Q: I'm putting on new arborite on a kitchen counter and can't seem to get get rid of the old contac glue: Use lacquer thinner. Q: I spoke to a tile guy recently and he told me that only cement board is acceptable for use in bathrooms. He said that green board is not. Why do the sell the greenboard if you cannot use it in bathrooms or areas that will take moisture?: it really depends on what is going on top of the board. if I am using ceramic tile around a tub/shower, I use greenboard. If the tile is granite or porcelain, or will be installed overhead, use wonderboard (cementboard). The additional weight of the tiles could potentially pull the green paper away from the Gypsum. Greenboard is easier to cut For anywhere else i would use either greenboard, or regular drywall and mold/mildew resistant paint, and a new more powerful ceiling exhaust.

Q: I have 2 hatchling red ear sliders and have a small tank but i'm in the process of building a cement tank for them. I wanted to know if cement tank is safe for them and do I have to have water plants in it?: probably not, especially for hatching. they could get cuts on their nose and feet, and the tank could get too hot or cold and kill the turtle.

Q: I used Black Jack roofing cement to fill a small gap where a piece of flashing was missing. Thanks for any input!: No, no, no.....don't laminate pieces of aluminum foil with plastic fibered cement as suggested. Foolish suggestion. Your glob will eventually develop a skin and slowly harden. Being summertime, it will take awhile. Keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't drop through the area your attempting to seal. When you decide to re-work the area purchase roll flashing aluminum.....you can cut it to any size or configuration desired and then the Black Jack.

Q: then how much ice will be requiredIf Specific heat of cement is 0.84 Kj/Kg KLatent heat of melting of ice is 334 KJ/Kg K: Not sure if this is a practical or theoretical question.If practical, the amount of ice must be calculated in advance, and the cement mix adjusted . If the mix is made regular, the addition of ice to cool it will make the final mix incorrect.

Q: My basement is a full apartment and in the past 2 days water has randomly showed up on the tile and grout in one spot on the floor. It's not coming from the ceiling or fridge. I am baffled! Yes, railings built of all types of materials (iron, wood, pvc, etc) can be added to existing cement steps. Yes, a small grinder will get rid of the existing post. There are several fasteners designed to attached materials to concrete. If you are attempting to do this yourself, I prefer lag bolts and shields, because they are the sturdiest and most forgiving. Any hardware store will have them and can set you up. Any big home improvement store will have both wood and pvc materials that will allow you to build the steps yourself if you are so inclined. Any decent carpenter will be able to handle this for you if you would like. If you want iron railings, they do have those at some of the bigger stores. They allow you to cut pieces and connect them to build your railing. These are cheap and will not last long. If you really want iron, find a fabricator (iron works) shop locally and have them give a price on building and if you would like installing your new rail. Depending on how many steps you have, iron will probably cost at least three to four times as much as wood or pvc.
