- heavy metal, hair metal, death metal, black metal, nu metal, thrash metal, love metal. those are really the main sub-genres of metal, any others are usually either made up or just some band trying to be different. i really hate how anything can just be thrown in front of the words rock and metal. also some people will say speed metal but thats what thrash metal used to be called.

- We are a mining operation. We mine for copper and out t comes, tonnes and tonnes of copper bearing rock. But our customers do not want that. They cannot use it. They want pure metallic copper to make into pipes or whatever else copper gets used for. We need a pure plate and onto this we can deposit the copper atoms from our mining operation. We get rid of all the other stuff we don't want. But we must use pure copper to keep the copper pure in our end product, which is much greater than the bit of pure copper we started off with. Think of it like a computer is. Rubbish in, rubbish out. Nobody wants to pay copper prices for impure product.

- Depends on which metalhead you ask. Some consider nu metal/screamo to be metal, and some will only consider the harder forms of metal(black,thrash,and death) as metal. But to answer your question; I don't think just the oldish stuff (which I'm assuming means bands like Black Sabbath,Iron Maiden,Judas Priest,80s thrash bands) is metal, although traditional/heavy is my favorite subgenre of metal. I listen to a lot of new (not nu),albeit,underground/foreign metal bands. But I'm a fan of metal through and through,so I obviously appreciate the influences the oldish bands had on the genre, but I also appreciate what the newer bands are bringing to the genre.
