- Q: About 7 years ago I had new tile put in all around my bathtub. I knew I would not like cleaning this tile grout. It is way too much work now that I am a senior lady. I would love to replace this tile with something that has no grout needed. Other than Formica (Laminate) can anyone think of another product I can have installed without grout lines? Thank you for your suggestions.
- 3 suggestions. One is aways have the tile grout cleaned and SEALED to prevent quick discoloration. And / OR .. have your grout removed -- taken out of between the tile. And a New Grout installed .. (re-grouted) with a color (beige or sand or darker than present) so you do not have the need to clean it so often. Products.. FRP - Fiberglass Reinforced Polymer (plastic) comes in sheets - at your home improvement center. Similar to the wall cover that is in some public bathrooms (can be smooth or textured like cracked ice). Tile Board.. this is a laminated masonite material that can be smooth or have designs that look like tile but without the grout. Good luck
- Q: How many pieces of a tiles are there in general?
- Look at the size of ah, look at the size of the box and tile size, 80 of our 80 by 80 also
- Q: I am going to move into a home that has ugly green and yellowish tile all over the kitchen!! The walls and sink are green, the counters are a wood laminate, the floor is an old beige vinyl, and the cabinets are a dark color and are old and dated. What can i do to make this kitchen much nicer on a really tight budget?! Help!!
- I understand your pain, my home has orange counters in the bathrooms and dark green linoleum floors. I sugget you look into the different kinds of paints that could maybe cover the ugly. They make paint that will go on any thing. Just have to do the research. For the floors, there is stick on tiles that you can get to cover for the time being. They work really good if you take your time and do it right.
- Q: How to divide the tiles?
- Excellence: no obvious flaws, no broken, no missing angle, after the color difference after no significant color First grade: there is a certain pinhole, there are flaws, but not more than a certain number, there are some missing angle and cracks, but the distance is not large (each type of implementation of different standards, the details can be seen on the carton standards, To obtain a test report to know, the general Atlas also comes with)
- Q: We are trying to sell our house so I‘m not interested in professionalism...just something that works and looks decent. We have a small full bathroom that has some tile coming off one of the walls. Looking at it, it seems the entire wall of tile is ready to come down. I need to fix this economically and I‘m assuming I need to do the entire wall. Any ideas how I should go about this? Are there large sheets of tile I can just stick up there? Do I need tile board (if that‘s even a real thing), etc...? Thanks all!
- There is no quick, easy, right way to do tile. Do the buyers a favor and put up a nice shower wall kit with fresh drywall above it. You'll have something that looks okay, and they will have something that is easily removed when they are ready to remodel and do it right. If you want full panels to install, look at cultured marble/granite. It goes up in large pieces and doesn't require tileboard if you install it right. You do have to caulk properly. Mask both sides of your caulk beads and work quickly using GE Silicone caulk to seal all joints.
- Q: According to the Home Depot book I should NOT install on top of existing vinyl tiles but according to the Lowes website I can if it is smooth and in good condition(which it is). It would be easier to install on top but I would like to do it the way that is the best.
- Yes,You can. I have installed hundreds of them. As long as you have a smooth even surface under the new floor your fine. Make sure you glue down any lose ends or corners that may be sticking up now on the floor you want to tile over. There are 2 options..You can put a very, very light skim coat of floor adhesive over the old floor..(In the main traffic areas) let it tack up for 30-40 mins. then lay the tile. Or you can just go with what adhesive is on the back of the tile. I always put a very light skim coat of glue down cuz i don't want to hear the tile pop on different spots where the tile adhesive from the back of the tile didn't adhere to the floor. Make sure you have a can of mineral spirits if you use the floor adhesive. This cleans the glue that may come up between the tiles. Just make sure you use a plastic throw away trowel and use the SMALL TOOTHED edge and lay it on THIN!!. Last but not least...always start with a full tile in the doorway and work you way into the kitchen, bathroom, foyer areas. DON'T line the tile up with the existing tile!!! Make sure when you lay the new tile over the old tile..your first piece should cover two tiles. The tiles are 12 x12..make a 6 in. mark in the middle. Then when you lay your first tile..make sure that mark lines up where both tiles meet that your going to cover. I hope that doesn't confuse you. Good luck.
- Q: The walls of the decorative panels and tiles two materials in the interface where how to close the mouth
- If the two are in a plane, the operation is relatively simple, you can use natural sewing, sealing sealant closed, embedded in the T-shaped aluminum and other methods; if not in a plane, there are high and low, you can use L-shaped aluminum or stainless steel cover Prominent side.
- Q: Can I go over the exixting tile,or do I have to remove the old tile first. There is ceramic tile there now,and I want to intsall new ceramic tile.I hope this doesn't sound like a dumb question.
- A friend of mine installed a new layer of tiles atop the existing floor tiles about three years ago. There have been no problems,he did this with the entire condo.Believe it or not,he sold the place recently and the person who bought the place, did not like the color of the tiles so he installed a new layer, now being a total of 3 layers of floor tiles.
- Q: I rent but we have cracked a couple of white kitchen counter tiles. Is there a quikfix alternative to replacing them? We realize the solution would be cosmetic.
- Unfortunately, matching white anything is usually difficut. There are hundreds of whites. Also, many tiles discolor over time. Buy replacement tiles from several places (returning should be no problem w/receipt). In spite of what the flooring specialist stated, there is no need to buy a grout SAW (not called a grout chisel). Since the tiles are already cracked, you can pry them out with a screwdriver, putty knife, etc. Install the new tiles with premixed mortar/grout (she was correct about that).
- Q: I have a few chips in my ceramic floor tile. It‘s a light natural color tile, so the chipped part is dark and noticeable. Is there anything that you can put in the chips to cover them up?
