- They are correct. Well almost. The Rockers are what can be adjusted. They are too far away from the valve and are starting to hammer on them instead of just moving them. You will not cause immediate damage by riding it but you could wear out the rocker completely and drop a valve into the engine which would be very costly. Best to get it repaired soon. Make sure they install new rockers and springs. The main cause for this is poor oil maintenance or poor grade of oil being used. Always use a GOOD synthetic oil and your motor will last 10 times as long
- Q: In my condo, I have what appears to be a water relief valve of some sort right after my water inlet pipe. It's after the water cutoff valve. It's not the water heater relief valve. It has a leak, not bad, just a drip right now. It looks like a half baseball sticking out of the main inlet pipe with a bolt in the center of it. - It sounds like a pressure reducing valve. As you tighten that bolt it increases the pressure and made it leak more.It's probably not any good. I think if you go to a home center you'll find one . probably a Watts brand. They seem to be more prolific. Not hard to change.

- The heart actively pumps blood forward. That keeps it moving in one direction. On the other hand, venous flow is more passive.

- There should be a VECI map under your hood that shows you where this valve is located. In a pinch, find a Haynes manual or a Robert Bentley manual that has pictures in it. If you can find the valve, you can clean it yourself with a can of spray Gum-out. While you're at it, clean the throttle body and PCV valve, too. Hopefully, you have had the good sense to have used only genuine Toyota coolant in this car, since Toyota heads require a special coolant formulation to prevent aluminum deterioration. More older Japanese engines are ruined with improper coolant than I can write about here. Sensor damage is caused as well! You might take your car to the Toyota dealer and ask them to clean out the valve for you. Since this is only a 2 minute job, they just might do it for free. If they do, at least offer to tip the technician under the table. Be sure to power wash your entire engine bay before you take the car in. They will LOVE you for this!!!

- It sounds like you have some lime build up in the valves if you can't shut them off or the rubber gaskets inside the valves are worn. Valves are made of brass which doesn't rust. only steel and iron rust. Try tightening the packing nut. That's the nut just below the shut off valve handle. If that doesn't work shut the warter off at the water heater and take the valve apart. First remove the handle from the stem with a screw driver, next remove the packing nut (usually 7/16) then put the handle back on a turn it counter clockwise. Inspent the valve stem, valve seat and the rubber gasket or washer for wear. If you see any lime build up (it will be a hard white substance) remove it with Lime Away or one of those brands. It the valve is very old you may have to replace it. If you own the house replace the valve with a quarter turn ball valve, They are more expensive, but will last a lot longer.

- yes valve stem seals can be replaced with head on, requires cam removal and cil. pressurised with air to hold valves in place whike vakve spring is removed seal changed and spring and keepers reinstalled. If you already had this done and it still smokes chances are you have a bad valve guide.

- Q: Hey I was wondering how I can test the compression of the valves. Also if they are leaky. I'm thinking about valve rebuilding because my M series conn 8d was bought a few months ago and it was a school instrument. I like how it plays but I feel like there are things that should be done. - If you like how it plays you might just wish to leave it alone. Anything you do is going to change the way it plays, perhaps to something you don't like. Check compression by pulling the valve slide part way out, wait a second or two and then push the key, as the air fills up the partial vacuum cause by pulling the slide you should hear a nice thunk. If there is no noise when you push the valve the air is leaking around the valve and that's bad compression. Another way to check is just slowly withdraw the valve slide. It should get harder as you pull due to the vacuum, if it comes all the way out it should pop.
