- Q: You have a 3 foot wide wire, vs a .3 inch wire. They are equal length. There is 3 volts going through each wire, to power your 1 volt LED. So, would the 3 foot wide wire have less resistance ? I don't even think it would work.
- 'sure` bigger wires have decrease resistance. 'No' on the transformer component of your question. With the transformers, 'magnetic saturation` performs a substantial section in cutting-edge limiting. The impedance of a transformer isn't in effortless terms resistance. Google or Wiki 'Choke coil'
- Q: I have a wire coming up from my basement that has 3 wires (red, green and yellow). I want to connect cat5 wire to that (twisting the wires together) and run the cat5 to an RJ45 box. What's my diagram going to look like?
- if you are using for phone, then you will just need to be concerned with green/red and blue/blue white for line 1 and yellow/black orange/orange white for line 2 line #1 greenblue/white redsolid blue line #2 (not required to connect if you only have 1 phone line) yelloworange/white blacksolid orange polarity is not important with modern telephone equiptment, so as long as G/R=BL-BL/W and Y/B=OR-OR/W then it does not matter if the striped wires are reversed from the list above... seeing your question again.... there is a wire missing, if you strip back the outer sheath of the wire you should find a black wire as well.... but green/red is the important pair for line #1
- Q: Okay, I just started tearing into my partially finished basement of the home I bought last week. Some of the electrical wiring is interesting to say the least.I have a junction box in the basement. One wire connects directly to the panel, another out to an outlet, and the third goes up and out to half the house. All of this is 14/2 except the quot;thirdthat runs up and out. This is wired with 14/3 but the third wire isn't connected to anything. Should I be concerned considering every outlet in the house works?
- My entire House is wired with 14/3....and besides the previous owner doin it all by him/her self and making a few of the neutral lines live and vice-versa, everything works, if the third wire isnt connected to an outlet or another junction, etc., the last owner just removed an outlet or junction, and didnt cut the third wire(im assuming its a live wire) and as long as its not connected in your panel, you should be alright to either cut it and forget, or to maybe take out the 14/3 wire entirely, but if its still connected to your panel, try to find out where it went to and if it can be removed and not disrupt power flow elsewhere, as long as all the fuses are on, you can just test it and if it has no power, cut it, but always test for power, and from my lovely wiring mess, try connecting it with what should be a live(red or black) and what should be a neutral(White), just in case they aint.....else youll be zapped, and that aint to fun Or You can add a new outlet(s) if its still connected in your panel, or just make sure to cap it off, and remember the tape, it seems useless, but it prevents future problems if the cap becomes loose
- Q: There are two switches – the left is for the fan, the right is for the light. They operate independently. I want to replace the light switch with one that has a motion sensor. There are four sets of bundled wires coming out of the back of the box. Each bundle has a white, a black, and a copper wire. Two black wires come out of each switch. The top wires go into two of the bundles in the back of the box, the bottom wires are connected with each other and with two more black wires coming out of the other two bundles coming out of the back of the box.All the white wires are twisted together with a red cap. All of the copper wires are twisted together with another red cap.My motion sensor has a red, black, green and yellow wire. The directions say the yellow wire is not used, because this is not a 3-way light. Is there a straightforward way to do this?
- Sure is!. You wire it exactly the way the instructions say to. Which is to use the 2 wires on the existing switch. The bare wire on the switch (if present) is the ground and goes to the green. Just like the instructions say. You are apparently letting all those other wires scare you. The motion sensor is nothing more than an automatic switch. It does the same thing the existing switch does, using the exact same wires. Do Not touch any of the existing splices. Look again at the instructions. Take a deep breath and have at. I've been in control cabinets with Hundreds of wires in them. I ignored all but the ones I need to work on. Other wise I would still be there trying to figure it out! (chuckle)
- Q: I know that most wire is copper, however, I found this wire that is silver in color. So that got me to thinking, what other metals are used in wire, and, are they all non-magnetic?
- It was made of tin and copper alloy. Outside coated with silver color tin to prevent rusty. This alloy is non magnetic. Other type wire or special cable were made with strand steel + copper like high voltage power line. Or like TV cable uses aluminum jacket shield copper coaxial cable.
- Q: how do you connect two copper wires together
- You could try solder. I usually just twist them together and then cover them with electrical tape, although, I guess that's not the proper way.
- Q: I need the wiring diagram for the factory radio of a 2008 ford explorer. i need to know which wires are for the back speakers so i can connect my Hi-Lo converter to it!? thanks
- I'm sorry to tell you this but I have searched on several occasions for automobile wiring diagrams and have yet to find one. I don't think they post them on the web. IMO your best bet is a Chilton or Haynes manual for your vehicle. If someone does give you a good site I would be very appreciative if you would forward it to my profile.
- Q: My house is currently wired using Cat-5 lines. If I were to replace the Cat-5 wiring with Cat-6 wiring, would I see an increase in my DSL speed?
- you have to have speical equipment to use cat-6, so no if you did that it would still be the same as using cat-6
- Q: have a kenmore dryer with 3 wires now had it will not dry need info on wiring it so it will dry
- A dryer that does not heat usually has a burnt out heating element. Disconnect it from power and test the heating element with an ohm meter. Replace the heating element if the resistance is too high. A wiring diagram will probably not help.
- Q: What are the range specs when testing resistance on your spark plug wires ?
- 6-12 ohms? Huh That person is WAY off. Stock type plug wires will have 3,000 to 5,000 ohms per 1 foot of wire Cheap parts store plug wires may have 4000-8000 ohms per 1 foot of wire High performance wires like MSD will have 40-50 ohms per 1 foot of wire
