Properties:
Manganese has a melting point of 1245oC,specific gravity of 7.2.Ordinary manganese is a hard and brittle gray-white metal .It is chemically reactive and slowly decompose cold water. Manganese metal is ferromagnetic after special treatment.
Introduction
Electrolytic manganese metal flake is with silver gray metallic luster, hard and crisp, melting point 1245, boilling point 1962, with strong oxidation-reduction capacity. Specific gravity is 7.2. In comparison with metal manganese made by elctric warming, the electrogenerated mental manganese is of higher purity, superior quality and wider application.

- Most likely the sheet metal from Home Despot is galvanized steel. Not much for interesting patinas there, either a whitish powdery finish or a rust color, depending on how much zinc is on the surface of the steel. The best metals for patinas are copper based alloys. Brass is probably the worst, with bronze being the almost best. Copper would be the ultimate best. There may be some copper sheet at HD, or other hardware stores. You might try some roofing supply outfits, sometimes copper sheet is used as flashing on finer homes or historical restorations. As far as what chemical(s) to use, the application, and preservation of the finished patina is a whole 'nuther question. Finding the metal is the first step. Good luck

- There are litterly hundreds of sub-metal groups. way too many to list, and I am sure I miss some, so I will go over what you asked about. Pantera and Metallica fall under thrash. Well maby not Metallica anymore, but thats a diferent subject. System of a Down can go under Nu-metal, or progressive metal Black Sabbath have often been credited with being the creators of metal, so they are usualy just in the catagory of metal. However some people do like to break it up and I have heard doom metal as well. Iron Maiden I would put as metal, but some may classify them as progressive or power metal. As for the types you asked about Thrash/Speed ~ really started in the 80's band with primarily fast chunky guitars. Biggest bands in this area is argueably Metallica and Slayer Prog/Progressive/Power ~ Some elements of thrash but a lot more technical on the guitar. Vocals are generally higher pitched, and guitars are more melodic. Biggest bands in this area is argueably Iron Maiden and Queensryche Death/Grind/Core/Black/Melodeath...etc..... etc. etc Pretty much taking thrash to the next level. Faster often more technical guatars and drums. Vocals are anywhere from deep to high pitched growels and screams. There are a lot of sub catagories in this, and it covers a bretty broad range so I will list a few more bands. Death, Deicide, In Flames, Dark Tranquility, Emperor, Cradle of Filth Hope this helps some, but if it's metal, you like it, then who really cares what sub catagory it's in? It's all metal

- Most metals oxidize (combine with oxygen). Gold does not. Of the metals that oxidize, rust (iron oxide) only happens to metals containing iron. Copper and silver tarnish and can be polished to remove the oxide layer. Mercury is a metal (typically in liquid or gaseous state). Lead and aluminum also oxidize, but the compound is not called rust. Check the periodic table of elements.
