The only exceptions are things like rented movies from XBL marketplace. Just make sure you don't use the new HDD until after you do the transfer, since the transfer completely overwrites everything on the new HDD. The old one will be completely clean after the transfer too. This means that your map packs and game add ons will no longer be on the old HDD, and you won't be able to use them. If you are wanting to use the map packs for 2 different Gamertags without buying them again, the easiest way to do it is to simply recover your GT to your new HDD, and re download them. They will then be on both 360s, and because they are licensed to your old one, anyone using the 360 should be able to use them.

You can get a transfer cable from Gamestop for about $15, then sell it back to them for a few bucks. Yes it's a ripoff but it beats paying $20 for a new cable. I would strongly recommend using the transfer cable.

Link in the source, although I should point out that you are likely to only find a free trial version available. Currently it is up to version 4.04 I believe. If you do a bit of searching you may be able to find an alternative download, I know I have seen many sites selling the full version for much cheaper. It is very handy software to have, it's just unfortunate that Motorola doesn't include it with all their phones.
