Q: So, me and my family rent our house. But it has the worst carpet ever. So, i was wondering if its possible to get a huge rug that will cover my room, instead of re-carpeting? If so, where would i get a rug that size?: I have found some large rugs at Goodwill. In my state prices vary a lot, but the cheapest price can be gotten with a little haggling at Goodwill and my cost of this used bedroom rug cost me just $20. If Goodwill is not available where you live then try thrift stores or the Salvation Army Thrift Store for sales and or auctions. You could save lots.

Q: I have a little 3x5 brown and beige zebra striped pottery barn rug in here, but I want to move it into my bedroom because my mom painting some amazing zebra paintings for it, and the rug simply goes with my decor in there. I love that this rug is a little eccentric in my living room- that it's mismatched in a matching kind of way. I need to do this with another rug. I'm really drawn to cream flokati rugs, and it'd be a nice neutral in here (because my paintings are very colorful).: A rug with either black, white, hot pink, turquiose would work.

Q: hand woven native american wool rugs: I would contact a high end rug store in your area (the kind that sells persian, antigue rugs etc) or even by emai or phonel:Larger cities have many (such as NY, Atlanta, LA). Generally, the rugs might need to be cleaned prior to storage as grime dirt help to break down the fibers. Then they must be rolled (never folded) and put into unbleached muslin bags for cleanliness. Cleaning must be done by someone especially trained to work on vintage, collectable rugs (again this info can be gotten at a fine rug store).

Q: has any one had them out to clean your carpet and if so is it worth the money? give me some stories good or bad about them: Used them many times and they are very reasonably priced. If you aren't moving your furniture (which we didn't) make sure they put everything up on blocks so as not to stain the carpets until they dry. It's a normal procedure for them but they can mess up and your wood or fabric that touches the wet carpet will stain it. When they are done your carpets should only be damp and not wet to the touch. If they are wet don't let them leave until the carpets are only damp. Stanley Steemer is a franchise operation so not all franchises are great. I use them for a whole house cleaning but use my own steam cleaner much more often. I have saved a lot of money by owning my own steam cleaning machine which is a Bissell. I can keep up on carpet cleaning routinely as opposed to waiting until the carpets are in dire need. I would recommend after you use Stanley to buy your own cleaner.

Q: I have carpet in my great room. The color is desert sand. I have two small children who have spilled drinks and other things and stained the carpet in several places. Is there a home remedy to cleaning this carpet without having to hire Stanley Steamer or rent a rug doctor? I have a Bissel steam cleaner, but it just doesn't do the job.: I too, have kids (and a dog...) and I know how tough it is to keep up when it comes to the carpet. There are powder carpet cleaners that work great. I know you can get them at Oreck or Sears, and I'm sure other places as well. These are great products because you don't have to wait for the carpet to dry after using. Also, try Basic H-It's a Shaklee product and works wonders on all kinds of stains. My sister got me started with Shaklee and not only are their products environmentally safe but they really do work great! As you stated that you have small children, cleaning chemicals may not be something you want to put on your carpet.

Q: Which is more harmful to the human body, the plastic carpet or the cement?: Plastic carpet is more harmful than plastic carpet to human body.

Q: We are going to replace our flooring in the basement, it has very expensive cushony white carpet, and over the years with kids and dogs, it no longer looks white. Our basement is just under 1000 sq ft, and don't really feel like ripping all the carpet up. Its a very warm, dry basement, no dampness or leaks. So could I just put the laminate over this instead of using an underlay? Or is that just asking for trouble later on?: it will eventually become uneven after a year or two. if you dont want it uneven and looking like it was done by a 10 year old i would tear up the carpet

Q: Alright , so we forgot and left the portable heater on the carpet and overnight it caught fire and burnt the carpet, its a pretty huge area.. Any idea's of how to make it less visible or even patch it ?Thankks MUCHHH .: yes, a carpet installer can patch it if there can be found a piece of carpet that closely matches it.if you can get it at a carpet store that would be the best,otherwise you can take a piece out of a bedroom closet or somewhere it won't be as noticeable.you can do it yourself but it is very complicated to explain on here.basically it is like a patch.

Q: We have white carpet and I want to know some of your experiences of what has worked the best.
