- Q: I heard that there is a certain amount of feets where the rnternet cable slows down and then your need to put an switch to extend it more? right?
- I haven't heard of that yet, but then again, I guess that IS why they have so many little green cable boxes around in neighborhoods. I DO know that it's true for satellite though and the cable can't be longer than 150 feet in order to receive good signal from the dish to the house.

- I'm guessing that the Vista transfer cable is nothing more than what's known generically as a Crossover or Null Modem cable. It has nothing to do with Vista, Windows 7 or any other operating system. In fact, it will work with ANY two computers that have Ethernet ports. Could probably work to transfer between a Windows computer and a Mac, even. Hope that helps.

- You will need a router so you guys have have multiple workstations hanging off your DSL modem. Get a Linksys Wireless router and you can use that to connect your laptop to the Internet via a wireless connection. If you want to connect it using a data cable go to the store and ask for a CAT 5 cable. it can be used to connect your laptop to the router via the RJ-45 port (the connector will look like a large phone cord connector). - No you don't need the cable. The 4GB slim has an empty hard drive slot because the 4GBs is inside on the motherboard so all you have to do is slip the 250GB drive in. if he wants all of his content over on the new hard drive, he can do it on the console by going to My Xbox-system settings-memory and move over his profile and game saves.
