Q: I thought that bathroom floor tiles were thicker than the bathroom wall tiles, is this right?
Thickness has nothing to do wither they go on the walls or floors. Generally speaking floor tiles are thicker , but not always.. There are several factors in determining if a tile can be used on a flor or not. All tiles can be used on walls but not vise versa. Some determining factors that dictate if a tile can go on the floor is tinsel strength ( how much pressure it can take before breaking in a special test),scratch and slip resistance ..These are 3 of the main factors that tile must be rated in before they can be allowed to be used on a floor. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there.. GL
Q: Juncheng tiles are a few lines of brand
8 other details In the process of selecting the tiles I suggest that we must go to the store to see, color and quality is difficult to see from the Internet, you can go to the store selected models, and then to the Internet to buy. No matter from which channel to buy, and businesses must be sure who is good delivery, is sent to the downstairs or sent to the home, is not free replenishment replacement. Because tiles such building materials is really very heavy, with their own simply can not move home. But also in the handling process is very likely to cause damage to the tiles, it is best to let the business to your handling, so that a problem can find him, if you find the construction team workers to move you, that tiles in the handling process is damaged, the basic It is your own money to replenish the goods.
Q: I have strip kitchen floor to sub floor. i am ready to install tiles. My question is: How to do the wet bed for laying ties later on.
I m assuming yo mean a mortar bed or a mud bed for tiles. You don t want to do this for later on as you say. You want to lay tiles soon after it s set so you don t ruin the mortar bed by walking on it. This isnt something you usually just do , it takes practice and a bit of experience and is hard work but worth it when done right. A wet bed is a base of cement that the tiles are installed as you go. Old fashion method rarely used anymore. Now a mud bed is used and then a thin set is used to adhere the tile down. If you want to do a mud bed e mail me through my avatar and I ll guide you through it. GL
Q: I live in a split level 3 story house, the outside of my house is concrete, the walls inside are concrete and the floor is tile. Several weeks ago the tile in our laundry room cracked, as if something was pushing up from underneath. This morning the exact same thing happened in our top story living room. We had tilers come out to re-tile and they said that this happens all the time, but the concrete underneath the tile was untouched and un-warped in any way. Please help? What can we do to fix this from ever happening again?
your house has settled. Nothing can remain level if the foundation is shifting underneath it. tile men are wasting your money. Permanent fix? Ramjack, maybe.
Q: If you were going to tile an entire room would you start from the walls or floor? The room is only small 12m walls 4m floor is a basic toilet basin. There are no border tiles no fllor to wall tiles.
i really dont know how to answer this question im really sorry but my moms boyfriend meant know i can talk to him and found the answer
Q: Just bought a new manual tile cutter, but it didn‘t come with instructions. Any help would be appreciated.
=== use your search box == how to use the workforce thd20 == please be aware that tile cutting is a learned art ... you have to go S L O W .. and cut at a fraction of an inch at a time if you want to avoid cracking the tile and breakage .... it is not lik
Q: Im trying to figure out how to apply (vct) Vinyl tile squares? Whats the best way to start a project? What adhesive do you use if any? Is it like ceramic with some form of grout? etc!
They are usually like giant stickers. The stickly glue is already on the back of them, if not go to a home improvement store, they have glue that you put down before applying the squares. Start in the very middle of the room.
Q: Ok.. what i mean is this. Let‘s say you have hard tile beside the toliet and water damaged occured. Once you press down on the tile you can actually feel the weakness in the tile.. Does this automatically determine bad subflooring or is it possible just bad tile, Can I just killz over the subflooring repaint and lay new tile?
Justin, tile is rigid and doesn't flex. If you can feel it move, what's under it ain't gettin' it. Sure, the subfloor is suspect, but it may also be missing proper tile underlayment, like concrete board on top of the basic underlayment. If the tile was just installed directly onto a wood subfloor, big fail. Properly installed, it should feel like it's on a concrete slab.
Q: i want to tile my house, i also want to pay less than a dollar per square foot for the materials. on top of that i want 16 tile... i know these deal exhist but i dont know where to look... please help
With all due respect; CHEAP is such a relative word. After installing multiple thousands of sq. ft. of tile, I've often been called to remediate what others have done on the cheap. SHOP everywhere. Certainly there are discount flooring places all over the globe. Beyond cheap, your greater issue might be having the quantity you need for Whole house, and a FEW extra boxes for the OOOPS factor that Murphys law so clearly states. No offense; but in KNOWING deals exist why not just shop the WWW or yellow pages; HD or Lowes for discontinued closeouts; etc. If you find any for less than $1 per sq. ft. let me know; I'll buy the entire warehouse full. Without knowing at all the size of the area you want to tile, or if you've considered Hardness grades; or if you intend to set the tile yourself; I suggest some local research. BTW... the rationale behind buying 10% or more extra; is that Tile is not produced as a common item forever, nor stocked as such. Certainly you might get lucky and find a company that bailed out of a selection of 10,000 sq. ft. or more and now the vendor has to discount it. Steven Wolf
Q: and if so, can I just put the tile on top of the sanded laminate counter top?
My main concern would be waterproofing. I can't foresee an effective way to waterproof sanded laminate? Also, waterproofing around the bowl. This will be very difficult as it requires cut tiles. Same way a bath hob is tiled, i guess, but with laminate instead of brick (may cause problems) My tip is plenty of silicone around the bowl/Tiles. And good luck with the laminate not bowing from damp. ** Speak to a tradie (tiler or builder preferably) about potentially removing the laminate and replacing with something like MDF? or even boxing out with Timber Gyprock? you got me stumped. haha. ****** You CAN pry off the laminate, however there will be nothing under it. things to think about: Distance between top of bench and rim of existing sink. Once you glue tile grout, will it finish higher than the lip/rim of the sink ? Having someone experienced to cut the tiles. They'll stick out like dog balls if they're wrong! Silicone. Silicone. Silicone! Like someone here said, silicone around the bowl, no water can get through to the laminate. Maybe there is a sealant you can use on the laminate prior to tiling? Ask around. Call builders. Squeaky wheel!
