- Q: For my graphics class**Do I simply apply an even coat to one of the pieces I want to glue, wait for it to dry, then apply it?I've been looking for videos. I don't want to mess this up. Also, how do I use this particular tool to smoothen the paper?
- When I've used rubber cement, I've applied a coat to both surfaces to be glued, let it dry until tacky ( when it no longer looks shiny and is slightly sticky to the touch) and then put them together. Putting them together is the tricky part: the rubber cement sticks right away, and it's hard to re-place whatever you're trying to glue, so you have to place the pieces correctly on the first try. I've never used a tool like that to smooth paper (correction: I've never smoothed paper, but when I've used a tool like that I've used it to make neat folds). I would guess the unpointed end, but past that I have no idea. Sorry. If you use the rubber cement properly you can just smooth the paper with your fingers as you glue it down, and you shouldn't need to use a tool at all. Good luck!

- No... don't rip up the carpet until you know for sure what (and when) you are getting it's repalcement. You don't know for sure what you'll be uncovering either... it's it's painted, or stained badly by something in places. Live with the green you don't like awhile longer and try to bear it. (There are worse fates.) Better the devil you know, than the devil you don't.

Add water slowly then mix up add more water a little at a time. If you get it too wet it is not as strong. If you get the mix a little to runny, add more portland cement.

- There are many different types of both cement and glue. Some types of cements are stronger than some types of glue and some glues are stronger than some cements. For instance, polyurethane glue is much stronger than rubber cement. On the other hand, a ceramic cement is much stronger than white household glue. - Dome dweller is not right as the powder is roasted, and crumbling it is not going to restore the chemical properties of the original cement. I use old cement for things that don't matter much - like laying paving slabs, and use about twice as much as fresh cement. It will set fine and perform OK but it is much weaker than good stuff so dont use it for walls or anything important. ?800 is a load of cement - should be 200+ bags? If not you need to look for a better deal - phone some builder's merchants when you are looking for the next lot and get it delivered the day the builders are starting. COver it up or better still keep it inside. Any left over unopened bags will last a long time if they are in a sealed binbag as the paper sack is only moisture resistant, and the cement will pull moisture out of the air to go off like you present lot.
- Q: I was putting together a process book for one of my classes and was gluing some work, using rubber cement, to paper and slipping it in plastic sleeves.
