- Q: do everything and what thickness of mortar between the tiles and the floor should be observed
- If the bathroom has timber floor boards with a covering on top remove any plastic tiles or old carpets and lay thin plywood on top screwed down to the floorboards as a solid base for the new tiles (you omit this if the bathroom has a concrete floor) then either buy some floor tiles adhesive (for plastic tiles) or mix some tile cement (for ceramic tiles) spread the adhesive /tile cement on the floor base using a slotted trowel that applies the adhesive/cement in rows, then follow the adhesive/cement makers instructions to leave for a period - then lay the plastic tiles edges butting or ceramic tiles with plastic spacers to allow for the grout to be added between the tiles, start from the back working obviously towards the door. You can unscrew the toilet pan and slide tiles underneath likewise the bathtub panels remove to fit the tiles underneath (note you will have to trim the bathtub panel so it can be re fitted over the tiles, you may wish to tile up to baseboards (skirting UK) or remove them and tile underneath. As you can see this job is quite involved -do you have good diy skills? Otherwise leave to a pro to tile it for you maybe you can buy the tiles and he lays them?
- Q: My kitchen floor tile has a number dings or chips caused by something heavy falling on them. Is there a way to repair these without having to remove/replace the entire tile?
- Sorry to hear that.. Any tile will top chip inexpensive or not.. Just some more easy than others.. This depends on the type of tile..I ve always had people touch them up w/ an enamel touch up that you repair appliances with.. This will depend on colors of course .. Finger nail polish is a tougher touch up product to help too.. Not a cure or a fix but a hide.. Should you get more tile in the future and want to avoid this get a pure porcelain were color go all the way thru and not a porcelain bodied tile there is a difference GL
- Q: How about a simple tiles? Good quality
- "listen". To one hand the thumb, index finger and middle finger folder tile corner, easy to hang, the other hand index finger tapping the lower part of the tile, such as the sound clear, sweet for the top grade, such as the sound boring, astringent turbidity for the defective. "cut". Cut out the tile cut (usually to the store to have broken pieces of observation), see the break at the Department. Broken at the fine, hard and brittle, consistent color for the top grade.
- Q: I need either of two types of tile one was a sheet of multicolor mosaic tiles the other is a creamy colour with a beige sort or swirly thing going through it
- Matching dis-continued tile can be a big problem..This is why whenever I do a tile job I leave extra or open boxes behind...The only thing i can say is check every tile store you can find.....Perhaps one has an odd lot left of leftovers...If you know who made the tiles that would help the search....If you E-mail me a photo to my profile I will take a look around my area when I am at the tile stores...Usually shipping can be arranged.
- Q: I want to remove my carpet in the bedroom. I know about pulling it up and all that but what I don‘t know is what the next step is after it‘s totally up. I want to put down tile I‘m not sure if I want to put down ceramic or just the plain old sticky tile. my question is can i put tile down directly on the floor boards. I don‘t think that there is hardwood underneath i just see like plywood or whatever that board is called. Is there anything specific that needs to be done to the floor before tiling?
- You can put the peel stick tile directlt to the wood floor, but for the ceramic tile you'll first need to put down, with screws, a cement board called Duro-Rock, These come in 3x5 ft. pieces. You also need Thin-Set and fiberglass tape. The fg tape has a sticky side so it sticks right to the Duro-Rock. Run a thin coat of Thin-Set over the tape and allow to dry. Ceramic tile can be put down with Thin-Set also.
- Q: how to paint over tile
- 1) sand with a 80-120 grit sandpaper to get thru the glaze a little, unless the tiles look pretty ragged, then that finish is prob already worn thru 2) clean with a tsp type cleaner (avail from hardware store, looks like a mild carton) 3) if you dont do any thing else PLEASE PLEASE prime it with a decent problem solving primer ( zinzer 1.2.3 ? or whatever brand your local paint dept recomends) primer sticks, paint wears. they both have their jobs, dont skip one 4) paint with your fave colour in a highly washable 100% acrylic latex paint.
- Q: What is the loss of tiles? What is the difference between floor tiles and bathroom tiles? Living room masonry 80X80 balcony, bathroom floor, kitchen floor is 30X30 bathroom wall, kitchen wall is 30X45. We help me see how much loss in this
- The state for the tile paving loss is not a serious requirement and description of the tile in the paving process, due to the construction level of workers, the degree of careful differences, the relevant size of the paving area, whether it is related to special flower shop , Eventually leading to its loss will be different. In general, in the tile purchase, according to the actual paving area plus 5-10% of the loss is appropriate.
- Q: I would like to install laminated flooring in my kitchen. Two of the wall are tiled. Is it possible to undercut these tiles or is there an easier method to do a neat installation?
- Yes, it is possible. You could use an oscillation type cutter with a carbide tip. If you do use this, use a scrap piece of the flooring as a shim to get your gap at the bottom so you can get the flooring under the tiles. then cover the gap with your trim.
- Q: What is the unit of the tile factory offer. Is the piece or square meter
- To film as a unit, huh, huh had just renovated.
- Q: Right now the wall is horrible paneling, I am drywalling the house, but I really want one wall tiled with granite tiles. Would it be better to do this on the paneling or drywall? Will it be too heavy and rip the wall down? Is there a safe way to do this?
- Yes, you can tile walls with granite tiles. There is a difference in thickness between floor and wall tiles. All you have to do is make certain that the granite tiles you get are made for the wall and not the floor. If you put floor tiles on the wall, they will be too heavy. If you put wall tiles on the floor, they will be too thin to support weight and will crack and break. As for what wall to put them on, it doesn't really matter, as wall tiles will stay up on either wall. As for my personal suggestion, put them on the horrible panel wall. This way, you get rid of the horrible wall and you won't have the extra cost of taking it off and putting on drywall.
