- Q:testing cement resistor by mulitmeteror digital tester
- Never heard of a cement resistor. Could be CERMET? But to test a resistor, connect the leads of the multimeter across it, (it has to be disconnected from any other circuit components) set the multimeter to the ohms mode. .
- Q:calcium carbonate + ??? = cement
- very complex product...much more so than you seem to expect. See the wiki below
- Q:my bottom part of my front teeth just fellcan dental cement help?oh..and it was root canal already..
- Temporary cement won't unfortunately help that much. You can resin filling placed to bond the pieces together. However, the ultimate restorability of the tooth depends on how far down the crack extends.
- Q:more accurately how should one space floor boards on a cement slab subfloor? every 4quot;...6quot; also any recommendations on what type of plywood/board to use? should i use insulation or just concrete board?

- Q:could you please tell me a precise price for a square meter of cement.
- do you mean a cubic meter?
- Q:I am working on planning my eagle scout project. It is being done at a local elementary school. Part of it involves building a pathway from their bus area to the entrance so the students don't walk through the grass. The path is about 70 feet long. Would it be cheaper to use cement or to build it out of bricks. Also, which would be easier? Thanks, Johnny.
- Done correctly both require about the same amount of work, but you probably do not want to do cement, you want to do concrete. Cement is the binder that holds the sand and other substances in concrete together. Either brick or concrete will require the right amount of prep work to make sure you get a flat , uniformly thick result and that the sidewalk does not heave or crack due to weather extremes. Since this is an Eagle project you should be talking with a local contractor to learn more so that you can understand your task better and determine which way you want to go. Good luck as you work toward your Eagle award.
- Q:Is mortar the same thing as cement?
- Home Depot and Lowes carry the DIY Thinsets in white and gray. Make sure if you purchase thinset, it is a fortified thinset and just requires water. Some thinsets are quick setting and some require a polymer additive. You should get aproximatly 90 square feet coverage from a 25 pound bag. You can get premixed thinset ready to use for small repairs. Look in the flooring department of your local Home Depot or Lowes.
- Q:This crack has caused a layer of cement wall, about 1/2 inch thick, to fall off. The area of the layer that has come off is about 1ft by 1ft. Do I need to add cement to the wall to fix it? My house is a 1920-40 era colonial so the house is pretty old. The basement wasn't finished, but there was drywall on the wall where the crack was. I removed the wall because of water damage and I found the crack. I am not going to finish the basement, I just want to waterproof the wall, paint it and have the exposed concrete. I plan on doing this myself if it is possible. Additionally I found some thin roots in the wall where the 1/2in layer of concrete came off. Should I be worried about that? Thanks in advance.
- You make reference to the wall being concrete , so I will assume it is a poured wall rather than a block wall. If the wall had just a simple crack, chiseling out the crack about a half inch deep and filling with a Hydraulic cement would work fine. What concerns me is that you say a 1/2 inch X 1ft. X 1ft area has come off. Crumbled I would suspect. The structural integrity of the wall has been compromised by excessive dampness. Basically turning the concrete back into sand. First thing you should do is stop the dampness. This could mean sloping the grade away from the house. Extending downspouts to 3 or more feet beyond the house. Maybe even putting in a sump system. If you don't, any repair you do will not last and just fall off at a later date. I strongly suggest you get a professional to look at it. Hopefully that area is not badly deteriorated. Deal with the problem first, then the consequences of that problem. Once that is done the wall can dry out. Scrape the area with a chisel, then wire brush. Clean the area with a cement etching product, (found at your local home depot) then trowel on the same hydraulic cement mentioned earlier. This product can be applied even when the wall is still leaking and works well, but if you can, do the prep work. There are real good wall waterproof paints available. They are really thick and rolls on like a paste. Works great though. Good luck........
- Q:Im screwing masonite to sheetrock then going over the masonite with a sheet of 4x8 laminate. This is on a wall. I want an adhesive that will give me at least 30sec to get it set right and square. But i dont want an adhesive I have to have constant pressure on for an hour either. Someone told me linoleum adhesive ? I do not want to use contact cement im a newby and need the workability time to get it on right.
- Contact cement is the way to go. Use wood strips to hold the laminate off the wall until ready to attach. Then just working down, remove the spacers. NO pressure need just rub down with a smooth block of wood in a towel. DONE. Did this method numerous times working in restaurants. Laminate makes a washable surface that lasts for years.
- Q:I need to find out hw cement is manufactured on a large scale, and if the answers could be concise and short, and not too complicated that would be great. i dont need you to go into a lot of detail, just outline how it's done.Thank you!
- There are different types of cement but... Portland cement is made by heating limestone with small quantities of other materials (such as clay) to 1450°C in a kiln. The resulting hard substance, called 'clinker', is then ground with a small amount of gypsum into a powder to make 'Ordinary Portland Cement', the most commonly used type of cement (often referred to as OPC). Always the same process just in large volume.
