- Q: I‘m having a problem with my a/c system. the interior lights on the controls no longer come on, and many things don‘t work anymore. the fan comes on blows air, but it‘s no longer heated. and the ducts don‘t move either, for when you want the air from the outside vs inside air circulation. everything was fine yesterday until the thermostat housing was attempted to be taken off.the last bolt wouldn‘t come off. and the housing has shifted a bit from its original place, and wont be budged back. could this have anything to do with it. i checked all fuses and they work fine. any solutions?
- If you want heat, it's carried by the engine coolant. If the engine thermostat housing isn't closed tight, the coolant will all leak out and not carry heat anywhere- the heater, the radiator- not anywhere, and it will stay where you don't want too much of it- in the engine. The engine will overheat very quickly without coolant in it and be damaged badly. The interior heating ducts are controlled, often, by engine vacuum carried by little hoses and some may have gotten knocked loose. Some cars do this wth cables and levers instead of vacuum. You need to look in a good auto repair manual like Chiltons and see where everything related to heating and cooling belongs and make sure it's still there. But before you try to start the engine, fix the thermostat housing. Get a friend who knows about these things to help you and don't let it get dark before you finish working. Since the heater lights don't come on anymore, find the wire that got knocked off and plug it back. How do bolts on an engine near a thermostat get stuck? Maybe it's rusted in place, or stuck with block sealer that was used to stop a leak. Leak stop with sodium silicate will do that, and that's about the best kind of sealer, but the problems it can cause are what you have. I hope you never have to take the head off- some of the head bolts might be stuck too and they are extremely hard- I wouldn't want to have to try and drill out one, and you'd need a diamond drill, or at least carbide. If you break the thermostat bolt, you'll have to drill it out and tap new threads in the hole so a new bolt will go in and hold. That simple job got very complicated, didn't it.
- Q: Abs light is lit. How can I resolve it? And if I want to repair it by myself, what car diagnostic tools should I buy and use. If it doesn‘t repaired, what will happen?
- If you had someone change the brake rotors for you, then obviously they swapped you with some worn/used brake rotors. Go to your local auto parts store and buy new brake rotors yourself at $20 a piece ($40 for 2). If you can change this yourself, that would be ideal. Just jack up your car onto jackstands, remove the wheel, remove the caliper, the caliper mount, and the old brake rotor. Otherwise, bring it to a trusted shop and watch them put in your brake rotors. Mark it with a fat red marker on the surface if you have to. Also, have them use new screws to tighten the new brake rotors onto the hub. If this resolves your problem, look into getting a refund for the brake rotors you purchased.and consider never going there again for repairs - learn how to fix it yourself. Good luck!
- Q: What is the composition of the car lights
- Common internal lights with dome light, reading lights, luggage lights, door lights, stepping lights, instrument lights, work lights, dashboard lights, and so on.
- Q: I just bought a 2003 Corolla 71K miles end of feb. Now i haven‘t had a problem with the car at all but last week i had checked the antifreeze and the over Flow was dry in my old car i Always had it in there (told my mechanic to do so) now the radiator itself looked empty as well but when i filled it it didn‘t take much so im guessing there was some since i didn‘t overheat either. well now last night we went out and did a bunch of things came home got up at 5 this morning for work and my check engine light was on , so we didn‘t drive it. later on we checked fluid they are finei didn‘t get gas or anything i know that sometimes sets that light off but i did mess with it just in case its still on any idea what this lights on for?!?! can i go to like advanced auto part for a test?BTW- I heard that its my oxygen sensor. but if this is true. i just bought the car in feb in which it was also inspected as of 02/09. are they liable? even though my warranty is up?
- ive never even seen wheels 47mm so i dont know wth that guy is talking about. small wheels run like 50 to 53 and then large is above. i dont even know if ive seen 50 for sure for street i recommend about 53 or 52 pretty much any brand is fine i like spit fire tho, i dont like rictas i had bones once they were pretty nice too.
- Q: Took it to Auto Zone and the OBD Trouble Code is P0402 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation flow Excessive Detected? anyone got an idea on a cure for the problem, that and I guess with the trouble code it won‘t read whatever they read to pass emissions - at leats that is how it was explained to me?
- This code is usually caused by a bad DPFE sensor (delta pressure feedback egr sensor) this is a dealer item best to have the dealer check it first, won't take long 1.0 hr
- Q: Funny enough the van runs great, I had brought it from my 76 year old Dad in great condition, it only had 92thousand plus miles on it and it‘s a 1997. I‘ve had it for 2 weeks when the check engine light came on and the speedometer and odometer stopped working. What could be the problem?
- Could possibly be the electronic control module. Take it to a dealer or shop. They should be able to hook it up to a computer that will help them diagnose what is wrong.
- Q: maybe its 1000 - 1500 only does it in nutural and park and drive when at idle runs and drives great doesnt overheat has 154,000 miles i really need some help please i have 3 kids i changed the iac already but nothing changed!!
- check your codes.tps maybe?
- Q: What is the best brand of automotive light bulb brand
- If it is a headlamp like bulbs, or to Philips, OSRAM these brands, is indeed excellent performance, and product quality and stability. Relatively expensive, but good things to their own cars to use, psychological balance, at least than some of the life of brand-name products to be assured that many.
- Q: My 4x4 light blinks when I try to switch from 2x4 into 4x4. I have replaced the 4x4 motor on the transfer case, and a new selector switch. Not really sure if anything is making any noise under the truck. Sometimes the 4x4 will go and the light quits blinking. I do not mind spending some money on this truck as it is my all year long truck. Gotta plow snow and if I cannot get the 4x4 to work properly, I am not making any money. Any suggestions, thoughts, or comments would be greatly appreciated. Oh, I do have the push button 4x4. Also, I can sometimes hear a box behind the dash on the drivers side clicking when I push one of the 4x4 switches. It looks like a silver box, maybe 8in wide by 8in long. I do know that the selector switch wires run from it, and other wires ( I assume ) power wires run to it. Thank you again.
- leave it in d and let the computer computer the shift points.
- Q: can you change the gauges light, because i have green gauges but i want to know if i can install a blue light. also what kind of audio system would you suggest for the escape because it is a double deck? oh and how much would tints cost for my windows??
- How you stop is ENTIRELY judged by speed and distance from your stopping point. The main thing to remember is that PROPER braking requires both brakes applied simultaneously with even pressure. Using your brakes to slow or down-shifting is entirely subjective but you should never coast while slowing with the clutch pulled all the way in. Why? Because if you need power in an emergency you could very well be in the wrong gear and make a bad situation worse. Typically, when I slow down I downshift first and then apply the brakes when coming to a stop. Depending on conditions, you may need to apply the brakes and then downshift - Refer to my first sentence. Anyway, I went to a private school to learn to ride motorcycles and have NEVER had an accident. I have owned and ridden everything from a Suzuki Hayabusa to my Goldwing, so I know what Im doing. Be safe.
