Fiberglass Ceiling
The tiles are manufactured from high density fiberglass wool.The visible face has a decorative fiberglass tissue and the back of the tile is covered with normal tissue.The four edges of the tile are sealed and have grooves. It can be jointed together without suspended system. The tiles will cover the suspension system after installation. - Q: I'm finishing my basement in a newer home (built in 2005). The main level floor / basement ceiling is built with I-joists 16 OC. The main level is mainly hardwood floor, and I plan to have a home theater in the basement. I'd like to cut down on the noise from the hardwood floor above (walking in shoes is very loud!) and noise from the theater from coming upstairs. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this? I was thinking spray foam would be perfect, but man is that stuff expensive. Any other best bet suggestions?Thanks!

- Foil or no foil, the fitting should have a wire cage over it...you can make this from wire net from your hardware store. The wire cage keeps all the insulation stuff away from the heat source. About 6 inches is needed. Insulation is usually fire proof, but the bulb needs to be allowed to get it's own heat away....or the bulb will blow, or the heat could come the other way and burn its mounting.

- Insulation has a nasty habit of doing this to people. Fiberglass insulation is the worst, as it literally cuts the skin and causes serious rashes and enough itchy feeling that people usually draw blood from scratching so much. Water, soap, and a good scrubbing to start would be good. Watch for pain when scrubbing the area to make sure there is nothing stuck in the area that you could potentially be driving deeper into the skin. Buy some anti-itch cream in the mean time. The rash should go away with time and proper hygiene.
- Q: the fabric lining my jeep's ceiling is missing in the front of my car. came down in bits and pieces and i wasn't able to reattach it. there's a material underneath that looks something like yellow fiberglass??? is that right? is it safe to be exposed to this? i don't use the car much so i haven't had it fixed yet but i'd like to know what i'm dealing with here. thanks for any help!
- its not fiberglass, its a hard resin foam. Will do no harm, unless you chew it up and swallow it or snort it... But being exposed to it is not bad for your health..

- Q: We had our carpets removed a while ago and installed laminate flooring instead.As a result, the house is not as warm as it used to be.Will it help if I add R13 insulation in the basement ceiling ? Will it keep the living room floor (which is just above the basement) warmer ?On the same manner, will adding another layer of insulation to the attic help in the winter and summer as well ?As for the mositure barrier paper, if I understand correctly, it should be facing up both cases, right ?

- On new houses, they insulate the ceilings with fiberglass batts, and use regular drywall on the ceilings. When I remodeled our bath, I used green board everywhere and I tiled the ceiling of the shower. A lot of work, but worth it.
