- Q: So ground wire, start anywhere i suppose?Where does ground wire hook up too?why you need to ground out your system?Only need 1 ground wire?
- The ground wire in an automobile accessory installation is to make the complete circuit for the electricity to follow. Some things on cars use the frame and metal panels for grounding, but for an amp and some radios you probably should not. The battery is grounded to the frame and to the engine.
- Q: Theirs a green ground wire, a white neutral wire and for some reason 3 black wires.
- it could be for the lights if its an option otherwise connect all the black together to the hot wire. What does the instructions say? worst it can do is trip the breaker.
- Q: I want to connect a fan with light and pull chain only to a box that has the old wiring black and white to the new wiring black, white and green. Is this possible and how do I do it.
- Jim W. is spot on. The old wiring may not have a grounding conductor, and the fan would not be grounded. Check to see if there is a old screw in the back of the inside of the box, that is holding down a bare wire. If so, as long as the ground wire has not been cut anywhere, and is still connected, it should be grounded. Any electrician can test it with a tester, and tell if the box is grounded. If not, you are connecting the green to the box, but it is not connected to anything. MAKE SURE THE BOX CAN HOLD THE FAN, and in the installation instructions, it tells you to add large wood screws, through the mounting bracket, into SOLID wood. If the fan is not tight, it WILL wobble..
- Q: we need to know how an electrical wire is measured. When you say for example a stranded tw wire 2mm2 does it mean 2mm square or 2 square mm meaning the area of the wire? does the measurement or size indicated in the insulation includes the insulation itself when measuring the wire? how about a stranded wire? basically the question is please explain the size of thw or tw wire stranded or solid wire indicated on the insulation. And how it is measured. does the insulation included in the measurement or just the copper wire inside that is measured.
- strandings of the wires equal a gauge. ex: 7strands of 30gauge wire equals 22 gauge. gauge is a size of either a solid wire or smaller stranded wires to equal that size
- Q: i bought a wiring kit off OKorder it was a bullz 4 gauge kit. and i am running a rockford 500.2 n its rated for 700+ watts. so do you think my cheaper wiring kit is affecting performance? should i go snag up some bigger power wire for more power to run through it or is tht not how it wokrs?
- you should add a capacitor to your system. a 5 fared should be good. it is a reserve for when the bass hits. it's less stress on your alternator and battery. and you won't get the headlight dimming affect when you have it cranked up. ask your local car audio shop. you should be good with 4 gauge.
- Q: My light switch has three sets of three wires (like conduit).. there are three black wires, three white wires, and three bare wires.. and I don't know how to hook up another light switch because it's near impossible to get three wires around a screw terminal. My boyfriend (works in maintenance) hooked a light switch up (one that you put the wires in a hole and then screw) except for the bare wire where two wires are under the screw terminal and the third is wrapped around the other two bare wires. The lights will stay on but when you turn the switch off, it kicks the breaker.. can anyone tell me why it's doing that? Thank you.
- What it sounds like is happening there is that the switch box is the main feed for the room. You have a set from the panel, a set for the light fixture, and a set that are downstream, such as for an outlet. You need to determine which set is which. Then cut a piece of black wire and a bare copper about 8 long. This is how the connections are made: TURN THE POWER OFF. Then connect all of the whites together with a wire nut. Connect the new bare copper to the other grounds with another wire nut. Then connect the black from the panel, the downstream black, and the short black together with another wire nut. The black to the light fixture and the black pigtail (short wire) connect to the 2 brass terminals on the switch. The bare copper pigtail goes on the green screw on the switch. Reinstall the switch in the box, turn the power on, and check your work. If the light stays on at all times, but the outlets only work when the switch is on, those 2 wires are reversed. Turn the power off, switch the wires, and you should be good to go. Hope this helps.
- Q: And if anyone could give me percise instructions on wiring subs to 1 or 4 ohm that would be great. I have two dual 4 ohm subs and need to know how to solder wires or crimp wires.
- To properly solder wires you first strip off about 1/2 inch of the jacket and twist the wires together. Now heat the exposed wires, not the solder, till you can get the solder to melt when touched to them. If you really want a pro job use shrink-tubing to finish the job--it must be slipped onto the wires before soldering, then heat with a small butane torch or jet lighter. For wiring diagrams on hooking up dvc subs I like the rockford fosgate website. Hope this helps.
- Q: I need the wiring diagram for the 1992 Lexus ES300 OE Stereo.I specifically need to know what colors (or numbers) the wires are for the front right and front left bottom door speaker.
- Here ya go, 1994 Lexus ES300 Car Audio Wiring Diagram Car Radio Battery Constant 12v+ Wire: Gray Car Radio Accessory Switched 12v+ Wire: Blue/Red Car Radio Ground Wire: Brown Car Radio Illumination Wire: Pink/Blue Car Stereo Dimmer Wire: N/A Car Stereo Antenna Trigger Wire: N/A Car Stereo Amp Trigger Wire: Pink/Blue Car Stereo Amplifier Location: Right of the glove box. Car Audio Front Speakers Size: N/A Car Audio Front Speakers Location: N/A Left Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Blue Left Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): White Right Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): Black Right Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): White Car Audio Rear Speakers Size: N/A Car Audio Rear Speakers Location: N/A Left Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Yellow Left Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): White Right Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Green Right Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): White Note: White is the common ground for the signal going to the amplifier. Good Luck!
- Q: i have a 97 chevy blazer. My fuel pump went so i purchased a new one. i did not know that the company changed the wiring on the fuel pump..all the wires are 2gether in the wiring harness and all i have to do is cut off the old harnss and wire the new one in its place. Im not sure exactly how to wire it. What do I do? do i just strip wires and twist them or what?
- it truly is a typical issue with older Chevy's. the glaring answer (the only my pal chosen for his van) is basically to maintain the tank finished (or as close to as you are able to) and use the mileage holiday meter (if it has one) or the odometer to Gage how on the breaking point of empty you're able to correctly be. Admittedly it is the cheapskate thank you to bypass, yet whilst in any different case it runs properly it truly is a robust answer. a real fix could be value prohibitive, and you're able to spend the money on a stereo somewhat:)
- Q: ok so i wired the subs to the amp now, the positive (Red) goes to the battery, the ground (Black) is currently grounded to the metal under my drivers seat. My question is does it matter the color wire is that goes to the stereo? Can i use a red or black? Does it really matter? If not, where exactly would i hook it up behind my aftermarket sony headunit?
- If your talking about a remote wire there should be a blue wire with a white stripe coming out of the wiring harness for your receiver/head unit... And run a wire from that to the remote terminal on your amp. All this does is send a 12v signal so when you turn the key on your car/truck it signals the amp to turn on. If your head unit does not have a remote wire you can run a wire from your amp to your ignition..
