Q:bought home, tiles loose in shower, wonder if water damage is behind it
Plaster or fresh concrete mix
Q:We have cement tiles in our apartment. To wash them, I just use liquid soap and water; I don‘t want to use toxic products. The tiles are dull-looking, though. How do I get them to shine?
Please get rid of the liquid soap. Most likely leaving a residue on the flooring that will actually attract dirt.. Some tiles are not meant to shine because of there construction. They need a matte finish to provide their slip resistance. Strip the flooring using a OTC detergent cleaner. And then see how they look. Could be just a build up from you and other tenants.. Any questions you can e mail me though my avatar.. GL
Q:What brand of tiles good? How to choose?
Choose the tiles to remember just a few, the other is not important: 1, look at the back of the swivel to see if the color is pure, the general pure color display for the milky white (partial white), can not be black, not yellow, Point no more, black hair to prove that the brick itself has impurities, impurities, the density of the brick is more determined to decline, usually in the course of practical problems prone to fracture, damage. But the back of the brick body can not be very white that is not normal, indicating that zirconium silicate raw materials used too much, the national test tiles have no radioactive one of which is the detection of zirconium silicate raw materials practical amount of zirconium silicate raw materials can make brick Whitening, but zirconium silicate is also one of the main killers of radioactive, be sure to pay attention. General manufacturers have a national test report certificate, you ask them to produce it, note: must be booked with the kind of color certificate book or product brochure behind the parameters that is not a copy of the inspection report, that thing is Can be forged. 2, to see the side of the granules of granules are fine and even, the granules are large, rough, then the brick body density crisp, the use of the process will certainly be a problem, give a simple example: you get the house is usually the embryo room, wall The surface is very rough cement surface, when you use the putty powder after the wall is relatively smooth, delicate, and you use such a standard to see just fine. 3, the brick stand up, hand tapping the brick body, the more crisp the sound to prove that the higher the density of brick, the better the quality, the more dull the tones to prove that the worse the density of tiles, tiles, anti-fouling,
Q:i put up glass tile on my kitchen backsplash. i grouted today. i am unable to remove the grout haze this evening however. it is causing the tile to look terrible. any tips? i don‘t want to scratch it.
I swear by a product reported as Goo long gone. It has a tendency to do away with even the main sticky messes. i might think of the haze is a skinny layer of dried glue. you additionally can try organic vinegar and newspaper. That works properly on glass to scrub it.
Q:Now very popular tile 80X80 pink above the tea stains, how can effectively remove the tea stains?
Use salt and toothpaste to wipe off the rust on the white tiles. Dip a small amount of salt and toothpaste with a wet gauze and wipe the rust on the white tiles with a gauze dipped in salt and toothpaste. The effect is remarkable. The effect is not significant, then you can squeeze some toothpaste to wipe. When your home in the basin after use, there is a bad oil to remove, with toothpaste can also be scrubbed, not only the effect is remarkable, and eliminates the need to scrub the basin with a steel ball scratches. ? Q:I have a few chips in my ceramic floor tile. It‘s a light natural color tile, so the chipped part is dark and noticeable. Is there anything that you can put in the chips to cover them up?
Hi there. You've presented an excellent question and I have the ultimate solution for you! As a tile contractor, I have in fact used this technique a dozen times with perfect results every time. If these are small chips in the tile, touch them up with appliance touch-up paints or an oil enamel paint with a gloss similar to that of your tile. It's usually pretty simple finding a color that will match wonderfully. If these are larger sized chips or there is a corner of a tile is broken off, shape two-part epoxy putty to fit this area. The epoxy can easily be sanded lightly when dry, then painted with the appliance touch-up or enamel paint. All of these products can be found at your local Lowes or Home Depot. Note: this is a quick fix for a chipped tile... not a cracked one. Cracked tiles are usually a sign of something wrong... other than the crack in the tile and the surface needs investigated thoroughly before determing the proper fix. It's actually VERY difficult to accidentally crack a tile that has been installed properly. But I'm sure the above fix will work fine for your described problem. Good luck and let me know how it worked out for you!
Q:I need to install tiles on the floors of a 500 square foot apartment. I am torn between ceramic tile and vinyl. What is the price differential in terms of materials and labor? In otherwords: in total, how much would I pay to have the entire apartment tiled in ceramic vs. vinyl? Please note I am not a DIY person AT ALL so approximate labor prices are crucial. Thanks!
vinyl tile would be a lot cheaper..off the top of my head and if the place is empty and the floor that the vinyl tile is going over is in good shape, you are probably looking at around 800 dollars........ceramic maybe 3 to 4 thousand......these figures are far from exact but the vinyl tiles could probably be finished in a day, whereas, the ceramic could take 4 to 5 days in all.........
Q:I have a kitchen that currently has 20X20 tile The kitchen has 40 tilesWhat is the square feet of the kitchen?
That depends on the shape of the object. You have to cancel one dimension. If you want the 'footprint' of a rectangular box, for example, divide volume of the box in cubic feet by the height of the box in feet, to get the area of the bottom of the box in square feet. If you want the surface area of the same box, you'll need to know volume, and at least 2 more dimensions (width height for example), solve for its length, and then do (2 x L x W) + (2 x L x H) + (2 x W x H). If you want the surface area (in square feet) of a balloon or beach ball, you'll need to solve the equation for the volume of a sphere in cubic feet for the radius in feet, and then plug that radius into the equation for the surface area of a sphere, to get the area in square feet.
Q:I have never tiled before. I have a 3 x3 ft entrance in my house. I would like to remove the old tile and re tile it. How long should this take? and can I just tile over the old tile or does it have to be removed? but mostly how long should it take me to do?
I love these how long will it take or how much will it cost questions. Who knows? How fast can you work? I could probably do it in less than 90 minutes of actual working time, but I do it for a living. Much more important questions to answer are these: What is the sub-floor under the tile? You may need to put some Hardi-backer under it before re-tiling. Remember, just because you do something the way it was before doesn't necessarily make the original job correct. How big of a tile are you using? The bigger the tile, the faster the job goes, assuming you have the proper tools to handle the bigger tile. Do you have any tile tools? If not, you will have to buy them or rent them. Since the area is so small and shouldn't cost that much to have done professionally, why don't you consider having it done by someone who knows what they are doing? After you buy or rent all the tools, you won't save very much money. If you asked me to bid the job, I could do it for less than $200 not counting the cost of the tile. That would include any underlayment, the thinset and the grout. AND I own the tools to do it properly. Good luck.
Q:newly installed ceramic tiles did not adhere to the tile adhesive
Installing Tile can be a beautiful thing, but it can also be a terrible mess if not done correctly. A few things that could cause this is: Did you use mastic(glue) or thinset(concrete)? If you used Mastic that is not a good thing for an entire install on a floor, it should only be used as a repair or on small tile on a wall as it never truely dries gue to the outsite of the glue crusts and the center of the tile stays wet. If you used thinset was it mixed properly as that can be an issue due to coverage and set time. Did the back of the tile have dust on them from the box (the mill making these is dusty and sometimes tiles need to be cleaned before install) was the surface properly preped before you started? It needs to be a clean porus surface, if it is sealed or painted the tiles will not stick. Those are the most common issues, I hope this helps
