Q: Does ceramic coating really make that much difference when dealing with exhaust heat issues or any heat issues for that matter? Any experience or tips with ceramic coating would be helpful.Is it really worth the cost to have a ceramic coating done on exhaust parts or is it a waste of money?Thanks.: Ceramic coating on headers does help keep a bit of the heat out of the engine bay, and covers up the rusty pipes, but I'm not sure what else it's really good for. The coating is also really brittle and will crack or chip if you drop a wrench on it, or if it's hit from below by a rock.

Q: I am looking to buy my boyfriend a ring and he works with his hands a lot (mechanics). I want to buy a strong and durable piece, but I also want it to be scratch resistant.I have heard Black Tungsten is very strong, but not scratch resistant.I have heard that Black Ceramic is scratch resistant, but not as strong as the Tungsten.Which should I pick? What would you recommend?: My Fiance is getting the black ceramic ONLY because he has to put his hand into tight places and doesn't want to end up getting stuck. This is his choice not mine. Which is fine with me, because knowing my future husband, he works to hard to have to get his finger cut off from getting it stuck in a giant unit on top of a hospital. Talk to your jeweler alittle bit about the pros and cons in his specific occupation. If they cant tell you, go somewhere else. Q: Can you mix ceramic glazes together to get a different color? like mixing pink and white together to get a lighter pink or will it not work right?: Most of the time, it will not work right. Ceramic glazes are not like paint; they're minerals in a water suspension. It depends on what the minerals are that you're mixing, and how they will combine together as they turn into glass in the heat of the kiln. If you mix yellow and blue paint, you'll get a green of some sort. But if you mix a yellow and a blue glaze, you have no such guarantee. You're just as likely to get black, brown, or a bubbled beige as you are to get green. Underglazes are a different matter. They are pigmented clay slips. You can mix them like paint, most of the time. Why don't you fire a test tile of any glazes you want to combine? That will reduce the guesswork. Edit: Coyote Clay makes terrific glazes and underglazes, but they're for medium-fire, so it depends on what clay you're using and what temp your teacher is firing (high fire, low fire, medium), so you'll need to ask. Most high schools are using low-fire stuff, and glazes from Amaco. A big art supply store would usually carry some Amaco, and they can also be ordered online at places like Dick Blick.

Q: How well go ceramic heaters work? will they heat a whole room? Are they safe? and will they give off a bad smell?: I picked up a small space heater from costco last year with ceramic in it. I have a 2 story house and use it when I'm downstairs in the living room. Mine didnt put off a smell till my dog peed on it without me knowing it, that was not pretty. It wont heat the whole room since thats pretty big but it does a great job of keeping me and the surrounding area warm.

Q: I used plaster of paris in a ceramic mold, and some plaster got stuck to the mold, i tried to wash it off but it didnt come off and now it has harden on the mold, is there any chemical or anything that can take the plaster out?: Unfortunately ceramic molds are porous, plaster of paris seeps into the pores and once dry, will lock inside the pores permanently. In order to use plaster of paris, or anything besides clay in a ceramic mold, you need to lock the pores with a release like Vaseline or mold soap. To get the plaster of paris out, you will need to grind it down with sandpaper. I would recommend using a chisel to get off the big chunks first. If you go too far, just fill it in with thick plaster and then shave it down before it gets completely hard.

Q: I went to a window tinting place and i got the ceramic for my front window, they aid it would help the inside of the car last longer and electrics also. they showed me how the difference feels in heat on a sample they had.
