Q: We just had our first child, and his room is right above the garage. It is noticebly colder in his room, especially the floor. I used the plastic window kits and that helped, however, the floor is still extremely cold and I would like to at least check the insulation in the garage ceiling. Right now there is drywall on the ceiling, but I have no qualms about ripping it down, not real worried what it looks like. What should I look for...I believe there is very old (50 years) fiberglass insulation but i'm not 100% sure. If there is the old insulation there...should I look to replace it? If so, with what R value...Is this a project that someone without specific experience in the field could complete? I'm pretty handy but certainly not a pro. I'm not worried at all how it looks in the garage.
This project can be easily completed by someone with little to no experience. Since you believe the insulation is 50+ years old, your best coarse of action is to tear out the drywall and existing insulation and replace with new R-30 insulation. Fiberglass insulation starts to degrade after 50 yrs. R values vary on your location and climate, but a in general an R-30 batts would work for this application.
Q: Bought a house about a year ago, and the basement ceiling is stuffed with fiberglass insulation. It's warm in the basement, especially the room where the furnace is, but we hardly ever use it.I'm wondering if all that insulation is trapping the heat the furnace gives off while it runs, preventing it from rising upstairs? Would it be worth removing it myself or just let it all stay in the ceiling? If you recommend removal what's the best way to dispose of it?Thanks!
i would just leave it for the sound barrier alone but thats just me, it really shouldnt have any bearing on the heat for the above floor, unless the floor above has radiant heating tubes underneath than you should definatelly leave it in but other wise dont worry about it .
Q: What is the best sound insulation effect?
Sound-absorbing cotton and foam can be. Not so complicated
Q: I recently installed speakers in my ceiling for my entertainment center, they sound fine but you can hear them through the floor upstairs. does anyone know what i can do?
You can reduce some of the sound transmission by putting some absorbent material above the speaker (e.g. heavy weight fiberglass insulation), but if there is much bass the only really effective way to sound proofing is using something like green glue or RSIC clips to acoustically isolate the speaker from the floor above. See the links. You would need to construct a sealed (from above) drywall/gypsumboard box. See the two websites for further info. Note that the whole ceiling will be acting as a membrane and because it is coupled to the floor above don't expect miracles. The real solution is to retrofit the whole ceiling ... but I doubt you want to get into that!
Q: What are the commonly used materials for store decoration? Can you talk about their construction process? Thank you
This look at how you installed, what you open the shop. Different business decoration is not the same. You can find a good decoration company can give you design.
Q: What are the good fireproof materials now?
Fire board is currently on the market the most commonly used material, its advantages are fire, moisture, wear, oil, easy to clean, and more varieties of color. Building fire-resistant ceiling ceilings in building exit passages, stairwells and corridors can ensure safe evacuation and protect people from the spread of fire.
Q: What is zero energy building
It seems that there is no such thing, and now only a single energy "zero energy", such as the use of solar energy or wind power to replace the power plant to send electricity, to achieve electricity "zero energy"; the use of rain after filtration into the water as a wash Rinse with the "water zero energy consumption"
Q: My studio apartment doesn't have an attic. A lot of the installation videos and articles I read online are about installing foil insulation a couple inches below the roof and above the room's ceiling. Does it matter if I install it under the ceiling (that is, the foil barrier is visible to me when inside the apartment)?Aesthetics isn't an issue. I don't mind seeing the foil. I just want to know if I can still achieve the same results whether or not I install above the ceiling. Thanks!
The foil would only radiate visible light back toward you, and fiberglass insulation ( or rigid polyisocyanurate panels covered with drywall) would create a barrier to keep the heat in your room. If just foil worked, you would assume no one would bother with installing 10 thick fiberglass to achieve an R-38 rating and spend thousands of dollars if a couple hundred of foil would do it.
Q: What is the relationship between the two? Or who is engaged in the electronics industry, can give me talk about the industry's industrial chain and technical process? Thank you.
The characteristics of glass fiber ?? The concept of glass is generally hard and fragile objects, and is not suitable as a structural material, but if it is made of silk, its strength is greatly increased and has a softness, so with the shape of the resin can finally become a good structural material. Glass fiber with its diameter smaller its strength increased. As a reinforcing fiber glass fiber has the following characteristics, these features make the use of glass fiber far more than other types of fiber to a wide range of development speed is also far ahead of its characteristics are listed below:
