Q: How do you get a stain out of a rug that was put there from paper on fire. Only a part of the rug is burned.
well, you can't remove a burn, so you'll need to cut out that piece of the carpet and replace it with a piece that's not visable, like from the closet or from under a dresser or something. Then comb the fibers together back and forth to hide that it was replaced. You also might consider instead putting a decorative throw rug over it instead. Good luck!
Q: am being charged for a new carpet at my former apartment cause it had some stains on it...i was living at this apartment for 3yrs and the carpet was never replaced during these 3 yrs.Am i being exploited?Shouldn't the landlord replace the carpet after 3 yrs of me living there?Total cost $1700 for a new carpet
We don't know when the carpet was initially installed. Was it 5 years old before you got there? Unfortunately, there is usually a process when you first sign your lease that you do a walk-through of the premises to determine if there were stains on the carpet before you lived there, damage to appliances, holes in the walls etc. It sounds like you didn't know you were supposed to do that, or weren't told. You could ask that the landlord allow you to try to have the carpet cleaned before they charge you to replace it...it shouldn't really be your responsibility to replace carpet unless you seriously did some damage to the majority of it. If they refuse, then tell them you will see them in small claims court. Just make sure you send a certified letter requesting that you are allowed to pay for the cleaning before they replace it. If you do go to court you will need proof that you sent them the letter. On the other hand, if you had dogs in your apartment, or something like that, and they determined that the carpet was torn up or ruined, you may not have much recourse. You should look at your lease and see what it says. That will help you determine whether or not you actually signed a document making you liable for those kinds of costs. good luck.
Q: What about the carpet with wrinkles?
Good clothes with hanging ironing machine is the best choice. Research shows that often use flat iron ironing clothes is easy to damage the fabric, especially for high-grade fabrics (such as stiff and aging), and the use of steam hanging ironing machine for ironing in natural suspension state, the gravity and high temperature steam (temperature at 98 degrees Celsius) under the action of both can be easily ironed, and to maintain the best in shape.
Q: My door catches on every rug i've purchased. I cannot open my front door without it dragging the rug. Anyone have any ideas where to find a very thin (yet hopefully durable) entry rug?
Try Target, Walmart, or bed, bath and beyond.
Q: My table has 2 leafs and extends to seat 8 comfortably. It's probably about 105quot; long with 2 leafs. The wide is 3 1/2 feet. I was thinking I should get a 9' x 12' rug. What does an expert think?
that sounds about right, though you might want to consider the size of your dining room also, perhaps getting an area rug that is just shy of the walls, yet that compliments not only the table, but the flooring as well.
Q: 2 days ago our carpet started leaking. None of our pluming goes underneath it which amazes us. We have no money for plumbers or anyone to check on it. We do have a water heater next to it but its in ground. and we check on it every 2 days and there are no leaks leading to it.
Here's a checklist to follow mate 1) if wettest spot near external wall, check your roof gutters, has it been raining recently? Gutters or Downpipes blocked? 2) if not near external wall, check roofing/tiles, recent rains? Cracked tiles or tile capping? Loose sheeting(if applicable) 3) is it near bathroom? If your shower or bath faucet has a leak behind the tiles it can run down the inner part of the wall and emerge metres away, follow the wet carpet trail (wear only socks as it's easier to feel) walk in a circular fashion outwards from wet patch, if harder to find change socks and stand for a few seconds each step to give water time to seep up (tissues or toilet paper are good too) 4) Check all taps, tap washers (easy to replace and about 20cents each, shower heads and tighten if needed, Teflon tape to seal 5) check that all taps are turned off and go to your water meter and see if dial is turning, if it isn't you have no leaky plumbing, if it is you need to investigate every inch of roof and basement if you have it, 6) check your washing machine hose is situated in drain and that it isn't split, spilling over etc, are your fridge and freezer defrosted regularly? Mate it's water, if it doesn't smell the health risks are very minimal, though mould is a problem, air house out and keep towels down till fixed, hope you find the leak, good luck
Q: Okay.. Stupid question:Will a horse get caught up or whatever if they decide do roll while wearing a winter rug? Or will they be okay??Just wondering, cause I'm curious :)
My horse rolls all the time with a blanket on, and never has any problems. Make sure that belly straps lay ALMOST flat against the belly, there supposed to be loose not like a girth. and the hind leg straps should never hang below the hocks. Your horse should be just fine rolling with his blanket on.
Q: We are looking for the best on the market, not the cheapest.
You shouldn t use a true pad or sorts. The best I ve seen for area rugs in a line called Rug Hold. Its a non skid underlay ment for rugs. Come in a wide variety of sizes and types . The type you need is for rug over hard surface. Now there are some felts that can be added to the backing of a rug but w/o seeing yours its hard to say if you can add it or not. Any padding for carpet will not work properly and actually be a tripping hazard, even a thin 1/4 rubber pad. Any question you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
Q: I need help please asap its do today aT MID NIGHT SOME ONE HELP PLEASE!Your parents leave you alone for the first time and the first thing you do is spill red soda on your mother's favorite, brand new white rug. You swallow hard. You
so plenty extra now as an older guy than while i became plenty youthful. I take a itemizing of places i might desire to offer up for the errands and a itemizing of the failings that i might desire to purchase. wallet funds. keys. colors. cap or hat. cellular telephone. handle or mapquest guidelines if taking the dogs then puppy baggage puppy treats the folding puppy water bowl Oh, I forgot the spouse.... lol
Q: The other day I just found out that I had a hand-made rug that was made in Iran and bought by my grandparents about 10-15 years ago, the rug is about 6x8 and they paid around $2000 dollars for it.My question is what is the proper way to clean a rug that is hand-made? It has not been cleaned in years only vacuumed... and also is there a market place for these rugs? if I do decide I want to sell it.
Hi, If your rug is worth that much I would have it professionally cleaned by a reputable person that specializes in cleaning persian or oriental rugs. It usually cost from 1-2 dollars a square foot. These companies have special tools that they dust the carpet with. They use compressed air with special tools that get out deeply embedded dirt that can make the foundation of your carpet dry and brittle. Often these companies have washing pits that the rugs are cleaned in that mimic how they were once cleaned in flowing rivers. They can dry your rug with air flow which is important to not leave a rug wet. They can inspect your rug for damage. Chemicals or steam cleaning should not be use as the natural oils of the wool are removed. Yes there is a market for these rugs so you should have it appraised by an experienced persian rug evaluator. Then you will have a market value if you decide to sell it but also for insurance purposes. Hope this helps.
