Q: I need to clean a spot of urine from our oriental rug (from Dubai). It may have been a day old when I discovered it. I soaked up as much as I could with a paper towel but it has left a slight stain.: The guy at the store where I bought my oriental rug said to lift up the rug and put a large bowl under it, and then wet it thoroughly with water with a little dish soap in it. If that's not enough to get the stain out, go to a pet store and ask for an enzyme cleaner. this stuff really works, but you have to keep it wet. Once it's clean and your rinse with clear water, blot out as much water as you can and let it dry. It's best to let air circulate underneath as well as on top.

Q: ive melted the carpet by accident and my mums gonna kill me! is there anything i can do!?: The question is: how big of an area? If it is kinda small 3 x 3. You are going to have to do some surgery! First way: Find a spot of carpet that is good and hidden. Like in the corner of your closet. Take a really sharp knife ( utility knife works good here) and carefully cut out the burnt part. Then cut out the exact size piece in the hidden place. Swap the pieces out. Be careful to not cut into the padding under the carpet. Do not grab a good piece that is close to a seam (you'll just create more problems). You can glue the new carpet down with wood glue, just not too much. I hope that your carpet is thick, or this will not work. Also, you don't want the new piece getting sucked up in the vacuum cleaner. I really think you should just tell your mum though. You might get into a bit of trouble, but If she finds out that you did unqualified surgery on her carpet you are going to really be in a world of hurt!

Q: My cat is constantly scratching my oriental rugs. They are extremely old and she's just always on them. Does anyone know if she can do any damage to them? If so, is there anything I can put on them to keep her off?: Move the rugs and get a scratching post. Put the cat in a different room.

I am just not sure what color would work.: Well since you have patterns on your Duvet covers already, i think it best to get a rug that is plain. instead of going for patterns go for textures (e.g a shaggy rug) any light colour would go good such as beige, white, cream or even a grey stone colour to match the headboard, no pattern in my opinion but it is your room! Q: I have a long bit of carpet, like a rug i spose but its filthy and i want to put in in my room.. do u think its safe to just throw it in the washing machine to clean??: I had a braided type of rug that I put in the washer, and it basically shredded it. I'd be careful, maybe just soak it or handwash it or something and see how it fares. If it's okay, put it in the washer on gentle.
