- Q: I have cleaned, degreased, and filled cracks in the garage floor (let cure 10 days). It has been powerwashed and swept (you could eat off of it now). I mixed the etching solution according to the directions and applied to pre moistened garage floor. The directions state that if the solution does not fizz the floor is sealed and needs further prep and that if it does fizz it will do so for 4-5 minutes. I applied the etching solution and it did fizz but for a very short time (Less than 1 min). Also, the floor does not feel very rough...in fact, I can't tell any difference from now to when there was nothing done besides cleaning. Any suggestions from someone that has used this product or has knowledge of etching would be much appreciated.
- If your floor had what is called a burnt finish when installed and is 10 or more years old, the floor's concrete finish won't bubble much at all. The burnt finish micro-finishes the concrete surface mostly eliminating the tiny air bubbles and almost tempers the concrete. Then add 10 years and your concrete is TOUGH! I am assuming you are doing a garage floor paint system and using epoxy, with or without paint chips. You have followed the procedure correctly and are ready to go. Give it plenty of time to dry after painting. Another tip to make the floor last as long as possible is to let your vehicle sit outside after running all day until the tires are cool before parking. The tires can get hot enough to ripple the paint just underneath them
- Q: It a good neighborhood. I really don't want to have to go up two flights of stairs everyday. I would be leaving with my bf so he could really do the grocery since he prefers the third floor.:)...i don't know how secure i would feel on the 1st floor........idk need advice.......
- The third floor will get you in really good shape. I had a fourth floor apartment once and got stuck in the elevator and took the stair thereafter. Had a bunch of friends over one Sunday to play cards and watch sports and up the stairs they came. Sure could tell who was out of shape and who wasn't. You will also get much better looking legs. First floor is not as safe plus you hear everyone over you walking around unless it is really insulated. I would chose the upper floor if it was the top floor just because of the noise plus you get a better view. Just grocery shop when your bf is home and able to run down and help haul stuff up. Never thought about fire tho. . .always be sure you have working smoke detectors whereever you live. That can save your life. It did mine.
- Q: I am about to remodel my kitchen in my mobile home. I am going to tile the floor, replace the cabinets and replace the sheet rock. I am not sure if I will replace the sheet rock with a backer board and tile the walls or with sheet rock and paint the walls.My question is, should I, after tearing out the old cabinets and old floor, install the new cabinets first then tile the floor or tile the floor then install the new cabinets?
- The first thing is I need to know is this laminate glue or snap together (do you want to save this floor ?) if you donot care this is how to remove your laminate First off figure which way the laminate is started this will give you a good starting point. this should just fold up ward ____/ like that once you start you should be able to take up thold laminate in 1 hour. make sure to remove all your wall base first., that is what holds down the laminate. After that is up you will have to determine what type of underlayment is on the subfloor. The most common is durock if you are putting down ceramic . If it is vinyl tiles you then should use luan (1/4 thick use the same thickness for the durock). You have to measure you length and width of the floor striking chalk lines to determine where your starting point is ( you do this with either type of floor).If you need more instruction e mailme.
- Q: Another laminate flooring question.I am laying this floor in a family room which has a total of 7 doorways. What is the best method of installing this kind of floor along(not through) doorways?
- just keep in mind that laminate floats, so it needs to be able to move underneath the door jamb. when you say doorways, are there doors or just openings? if its an opening, then you can cover it with a baseboard. if its a door, then use a dremel cut off wheel to notch out a little of the jamb, and tuck the laminate just barely under the jamb, so there is a little hollow there but you cant see it. cover the ends with a transition or a reducing moulding (sold at hardware stores, depends on if the laminate is taller, shorter or the same as whats on the other side of the door)

- Most vacuum cleaners let you adjust the carpet pile setting - if you crank it down to the minimum it'll work just fine on laminate flooring.
- Q: I dropped my brand new Duralast floor jack. I picked my floor jackup cause I didnt feel like rolling It that far and It got stuck on my coat pocket and I managed to drop It. Theres a mark on It where It hit the cement but I did finish jacking my Jeep up and It lifted It like normal and It didn't lose pressure or drop. Just wondering If I damaged anything also Im not stupid enough to get under It without jack stands.
- floor jacks are very difficult to damage... they are mostly steel.... unless you dropped it from a few stories up it will be fine

- They make paints for concrete that basically stain the floor. Some even coat it for protection. Especially good for outdoor porches etc. Just ask for it at any Home Depot or Lowe's store. It comes in most colors.
- Q: When im on a transit bus the floors are always shiny and sparkly why is this?
