- Rather than guess the size it would be best if you could try other ponys' rugs which would give you a good idea of the size you need. Sizes can sometimes vary between manufacturers. Your Connemara pony should be fairly hardy and might not need rugging up much unless the weather is really bad or he/she is clipped or getting on a bit. If you can afford it a basic wardrobe would be: 1 lightweight outdoor 2 medium outdoor 1 heavyweight outdoor with neck (only if it gets really cold where you are) 1 light indoor 1 medium indoor 1 fleece (can be used as a cooler) This sounds like a lot of rugs, but they should last for years and your pony will have rugs for every type of weather! Remember, outdoor rugs get soaked and filthy so you need to have a few. Indoor rugs should be washed regularly to ensure they stay breathable. Most fit in a normal washing machine. Sometimes it is possible to buy really cheap rugs at shows and auctions, but some are useless and it is best to buy a decent brand, such as Weatherbeeta. Make sure the rugs fit well and check fittings regularly because badly fitting rugs can cause a lot of discomfort for a horse and can also be dangerous. Now's the time where you might get some good deals on reduced rugs so have fun buying!

- An empty place the carpet can be done , ripped out and replaced in a day with a 2 man crew. A one person operation may take 2 days. That you can find out when you schedule the job. With rip out , disposal, new carpet and installation, your looking at 3000$ ( +- of course) . This is based on the 1000 s/f you say. This may not be all carpet.. - Meaning is it is best not to lay where there is most likely to cause a fire , the kitchen is generally a family source of fire, if you really want to decorate the kitchen, do not lay it for safety reasons
- Q: does anyone have this carpet cleaner? I saw some good reviews on this and it is in my price range. But in the reviews it didn't say much about cleaning up pee stains. I need need this carpet cleaner to specifically clean my dogs pee stains. If you don't know about this carpet cleaner any other suggestions on another carpet cleaner?
- Cleaning up pee isn't much different than soda pop or orange juice, etc. It's a matter of steaming to release, then a wetvac extracts the substance and steam. Repeated passes will increase the effect. If you have stains in the carpet, the pad underneath may be compromised, in which case no steamer will get all the ammonia out. Best thing to do in that case is to have the pad replaced. If that's not feasible, at least find the enzyme treatment which helps break down ammonia -- usually it's at the vac rental area of the store.

- Q: I recently moved house and my real fix fur rug isn't large enough to cover the floor in my room, so my question if, if I go and kill some foxes tonight, how do I skin them and how do I attach the skins to the rug without making it obvious where i have sewn them on?Also, what shall I do with the remains, is fox edible?
- Yes fox is edible... but save the brain. Tanning a hide is a skill that requires practice. I can tell you how but I suggest practicing on something you don't plan to have every guest at your house have a look at. Also some sewing skill would be needed to mend the two rugs together, and foxes aren't large animals so more than one will almost definitely be needed. To tan a hide: Skin the animal at the leg and stretch the skin out very taunt. You will need a tool for scraping ( something sharp but rounded enough not to tear the hide). While the hide is stretched, scrap of the epidermis of the skin with your tool (on the side without fur obviously). Its important to keep the hide wet during this process. Keep a bucket of water nearby to wet it down with. After the hide dries from anywhere from a day or a week (still stretched) untie it and cut it to the size you need it. Now rinse it in a mixture of a half - a whole gallon of water and the foxes own brains (yes, the brains). Rinse, wring it out, rinse again. Over and over and over until your tired. Next stretch the skin out some. Give it a tug with a partner to loosen it up. Then you have to smoke the skin with a dark smoke (most likely from old rotten wood). This will cause the white skin to tan (hence, tanning the hide). Tan the fir side as well but no where near as much as the inside of the skin. Once its a golden brown you can sew it onto your first rug. Whew lol. This is just the general jist of tanning a hide. There are many other methods that I don't know about. - Q: Yesterday morning the toilet supply line to our toilet burst, and as a result we had crazy flooding. I would say close to half the carpet in our 2 bedroom apartment was drenched, with the neighbors downstairs getting a lot of the extra water.Anyways, they have removed a lot of the padding and set up fans under the carpet to dry it. Here almost two days later the carpet is close to dry, but this places reeks of that lovely mildew smell.....Everyone I have talked to said they should have just replaced the carpet. Do you think we can request they do it if the smell persists?
- No, it isn't their fault. If anything, it's your fault. They probably will replace it but you will have to play for it. While you are living in someone else's house, you are responsible for most of the stuff which goes wrong.
- Q: so in my room i have a carpet which my mother told me that when our apartment was built they sticked the carpet with a special glue... under the carpet there are tiles..... but the glue is stuck to the tiles and i pulled the carpet to see whats happening under it because i really want to remove it because its unhealthy.... and i poored hot water and chlorine on and i took a knife to scratch it and the tiles wallpaper (however the call that thing) disappears and all i see its something black... what is that and what can i do now???? i already ripped a lot my carpet... any suggestions? what is that black thing??? is it the cement of the tiles?
- First you do not need to put chlorine in with the water. The black paper ( is that what it looks like?) could just be something that was used to even out the floor's surface. Forget the knives and scratching! Adhesives ( glues) are sometimes soluble with water.. Sometimes with heat - you heat the glue moderately with perhaps a steam iron or a hair dryer, the glue will loosen enough to pry back the carpet. Otherwise- and this is totally out of range of my experience- solvents are sometimes used. I would not recommend using any kind of flammable solvent. Instead of knives find a wide putty knife to help lift the carpet off the tiles, this will get a larger area up off the tiles and will not scrape or gouge the tiles nor is it likely to slip and cut you. And you can get one for a few dollars. Work a little at a time- maybe it will take you a day or two- and wear safety glasses when you pull up the carpet because it is easy to get a small carpet fiber into your eye and it is a pain to get it out!
