Properties:
Manganese has a melting point of 1245oC,specific gravity of 7.2.Ordinary manganese is a hard and brittle gray-white metal .It is chemically reactive and slowly decompose cold water. Manganese metal is ferromagnetic after special treatment.
The main application of electrolytic manganese metal flakes:
Manganese is an important alloying agent. It is added to improve the strength, toughness, stiffness, hardness, wear resistance, and hardenability of steels. Together with aluminum and antimony, especially in the presence of copper, it forms highly ferromagnetic alloys. Manganese dioxide is used as a depolarizer in dry cells and as a decolorizing agent for glass that has been colored green due to iron impurities. The dioxide is also used in drying black paints and in the preparation of oxygen and chlorine. Manganese colors glass an amethyst color and is the coloring agent in natural amethyst. The permanganate is used as an oxidizing agent and is useful for qualitative analysis and in medicine. Manganese is an important trace element in nutrition, although exposure to the element is toxic in higher quantities.

- Having all of their albums and having been into them since the beginning I don't consider them Metal at all (I could care less what Wiki says). Bands with some Metal overtones should be called a Metal band, Alternative or not. I like AltMetal and NuMetal so don't get me wrong but I know what is and what isn't and SOAD isn't. It's all in the lyrics, to me it's Hardcore Punk, their version of course! Then listen to the music Hugh If you know Punk well it's evident. Deer Dance, Prison Song and War? are prime examples. The argument could last forever (because I'm not gonna change) In reality System Of A Down is one of those few bands that is indeed in a genre of their own.

- Si is a semiconductor therefore, if it is heated about the transition temperature, it conducts electricity like a metal. Below that temperature, it does not conduct electricity. Other than that, it looks and behaves pretty much like a metal. Like most metals, it does not occur in the pure form in nature, it exists as Si bearing minerals, the most common is silica, SiO2. You can heat Si up and melt it and pour it and solidify it. You can melt it and add other metals to make alloys. Si is not very ductile, at room temperature it is brittle as glass. Most metals are ductile but there are some metals that about as brittle as Si. Si is an odd ball because solid Si is less dense than liquid Si so, like water ice, solid Si floats on top of liquid Si. The only other pure element that floats on it's own liquid is Bi (I think).
