Properties:
Manganese has a melting point of 1245oC,specific gravity of 7.2.Ordinary manganese is a hard and brittle gray-white metal .It is chemically reactive and slowly decompose cold water. Manganese metal is ferromagnetic after special treatment.
The main application of electrolytic manganese metal flakes:
Manganese is an important alloying agent. It is added to improve the strength, toughness, stiffness, hardness, wear resistance, and hardenability of steels. Together with aluminum and antimony, especially in the presence of copper, it forms highly ferromagnetic alloys. Manganese dioxide is used as a depolarizer in dry cells and as a decolorizing agent for glass that has been colored green due to iron impurities. The dioxide is also used in drying black paints and in the preparation of oxygen and chlorine. Manganese colors glass an amethyst color and is the coloring agent in natural amethyst. The permanganate is used as an oxidizing agent and is useful for qualitative analysis and in medicine. Manganese is an important trace element in nutrition, although exposure to the element is toxic in higher quantities.

And my experience is that playing metal strings vs nylon is mostly a matter of a different sound, not a different technique, although some techniques sound better on the metal. Of course, if you mean like heavy metal music that is a whole nother (disgusting) bag.

- The forums and reviews are full of elitist morons but the band pages are quite reliable, I use that site to look up Metal bands, I think the Metal Archives are ten times better than Wikiepdia in terms of Metal despite all the Genre Nazism and elitism that runs on that site. it's a decent site. I use that site to look up Metal bands and sometimes read reviews on albums but I don't bother going on the forums.

- I agree. The only thing coming out of America these days is some really bad Nu Metal or just some random Metalcore bands. However, Europe is the place to be if you are a diehard metal fan. You can easily find some good Black Metal, Melo-Death Metal, and Power Metal bands from Europe. The best metal bands to come out of the U.S. is Slayer, Pantera, and Nevermore and those were 90's bands. Where is the good U.S. metal today?

- My fav metal band is Judas Priest. They're a British classic metal band. Check out Nighcrawler, Hell Patrol, and Living After Midnight (more of a rock song, but still great). There's also their song Metal Meltdown... That's a good one. Also, I love Iron Maiden... Another classic metal band!!! I'm sure you know who they are ;D A modern metal band... There's System of a Down, which is my fav. They're metal, so don't listen to somebody if they say they aren't... Just listen to their Toxicity CD. They're a progressive-rock/metal/doom-metal(psyche... genre. They rock pretty hard dude. Another modern one is Children of Bodem, which is more death metal than anything...

- I am guessing that you are mentioning a solid metal bar versus a hollow metal bar. If the two have the same outside diameter, the solid metal bar would be stronger as what was mentioned earlier. When we discussed this in college, if you take a solid bar and a hollow bar, that have the same weight per foot, the hollow bar would have a much greater outside diameter which could make the hollow bar stronger when each bar weighs the same. The hollow bar with the larger diamter would have a much greater moment of inertia which could make it stronger.
