Any electrical circuit must have at least 2 wires for household service. These can be a hot leg and a neutral, or they can be two hot leads. This is typical for a split-phase 240/120 volt service. The neutral wire is the center tap of the transformer winding supplying the split-phase service. The neutral connection point at the transformer is the center tap of the transformer winding. The household system will carry as much of the total load in the 240 volt wires as possible, limited by the actual configuration of the wiring. And the only current carried in the neutral from your circuit breaker panel to the transformer is the unbalanced portion of the total load. The neutral wire in individual circuits from the circuit breaker panel always carries the same current as does the hot leg wire. The neutral is needed for single circuit runs from the circuit breaker panel to the loads. If you have a perfectly balanced load on both hot legs, you would not need a neutral from the circuit breaker panel to the transformer winding. But perfectly balanced conditions are seldom seen in the average home.
Q: US electrical tech question from a non electrically minded fag. I have a dimmer controlling a light and a single light switch controlling a fan. There is one blue wire going to the dimmer and one blue wire going to the switch. Buy a cheap 110 volt test light from Ace Hardware or Home Depot to identify whether the blue wires or the black wire supply electricity TO the switch and dimmer ( which is a switch as well). Once you have found out which one is hot all the time it is the supply, next you will need to get a wire from the switch location to where you want the new outlet to be. You will use a piece of 14/2 Romex cable containing 3 wires ( one black, one white, one bare). Install the wire in the new box, hooking the black wire to the gold screw, the white wire to the silver screw, and the bare wire to the green screw on the bottom of the outlet. At the switch location you have determined which wire is hot and the black wire is joined to that using a pair of pliers and a plastic wire nut, the white wire is joined in the same way to the white wires at the rear of the switch box, and the bare wire is joined in the same way to the bare wires at the rear of the box. You can now turn the electricity back on and your new outlet will be hot. If you are not up to the test, contact a local licensed electrician to have this easy job done for you. Expect to pay under $75 if you hire one.
Q: I recently took out my old ceiling fan, and now there is a Black, Red, And White Wire hanging from the ceiling, I bought a track light that has a box with a Green, White, and Black wire in it. Black and red are both hot wires; green is ground and white is neutral. Connect the black wires together and cap off the red one. This extra wire, the red one is for a wall switch. Connect the white wires together (neutral) and the green can be attached to the frame (ground wire). This is of course if the ceiling was wired right. If it doesn't work, switch the black to red capping off the other black wire. There should be directions with the new fan?
Q: i have two 12 gauge wires running from my battery to my sub amplifier, does this effectivly mean i have 6 gauges. each wire has a 15 amp fuse so does that also mean i have a 30 amp fuse?
Not effectivly but it will work. I strongly suggest that you upgrade your wiring to the proper gauge

A temporary fix would be to strip about 1/2 to 3/8 inch of insulation off each wire and twist appropriate wires together and fasten with wire nuts. A permanent fix would be to strip and twist then solder then cover with electrical tape and only electrical tape, no duct or masking tape.
