Q: I’m moving to Las Cruces, NM in about a week and I need to get my carpets cleaned. Can anyone recommend a good carpet cleaning service? Preferably good carpet cleaners that are can remove difficult spots and stains from light colored carpets.
I'm actually in Dallas, TX, but a great way to find a reputable carpet cleaner is to go to iicrc.org, put in the area, and it will pop out names and numbers of certified carpet cleaners close by. The IICRC (Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification) trains and certifies carpet cleaners worldwide.
Q: We are getting new carpet in our house. What is the best kind of carpet that is good quality and warrenty wise. And also what colors are the best too use for a BIG living area. Thanks
As far as carpet goes pick one out that is beautiful, but can take alot of traffic. Most folks don't know that, carpet is carpet and the real secret to a plush feel is in the padding. You can spend alot of $ on fancy carpet, but if the carpet pad is not of high quality, then you might as well have purchased low grade carpet.
Q: I have a big rug in my bedroom which I would like to bring to school- however it smells bad from jsut being on the floor for so long. I would like to clean it just enough so that it won't stink up my dorm room WITHOUT calling a carpet cleaner. Any suggestions?
The best way to keep a rug clean is to keep it from getting dirty in the first place. Removing outdoor shoes when entering the house (as people do in most rug-weaving countries) is a good idea if this accords with your lifestyle. Bare-foot or sock-foot traffic is much gentler to a rug than a hard outdoor-shoe sole (or spike heel), and leaving your outdoor shoes at the entrance to the house tracks in much less dirt.
Q: We just bought a new rug from IKEA 7ft by 7ft, and its a plush rug...we bought it because our 9 month old son started crawling and his knees were getting tore up from our carpet...The rug we have it awesome, but when he crawls over it, little pieces of fuzz come from it and he balls it up and tries to eat it..and it sheds all over our carpet and is really annoying....it was a pain in the *** to bring home being soo long, i dont want to take it back, is there something i can use to make it not fuzzz off? We vaccum and vaccum and it makes it worse it seems...HELP PLEASE!!!

Q: also....what can i use for a title that has or is related to accessories in it? i was thinking about ready, set, accessorize but my poster is victorian. i dont think it matches.
1) To add warmth and comfort. Blankets can be used to snuggle up in the winter months, especially back when fireplaces were not available in every home. Rugs are used for good insultation in the cold months, and help to keep a home cozy and warm. 2) In the Renaissance periods, rugs were used as a status symbol, as well in the Baroque styles and Restoration period. Oriental, hand crafted rugs often were used to denote a status of wealth - which is why many kings had oriental rugs that adorned walls (as tapestries). Rarely were the rugs found on the floor - they were too expensive for that. 3) The more widely known reason for rugs, of course is a place to wipe your feet. It is seen as a welcoming into someones home. Blankets, as well can also be used as an accessory, when thrown over a chair, sofa, or end of a bed. They are convienent on these surfaces, because it is an easy way to add color and comfort into a space. I hope this helped a bit! Let me know if you need more help with it!
Q: How to choose study carpet?
This kind of blanket generally does not appear in such a situation, or coffee color and black, generally use hard materials, dark red
Q: can chemical fiber carpet be mopped?
yes, but shaking the dust on the carpet is enough, or wash it thoroughly!
Q: I want to redo my basement but getting new carpet is so expensive! Right now I have a really ugly green carpet with red and light yellowish squares. My kids want to make it in to a more loungey basement so the carpet is gonna be really hard to work with. Is there a much cheaper alternative to carpet or even any ideas as to how we can blend it in or make it work? We really dont want to use the colors in the carpet for anything in the basement. The basement is very very big so even semi-cheap things might be expensive. Thank you!
Throw out the old carpet, scrub the concrete floor, paint the floor with a paint formulated for concrete. Pick a happy color. Then look for some inexpensive area rugs, try thrift stores.
Q: I've seen stainmaster carpet, and I was wondering which type of carpet resists stains the best. I'm redoing the carpet in a dining room, and my cats continually pee on the carpet in this room, so I need a robust carpet. Thanks!
I have Stainmaster ... and I have 3 dogs and a cat. My carpet is not yet 4 years old, and it is destroyed. Stainmaster isn't worth the time it takes to type the word. OK, the truth is ... if a stain is just on the surface, and you catch it and clean it RIGHT AWAY ... yes, you can usually get it out. However, if it soaks through, forget it. You may be able to get most of the visible stain out, but the smell? No way. If you could replace your carpet with Pergo, tile, anything BUT carpet, I'd recommend it. If, however, you do want to use carpet, I'd look into commercial-grade carpet. That's the stuff used in department stores, restaurants, offices, etc. Not too luxurious, but pretty tough. It is a very tight carpet ... most wet stains and spills will wipe up. And it can be vigorously scrubbed without damaging it. If you buy a carpet with an allover pattern, in a medium-to-dark tone, it will better hide the stains than one that is a solid color, especially a light color.
Q: I've just moved into a beautiful older home (125 years) and, although it's been recently re-wired, there just isn't always an outlet where I need it. I live with my elderly mother and do not want to take a chance that she might trip over a cord. When I do short tasks like ironing or vacuuming, can I slip the excessive cord under a rug so that she will not encounter it with her feet. She is absolutely sure that I'll burn the house down - and she's incredibly intelligent, but I'd like to hear from a real fire prevention expert.Thank you for your expertise - I think that safety is essential - paranoia is a bit much, though!
That guy above me (GTB) is dead on and so is your mom. House fires caused by extension cords under throw rugs are in the cannons of electrical safety. So many lives lost just because someone wanted to make it look good. Back in the day, extension cords were common because of loose electrical standards dealing with required outlets. People used to equate a lot of electrical receptacles with wealth, so people went to great lengths to hide their shame by putting extension cords underneath throw rugs. All those deaths over vanity. Now that's the shame. Sorry about the history lesson and give your mom the 10 points for Best Answer.
