- They disgust me to no end... Sometimes I can see where they're coming from, like when they say certain genres like nu metal and glam metal aren't real metal but for the most part, I think they're ridiculous. If you ask me, they're the real poseurs and obviously don't know very much about what being a metalhead is about. If they did, they'd know that going about thinking you listen to better music than others and judging people based on what they listen to is one of the biggest poseur things you could ever do in metal. Or poser as they spell it. That's how dumb they are, they don't even know how to spell poseur right.

- What exactly would you consider metalcore and how is it not metal? Bands like August Burns Red and As I Lay Dying have just as much a right to be considered metal as anything else. Elitists that ask questions like this are the reason metal is so fragmented in the first place. Hard rock nu-metal bands like Disturbed and Korn I can see being excluded but I don't understand one of the heaviest genres being left out.

- I might be a hypocrite for saying this cus i use genres quite a bit but genres and subgenres are killing music. But back to your question IMO they are all great, though im not a fan of Nu Metal and Glam Metal

- Hey Alex! This is a controversy between metalheads because, we are always saying that nu metal or glam metal is more tougher than the other. Im going with nu metal because, it is annoying when you find 40-50 year olds thinking that glam metal is still at its height blasting Ratt or Quiet Riot. Im not against glam or nu metal, just that what really bugs me is that supposebly glam metal is about being macho when actually they put makeup, which is not manly. Even though nu metal does have rap influences, they actually have more grooviness, the guitars sound more metal, but still they lack solos, just like you mentioned, something that glam metal has, and also one of the few things I like about glam metal. In nu metal they go aggressive and even though there are djs in nu metal, some how they do give some aggression to the genre. Their lyrics are have more angst than the usual glam metal lyrics that talk about girls and partying, which reminds me of todays downfall of hip hop and rap music. If you listen to nu metal, sometimes, and I mean sometimes, they have lyrics that do make sense. Glam metal does that every once and a while too when making love ballads. Whats my answer? - hardcore is at least a close relative of metal, but other forms of music like Jazz and Folk music get mixed in and no one says it's not metal, so you can't say deathcore/metalcore isn't metal and not be a hypocrite.
