- Q: I made extra cement that I don't want to throw out. I will be using it again in 22hrs, if I can. It got dark out before I could finish my job so my ? Is how to keep it ready for tomm. I'll be at work all day and can't keep adding water to it
- You only got so much time to work with it before it is history. 2 hours is pushing it. It automatically hardens. 22 hours is half way to fully cured. So boat anchor, paperweight, junk is what you got and you cannot stop it.
- Q: I used bleach to whiten the netting a while back but I forgot to completely wash it out so now they're mad yellow and it's killing me cuz they were my favorite pair. I've heard of Retrobrite and was thinking of using that but I wanted to see if there are other ways to whiten them, like a cleaning gel from Foot Locker, Finish Line or Champs. - You need to use some sort of sauce that is made to whiten sneaker soles. Most of those products will work just as well on any type of rubber, including netting, midsoles, or any other rubber areas on the sneaker. I've heard Air Legends makes good sauce, so I bought a bottle, to use on the netting on my Air Jordan 4 White Cements. I just haven't had a chance to use it yet, but I plan on it this weekend. You can even use it on the heel tabs of the Jordan 4s (the part with the Jumpman logo, or Nike Air for the older releases). PS: For any of you kids out there, do NOT use bleach! It would seem like that would work, but like the OP, it made the netting on my Jordan 4s more yellow than they were when I applied the bleach!

- For 50 blocks, definitely mortar mix, just add water.
- Q: I spoke to a tile guy recently and he told me that only cement board is acceptable for use in bathrooms. He said that green board is not. Why do the sell the greenboard if you cannot use it in bathrooms or areas that will take moisture?
- Greenboard is moisture and mildew RESISTANT not proof. Many local buildings have banned the use of greenboard in high moisture areas due to the fact that they can and many times do break down in time (average 10 years) Cementboard, wire lath and plaster are much better and more permanent solutions. - Q: Im in the middle of planning to build a deck I'm my backyard and was looking through materials and noticed that concrete and cement were listed differently and that concrete was twice as expensive as cement. I'd always thought they were the same so I was just wondering what the differences were and how they work differently.
- Cement is the binder that you use with sand and aggregate to make concrete, or with sand (and sometimes lime) to make mortar. Most usual is Ordinary Portland Cement which has nothing to do with Portland Stone apart from a passing resemblence in colour. Cement is rarely used on its own as it crumbles very easily but when combined with other materials it becomes very strong. Many people make their mix too rich on the basis if a little is good, more is better. It isn't and is a common cause of failure so mix accurately and always use clean water. The set is a chemical (irreversible) one and generates heat. It is only any good in compression though, if you need it to span any distance you need to include steel or other reinforcement in it to give it tensile strength.

- I would apply a thick coat of self-leveling flooring cement/ flooring compound. There are quite a few different types but basically you just mix it up and skim the surface with it until it is fully covered and any low areas filled. It literally levels the surface ready for carpet of other flooring. You can get cement based latex or epoxy resin types. Sika Latex Self Levelling is one product commonly used by DIY's where I live
- Q: I never used to be allergic to anything and then a few years ago developed an allergy to shell fish. Yesterday I was working with rubber cement for the first time and I had a major allergic reaction similar to the ones I would have after eating shrimp. Is there anything in rubber cement that would relate to shellfish? There is nothing printed on the label but it does warn of allergic reactions if you are allergic to latex gloves. Not sure if I am or not but maybe.....given this experience.

Concrete is made from cement, fine aggregate(sand), coarse aggregate(gravel) and water. Other admixtures can be added to make the concrete perform in a given manner, ie: hot or cold temperatures, water reducers, accelerators and retarders. To call concrete cement would be like going to the store for a loaf of flour.(flour is the main ingredient in bread)

- Q: Okay, I have some 4quot;PVC to 2quot;PVC reducer, a 4quot; PVC tank/endcap, and a ball valve. It is going to be under a lot of pressure (70-100PSI), this is my first time bonding PVC so what should i do in steps? I heard PVC Primer then Cement it together. Anything else?
- Make sure your reducer (as well as other parts) are NOT Drain/Waste/Vent, as they are not rated for that much pressure. The main difference is how deep the socket(female) is. If it is about 1/2 inch on the 2 inch side, it won't hold that much pressure. 1/4 turn is all that's needed, and hold for about 15 seconds. Wipe off any excess. It doesn't hurt anything, the glue bonds by melting the PVC, and it will reharden.
