Properties of Electrolytic Manganese Flakes:
Manganese is an important alloying agent. It is added to improve the strength, toughness, stiffness, hardness, wear resistance, and hardenability of steels. Together with aluminum and antimony, especially in the presence of copper, it forms highly ferromagnetic alloys. Manganese dioxide is used as a depolarizer in dry cells and as a decolorizing agent for glass that has been colored green due to iron impurities. The dioxide is also used in drying black paints and in the preparation of oxygen and chlorine. Manganese colors glass an amethyst color and is the coloring agent in natural amethyst. The permanganate is used as an oxidizing agent and is useful for qualitative analysis and in medicine. Manganese is an important trace element in nutrition, although exposure to the element is toxic in higher quantities.

- Heavy Metal is an umbrella term but usually refers to Black Sabbath. Thrash is speedy, usually aggresive, with complicated but skilled guitar work Metallica, Slayer, ect. other bands have been referred to as Thrash though, System of a Down, Motorhead and Judas Priest. Death Metal is compared to Thrash Metal quite often but isn't as similiar as some say it is, it's even faster, it's also ridiculously complicated, It usually uses growling instead of traditional singing. It focuses on violence, satanism (that's more of a Black Metal thing though) and mysticism. Bolt Thrower and Death. I don't really like this particular genre. Really I don't get the difference between Black Metal, Grindcore and Death Metal other then what their songs are about though I believe Grindcore grinds with it's guitars then using standard style riffs. Metalcore is a mix of any Metal genre and Hardcore. Avenged Sevenfold, All That Remains ect. Rapcore is a mix of Metalcore and rap. Hollywood Undead and I.C.P. Only one of these groups I like is Hollywood Undead. Nu-Metal started out as another metal genre, Korn (old stuff), Slipknot (old stuff), Disturbed (changed to a mix of nu-metal and thrash), System of a Down and Staind (also the old stuff.) ect. It became more of a mix genre when other bands were more of thrown under the nu-metal label (Limp Bizkit, P.O.D., Hoobastank). A good way to categorize it would be Old Nu-Metal (the 1st list of band with some additions) and Evolved Nu-Metal which uses a Metal base but branches off with influences of rap and pop. Then you have Alternative Metal, which is basically just like Hard Rock. Breaking Benjamin Three Days Grace ect. Then there is Doom Metal, in one phrase, downtuned guitar. Black Sabbath and it's immatators.

You need to understand that metals like sodium will burst into flame if you expose them to normal air. The heat from burning sodium is more than enough to ignite metals like magnesium. - Dead By Dawn pretty much has it. 'Melodic metal' isn't so much a genre as a description. Mostly applied to traditional, power, prog and symphonic metal bands, it doesn't mean much other than metal that is particularly melodic. All music is melodic to a degree, but in this context it's metal with flowery solos, catchy choruses, soaring vocals, etc... Melodic death metal on the other hand is a distinct subgenre as DBD described. It's also called Gothenburg metal. Edit: Yes, Stratovarius are a power metal band, but their music could also be described as melodic. I'd say the easiest way of thinking about it is that most metal can be divided into melodic (above genres) and extreme metal (black, thrash, doom, death etc) this isn't a firm line, and things like melodeath take a bit of both, but I think it helps illustrate roughly what they mean.

Therefore, these great bands have become hard rock so they are not confused with the garbage that is now heavy metal. I don't have a favorite heavy metal band.
