Q:I recently renovated my upstairs bathroom and used a vanity top with a pre-attached undermount sink. The sink didnt have an overflow hole, but I didnt think that I would have a problem until my girlfriend left the water running with the drain closed!What I want to know is if it would be practical to do something like drill a hole in the sink and somehow add an outlet that would connect to the drain. Q:My husband recently fixed a leak in the bathroom tub (sealed something) and obviously had to turn the water off while working on this. Since then the hot water in the bathroom sink does not work when we turn the faucet on (the cold water faucet does work and come out fine). Also not the kitchen sink has a delay when turning it off (water comes out about 5 seconds after turning off) Any ideas why this may be occurring?: He might not have completely turned the hot water valve back on at the water heater ( or if there is a cold feed that one has to be full open too. I doubt this is the problem though. I think somewhere in the process of fixing the problem small bits of rubber and crap in the pipes was pushed forward when he turned the water back on and got stuck in the hot water cartridge in the faucet. Have him shut the water off under the sink , remove the cartridge ( or stem) and put a rag over the hot water opening then turn the valve under the sink back on for a few seconds to blast out whatever is in the pipe. Then he can try to clean the cartridge out or evaluate the condition of the washer on the stem if it isn't a cartridge. Assuming the water came out full force when the cartridge/stem was removed it is resolved by cleaning or replacing. If no water came out, it is time to work your way back down the plumbing system to see that everything is turned on. Once you have eliminated everything you can, it will then make sense to call a plumber if the hot water still doesn't work.

Some one please help oh and tell me where I could also get it.: Before you waste any money on those one-shot solutions, try this: Find a largish pair of pliers and take the P-trap under the sink loose. Put a bucket or large bowl under before you get it loose. Any water still in the pipe and sink will come out. Tip the P-trap (it's called that because of its shape, not because it's full of pee) and look in it. Can you see the clog right there? Fish it out. Problem's fixed, no money spent. No clog? Reach up into the tailpiece coming down from the sink. Sometimes the clog gets stuck up there (weird when it does, but it happens). Reach into the pipe going into the wall. Fish around, try everything. A cheap drain snake costs about what a gallon of Drano costs, and besides working better, works over and over. Try that instead. Your Drano you use one time and it's gone; the drain snake you use now, hang it up and use it next time, and next time, etc. Got it all? Great, put it all back together. Check for leaks. Job's done! Got a leak? Make sure the washers are pointing the right direction, if they have a shape. Rubber ones are just rectangular in section, hard plastic ones are cones. The nut bears against the flat side, the sharp side wedges between the two pipes as you tighten the nut. Good luck with it.
