Fiberglass Ceiling - concealed edge C
The tiles are manufactured from high density fiberglass wool.The visible face has a decorative fiberglass tissue and the back of the tile is covered with normal tissue.The four edges of the tile are sealed and have grooves. - Q: I'm finishing my basement in a newer home (built in 2005). The main level floor / basement ceiling is built with I-joists 16 OC. The main level is mainly hardwood floor, and I plan to have a home theater in the basement. I'd like to cut down on the noise from the hardwood floor above (walking in shoes is very loud!) and noise from the theater from coming upstairs. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this? I was thinking spray foam would be perfect, but man is that stuff expensive. Any other best bet suggestions?Thanks!
- Use 16 R-19 unfaced fiberglass batts to insulate between the joist. There is a product called Z channel that attaches to the bottom of the floor joist, and holds the wallboard off of the joist. I've seen this used many times in home theaters with great effect.
- Q: My basement is unfinished and gets VERY cold. The cieling in the basement is completely unfinished, i can see the beams and floor boards of the first floor. - yes the cold from the downstairs will effect the heat on first floor,all new homes come with the floor insulated,dont listen to people that dont know what they are talking about.

- Every home and layout is different so it's difficult to give the right answer. Adding insulation to the basement ceiling would help out and would not hurt anything but why is it so much colder in the basement? Yes basements always appear to be cooler but you might want to look into that. Typically in basements very cheap single pane windows are installed, box sills around the primeter should also have insulation in them. For your attic; at a quick glance if you can see the ceiling joists on the floor of the attic you need more insulation. Common fiberglass batts you would find are R-9 up to possibly R-19 for a single layer, you should have at least and R-28, if not add additional. In northern regions new construction they are putting in R-42. If you have a loose fill insulation the rule of the thumb is R-3 per inch of product, just a guideline if manufacture spec's are not available. Vapor barrier always goes towards the warm side; in the attic the barrier would go down or closest to the drywall on the ceiling below. Basement probably isn't has picky but technically would go up against the underside of the floor.
- Q: Hi,The felt (or whatever it is made of) ceiling in my car is falling down. I have scraped most of the residual glue off the ceiling made out of fiberglass and what I can off of the carpet/felt part. I've tried a couple of different types of two sided tape and can't get it to stick. Does anyone have any ideas?Thanks in advance...
- you need to take the head liner backing down , its held up by some screws or clips, careful not to break it, then go to a good automotive store and get some HEAD LINER adhesive , its made for the job work where you have plenty of room follow the directions then put it back in the car a second person to take out & put back in is helpful

- Don't know where you are or what type of roof we're talking about, but I would say an elastomeric roof coating would do the trick.
