Q: Okay, I got into this discussion with my roommate debating which of these genres is better. He says he thinks bands like Slipknot and Korn are better because they have a more aggressive stage presence and deep meaningful lyrics. I'm not saying they suck, I'm just saying that I believe that old metal bands are far better than new metal.I will agree with him that there are some pretty good guitarists in those kinds of bands, but with lyrics like I will eat your heart then wear it as a hat I have a hard time comprehending with that. I told him that it was because of bands like Led Zeppelin, ACDC, Aerosmith, and Van Halen that these new metal bands exist. Bands like Slipknot may be good in the musical talent sense, but they'll never be as big or as iconic as Led Zeppelin. Plus, I know for a fact that these guys wouldn't come as close as good as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, or Eddie Van Halen. So what do you guys think? Winner Gets 10 points!!!!!
Heavy Metal (20th Century) - Black Sabbath, Deep Purple Heavy Metal (All Time) - This one seems kind of weird, the only century that has had traditional Heavy Metal bands was the 20th century so it is just a repeat of the last one. Groove Metal - Pantera, Sepultura(Arise, and Chaos A.D. era classifies as groove metal I believe.) Thrash Metal - Slayer, Coroner Progressive Metal - Opeth, Dream Theater Speed Metal - Motorhead, Venom Gothic Metal - Tristania, Sirenia Symphonic Metal - Epica, Nightwish The other four genres I'm not going to answer because I don't like them much. I've replaced them with four other genres that SHOULD be on this list. Doom Metal - My Dying Bride, Draconian Death Metal - Death, Entombed Melodic Death Metal - At the Gates, Amon Amarth Black Metal - Bathory, Enslaved
Q: To all of the Metalheads out there, do you really HATE when people try to classify something as Metal when it most certainly is NOT Metal? You know what bands I'm talking about.-Everything with the word quot;corequot; in it.-ScreamoWhat do you call Metal?Whoever answers most closely to my opinion gets best answer.
Personally, My fave is Bodies by Drowning Pool, there's also Slipknot, Serj Tankian, System of a Down, Linkin Park, Nine Inch Nails, and def some Metallica (mainly older stuff, but you might like the newer stuff too). Just find some older CDs at Co-op or some other store like that, where you can buy them used instead of spending too much green on something you don't like.
Q: please give a note on metal age.
Metal is the generic name for several pure chemical elements and they alloys that can be made from them. Steel is used to designate alloys that consist mainly of iron, with a limited proportion of carbon in them.
Q: Two different questions metal and death...
Black metal is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal music. Common traits include fast tempos, shrieked vocals, highly distorted guitars played with tremolo picking, blast beat drumming, raw recording, and unconventional song structures. Death metal is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal music. It typically employs heavily distorted guitars, tremolo picking, deep growling vocals, blast beat drumming, minor keys or atonality, and complex song structures with multiple tempo changes.
Q: I was pretty sure that metal is referring to music from heavy metal bands like AC/DC, KISS, Judas Priest, Metallica, maybe even Led Zeppelin. But now I'm hearing all of these lesser new bands calling their music metal and it is not at all the same.It irritates me, so I'm wondering if I have the wrong definition all together, or if this new music is just trying to latch on to older and better bands. Thanks
No, they're not. I see no resemblance between Venom and black metal. Their style of music was closer to thrash metal and heavy metal than anything else. They had a album titled 'Black Metal' but that doesn't really mean anything, it's just that they were popular around the time black metal was getting into the scene, so they would be considered some kind of pioneers of the black metal sub-genre. As Metal Injection article claims: ''Their album 'Black Metal' gave birth to a sub-genre unlike the world has ever known before. Although the music style of the LP remains more reminiscent of thrash, the lyrics and imagery associated with the record turned out to be the single biggest influence in spawning the early Norwegian Black Metal scene nearly 10 years later.'' Mayhem, Burzum, Immortal and Emperor cite Venom as true originators of the black metal message. Still, I don't think this is the reason to call them black metal because they sound nothing like it, and let's be honest; black metal is mostly characterized by its screamed, harsh vocals and raw guitar riffs. Venom doesn't have these aspects within their music. Some people consider them to be black metal which is just pathetic. Just because they influenced the sub-genre, it doesn't mean they belong to it. Musically and lyrically, they may have had some influence on black metal, but I still wouldn't consider them to be black metal. To add, the vocals are certainly NOT black metal. Cronos uses thrash type of vocals, not screamed and harsh black metal vocals. I think that bands like Bathory and Celtic Frost had a far greater influence on black metal than Venom ever did.
Q: BQ1: Is AC/DC heavy metal?BQ2: Is Deep Purple heavy metal?BQ3: Is Van Halen heavy metal?BQ4: What is your favourtie heavy metal band?
I know of Black Heaven... it's a pretty light anime with romance, it's about the main character re-establishing a metal band. I haven't actually watched it so I'm not sure how much music is in it or exactly what it's like, but it has some kind of metal...
Q: What are two synthetic metals (not naturally ocurring) on the periodic table??
It depends on their stability with other elements. The charges determine how many electrons it is giving up to a non-metal.
Q: Pick ONE song for each genre that could best sum up what it's all about, in your opinion.Thrash MetalPower MetalBlack MetalDeath MetalHeavy Metal(in general)
From autumn to ashes. I cant put a name to the genre i like... its wide
Q: This is my Physics homework and I'm stuck because I was ill for a few lessons.Whole question: ''Compare the similarities and differences between the process of conduction in metals and non-metals.''
Metals will weaken acids so the pH will get higher. e.g. dilute HCl pH =1 add metal e.g. magnesium pH MgCl2 solution = 7
Q: when i say metal. i mean metal... not this sissy emo bullshit
It means that Metal B is denser than metal A so it takes longer to warm.
