How a fixture is wired depends upon its location in relation to the wires that lead from the main service entrance. So really no one can tell you for sure how to wire your ventilation fixture up without Seeing it. Also, how many switches are involved..1,or 2 or 3? Usually, White wires are always neutral, black always hot. BUT- in certain switch installations both black and white wires could be hot too. Red wires are used for grounding. Now there are improved grounding systems for greater safety, other colors involved, and jumper wires that are connected to the receptacle for a continuous ground. So that is why every one has answered your Q with caution about telling you how to do it. Sorry, I wasn't much of a help either!

- Before you go through the painful task of rewiring all your speakers, don't. Go to a stereo shop and purchase the amp bypass plug that is available for your Explorer. It will plug into the 2 plugs you pulled out of the factory amp which will allow you to connect your radio to the factory harness in the dash as normal. You also want to use the proper adapter harness in the dash for that. It will be color coded to the aftermarket radio so there will be no question as to which wire goes where. - I would use 16 gauge. you can go a little bigger, or smaller. The biggest issue you will have ( vehicle depending ) is getting that wire thru your accordion boot and molex ( the rubber thingy that protects your wires, shaped like an S, and goes from the chassis to the door) <~ that's not talking down to you, but if other people read this, they will know exactly what it means also :D Unless your running a ton of power to your doors, you really don't need thick wires. As to the other part, It's not the speaker wire you need to keep away from your power wire, it's your RCA cables.. The rule is power wire goes down the battery side of the vehicle, and the rca's and remote turn on, go down the opposite side, if possible. That way you don't get alternator whine( when you accelerate, a high pitched whine will play thru your system, and make you Bat-S#it crazy :) Good Luck!
- Q:I'm replacing the door speakers in a 2001 Coupe Camaro with the factory sound system. I needed to know which wire was positive and which was negative so I bought a circuit tester. However, I keep getting the reading that both wires are positive. What could be causing this? I know the circuit tester works because I tested it on the battery terminals and it worked fine.
- 1 end goes on the negative post of the battery and the other end goes on any ground. some are grounded on the alternator bracket.
