Q:I have a black and white tile floor, and most everything that I have tried has left it very slick even after it is dried. Does anyone know of any homemade product to clean it? I am also willing to try comercial products also. I am tired of my family slipping.
hot water with vinegar
Q:Want to put ceramic tile floor down in bathroom. It has a lanolium floor now. What is the best way to prep, in order to have a good tile job.
If the floor is concrete, remove the existing floor covering. Use thin-set, not mortar and lay the new tile. Begin in the center of the floor to make sure the borders come out even. Remove the toilet. It makes for an easier job. If the floor is wood, use hardi-backer or wonder board as an underlayment. Then set the tile.
Q:I am redoing my bathroom floor and I am going to use stick on tiles how do I put them on? Do you just stick them on the
Make sure the floor is clean and all the old glue from previous installations has been removed. Pop a chalk mark from opposing walls so they cross in the center of the room. Start at the center and work towards the walls so that everything looks even all the way around when you're finished. If the tiles have lines or a pattern running in one direction then turn every other tile 90 degrees or it will look wavery. To help the tiles stick, stack them up and let an electric heater blow on them for 30 minutes prior to starting installation. Warm tiles are a lot easier to lay and get butted up without cracks between them.
Q:Just moved into a house with tile floors, I have fiber mopped, stick-vac‘d, wet mopped them and they still feel gritty on my bare feet. Anyone have any suggestions or will they always feel dirty?
have you checked the grouting, it may be disingrating - and need sealing or replacement.
Q:Just bought a new manual tile cutter, but it didn‘t come with instructions. Any help would be appreciated.
=== use your search box == how to use the workforce thd20 == please be aware that tile cutting is a learned art ... you have to go S L O W .. and cut at a fraction of an inch at a time if you want to avoid cracking the tile and breakage .... it is not lik
Q:I need matching vinyl tiles for my kitchen floor. they‘re about 18x18 inch. I only need about 6 of them. is it possible to have a company match the design of tile and custom make me new ones, or a company that can match them?
If you do not put it down effectively/flawlessly, sure, it is going to start peeling up at the corners slightly soon. While you'll be tempted to lay it down on top of the vinyl floor you have already got, this may increasingly make sure a vulnerable bond and create two failure facets - the adhesive on the new tile, or the adhesive on the ancient vinyl. If that you could stomach the extra work, pulling up the historical vinyl is the only technique to make the new stuff final. For an awfully small investment of round $30 which you could pick up a floor publication at your nearby ironmongery shop. While you consider the time, effort and cash involved in dwelling rennovations, these books are valuable. Excellent success!
Q:Small size tiles for external walls
Small tiles generally include 100mm * 100mm and 150mm * 150mm two or so, more than 200mm should not call a small tile, unless the individual himself.
Q:How to choose bathroom tiles
I do not know if there is no such decoration experience: most of the financial and material development are devoted to the living room and bedroom, alone ignored the bathroom, the final budget is not enough friends, bathroom wall had no choice but to hastily. Xiaobian home is like this, quoted a online encounter with the same encounter children's shoes: there have been a number of good tiles placed in front of me, I did not cherish, and now is regrettable. If God gave me a suite, I must raise the budget of the infinite unlimited, if you have to say a specific number, that is ten thousand yuan!
Q:I accidentally tiled over an outlet cover. What can I do to fix this issue with out having to remove all the tile?
Probably not much you can do except remove that piece of tile if you which one it is.... If you can find the feed wire to the rec. disconnect the elect. from that rec. and put in a new rec. somewhere else....There is a device that will tell you where the rec. is if it will read thru the tile... If you know an eletrician...Talk to him about your problem..... Probably would not be a good idea to just leave it there ...Could cause a problem over time...
Q:Or must I use Duraroc board or a similar item. Also can I use a ceramic wall tile on the floor ? I know they are of different thicknesses but would the wall tile hold up on a floor? Thanks for all the help.
You can tile over sheetrock, but if it is painted with a paint with gloss, you need to sand the wall to remove the gloss first. If the tile is above the tub where it will be wet on a regular basis, you should replace the sheetrock with Durarock or hardibacker. Wall tile can be used on the floor, but should be installed over durarock or hardibacker. In addition the sub-floor and underlayment should be at least 1 1/4 thick if the floor joists are on 16 centers, thicker if the span is wider. The biggest concern with wall tile is that it is usually glossy and slick, which means it will be extremely slick to the point of being hazardous, especially wet.
