet tile adhives. too dry is difficult to manage and too wet will cause bubbles and would be hallow. these would be weak points of the tile and breaks easily. get a book with illustrations or someone to help you. especially wiht the cutting
Q: I want to put vinyl tiles on my pre-existing ceramic tiles but in some areas there is no ceramic tiles and I need something to fill in the gap to make my floors even when I put on the vinyl tile. What should I use? Then when my floors are even how do i put my tiles?
With all due respect; that wasn't a good idea to begin with. If asked I'd turn down the job. First of all the grout lines should have been considered; and the depression that exists. I'll assume you intend to BUTT each sticky tile to any other. At some pint; some portion of that will come in contact with grout lines. In a normal process of just walking on the vinyl tiles; the grout lines will become evident; under the vinyl. Essentially a glazed ceramic tile is glass; and is not pourous, or even designed to adhere anything to it. For a transition area you could either install more tile first, or fill the transition; perhaps even feathering it? Without knowing the WHERE of the gaps; it may not be aesthetically suitable in any case. To more directly answer your Q; but so much not if favor of stick on anything; I offer this. I do it or suggest it every time. Get a can of contact cement; regular base or water base. Peel the paper from the back of each tile. Brush or roll contact cement to the back of the tile as well as the surface to be covered. Let air dry, then stick, press, and hope. Steven Wolf
Q: How can you cover ugly wall tiles??
just tear them off and out up some wall paper, if you cannot do that for whatever reason jst put some your fav posters on the wall to cover them up
Q: How to buy tiles? What kind of good?
Are specifically described as follows: 1. Look at the tiles in addition to see whether there are black spots, bubbles, pinholes, cracks, with or without scratches, stains, missing edges, missing corners and other surface defects, but also pay attention to whether there is leakage Throwing, leakage and other defects. 2. weigh is the weight of the weight, try the tricks of the handle, for the same specifications of products, good quality, high density of brick feel more Shen, on the contrary, the quality of the product feel lighter.
Q: How is the acceptance of tiles after construction?
First knock! The sound is empty! Indicating that the cement did not wipe evenly. There is a place where there is leakage. In touch! Tile connection is smooth! If the tiles are not flat, it shows that the cement gray is not even! Look after! Tile joints should be horizontal and vertical.
Q: i‘m thinking about laying my own tile. ( this way i could save $2700) yeah, i know its a pain int he butt. BUT i‘m still going to do it because i like doing my own work. I‘m laying down 24x24 tiles. do you have any advice or secrete or techniques to offer? its a straight edge tile so i was thinking about using no spacers. I was also told to spread thinset on the tile in addition to the cement floor.
24x24 Porcelain Tile
Q: i put up glass tile on my kitchen backsplash. i grouted today. i am unable to remove the grout haze this evening however. it is causing the tile to look terrible. any tips? i don‘t want to scratch it.
I have had the same issue. Unfortunately, you will have to continue to wash the tile with a clean sponge. When the haze goes away, it will come back. The next time it will not be as much. You will need to wash and wash unitl it is gone. It will go away. This is very typical for tile and grouting. Good luck!
Q: Hi, I just wanted to know if Ceramic tiles are better than stone tiles? When we signed a contract for a new house, they offered us Stone tiles, but now they are calling us and telling that they do not offer stone tiles instead ceramic tiles are now standard. I wanted to know which one is better and why?
Ceramic tile is cheaper than stone but we have installed ceramic or porcelain tiles in all bathrooms for the ease of upkeep. Stone does look richer but it needs to be sealed at least once a year maybe more. The sealing part is easy but the stone tile needs to be completely clean first. That is the 'hard work' part. Ceramic tile will hold up to almost anything in a bathroom and the grout is the only thing that needs sealing. (You'd probably have grout to seal with the stone too) If you signed for stone, I'd make sure that they are going to give you some kind of refund for the difference of the cost. They are saving a a few bucks here so make them pass it on.
Q: Someone told me its called tile- something) I know it has a nic-name, do you know it?
imperial highway maybe
Q: We recently remodeled our kitchen and are now ready to apply something between the counter and wall cabinets. We are thinking of tile. Our cabinets are a light oak. The counters are a marble looking blend of grey, blue, beige. Our appliances are beige. What color tile would look nice for this? Also, could you use 12x12 tile vs 4x4 or the smaller tile or is smaller tile better? We currently have unpainted drywall. Can you install tile with drywall behind? Or do you need that other type of backing?
the 1st element is which you would be able to desire to bathe the tiles o.k.. then you certainly would desire to apply the suitable bonding primer. the paint may well be superb sprayed, yet whilst thats no longer possible, use a conditioner interior the paint to grant a self leveling ingredient. use a curler specially for tender surfaces. sand gently between coats.
