Rubber Cement Drying Time
Q: Please help!A couple of months ago i adopted a cat from the cats protection league. she is now starting to go out but she seems to always go up onto my cement bonded asbestos garage roof to go to the front of my house. When i call her back in, she goes on the roof to get back to my back door. Can she get asbestos fibers from the roof which is not broken on her paws.
I guess the question would be, are asbestos fibers coming off the roof? In that case they are floating around in the air and dangerous for everyone, cats or not. Asbestos is only dangerous if fibers are floating in the air and you breath them. I don't know anything about cement bonded asbestos but if the cement bonds it together then I guess it's safe. Maybe someone else knows more...
Q: how to make cement,,,,,,?
1. Drive to home improvement store 2. Ask employee Where is the cement 3. Proceed to aisle with cement 4. Purchase bag of cement 5. Return home and prepare cement per instructions on the bag
Q: Was there concrete/cement in the 1880s-1890s?
Uh oh. She forgot the Romans in her History of concrete. Their concrete work is still standing. :) But I liked the story. I know you asked about the 1800's, but if you are also interested in Roman (cementitious) concrete history, here's an interesting site from the University of Santa Barbara: id-archserve.ucsb.edu/arthistory/...
Q: They just put it on me, it worked just fine, then it came off on command without a trace (back in the 80's.) But I'm wondering what it chemically actually is.
It's called, simply enough, dental cement, but chemically, it's usually zinc phosphate. Sometimes the zinc phosphate is mixed with polyacrylic acid, creating polycarboxylate cement. and in response to the additional detail: I don't know how the zinc phosphate cement is removed, but for the carboxylate, they use organic acids (especially citric, I think).
Q: quot; What date was cement made?
The ancient Greeks and Romans used it to build the aqueducts, baths, and temples, but the modern version of hydraulic cement was developed by James Parker in the 1780s and patented in 1796.
Q: what is the Density of Port land cement, and which material is mostly use in cement.?
The okorder , especially Design and Control of Portland Cement Concrete. The major products after hydration of cement are tri-calcium silicates and di-calcium silicates. The density of un-hydrated cement is about 60 to 75 pounds per cubic foot. The density of hydrated cement is dependent on the water to cement ratio and the degree of hydration as it can change with time. The major ingredient of concrete are the coarse and fine aggregates. The density of normal concrete may vary between 135 to 145 pounds per cubic foot. The density of light weight concrete may vary between 90 to 110 pounds per cubic foot.
Q: Someone I hired to do my walkway used cement to rentrain the pavers edge, instead of edge restrainters. I found it very strange. I even pointed it out to him. He said it ok. Who am i do defy an experient brazilian mason. The cement is now cracking. My brand new walkway will not make thru the winter. I have already started my complain process.
martin couch's answer is good. Edge Retainer (Curbing) This concrete should have at least one rebar running through the centre of it lengthwise.. Also about every 10 feet (3 metres) should have a stress cut.slot filled with a meterial that will keep expand and compress. These stress cuts control cracking most of the time. This edging will crack; without the stress cuts, it will crack anywhere. With the stress cuts most of the cracking will be at the cuts which will not be noticeable. About every 30 feet (9 metres), instead of a stress cut, the concrete should have a piece of tar impregnated tentest or other material to act a an expansion joint. This helps to prevent buckling when the weather is very hot. Brazilian or not, he should know the proper way to construct curbing. One point to note; if you had this job quoted on (estimates) and hired a contractor with a price much lower than anyone else, you received what you paid for. All quotes should be within approximately 10% of each other as long as you gave each contractor the same specs. An estimate which is 15% or more below the rest is one to defininately one to avoid
Q: We need to concrete our forge floor, we need to mix it ourselves as we are in the middle of nowhere so ready mix can't be delivered. Can anyone tell us how many bags of cement and how much of aggregate for a cubic meter?
for a 4000 lb. mix you will need 6 bags of cement (564 lbs.) 1,452 lbs. of sand and 1656 lb. of gravel...this is from the batch plant for 1 cu. yd. ...when i mix by hand , i mix by volume...1 bag of cement is 1 cu. ft...so for every 1 bag of cement i would add 3 cu. ft. of gravel and 2 cu. ft. of concrete sand...by the way i have yet to see a place the trucks cant deliver it...
