Q:i herd that 2 cables in a network (ethernet) cable just carry power. and was wondering which 2 colours or on what side the 2 are.also how much voltage they carry.was hoping to make an easy router mod to stop with the head issues.cheers.
Yes, voltage does run through Ethernet cables. Its referred to as PoE (Power over Ethernet) ethernet cable has 4 twisted pairs. Out of 4 pairs: * 2 pairs are used for data transfer, * 2 pairs are spare and not used. It allows the powering device to use a voltage between 36–57 V DC, though the nominal voltage is 48 V, over two of the four available pairs
Q:i'm using an older mac at uni to do illustration, i pulled the computer round to put a tablet in it and the computer shut down, there are about 20 computers in the lab....the power cable at the back that is connected to the monitor is loose, i tried to put it back in but it's crackling....can i get electrocuted from putting it back in? i can't shut down all the computers so there's still electricity running through...thanks
This is not a prob man i also use my monitor with a wire which is worn out from one terminal all you have to put some electric tape on it
Q:A power cable of copper is stretched straight between two fixed towers. If the temperature decreases, the cable tends to contract; the amount of contraction for a free copper cable is 0.0017% per degree celsius. Show that the stretched cable will snap if its temperature decreases by 128°C.Ignore the weight of the cable and assume Hooke's law is obeyed until the cable breaks. Young's modulus for copper is 11.0 x 10^10 N/m^2 and the ultimate tensile strength of copper is 2.4 x 10^8 N/m^2.
Change in length=(coefficient of expansion)(original length)(change T)= (.0017)(chose your favoret length, I chose 100)( -128 because T is decreeing)=-21.76 Strain = (change in length)/(original length)= 21.76/100= .2176Pa (for simplicity's sake I dropped the negative, rember the wire is in tension) Stress = (youngs modulus)(strain)= (11?10^10)(.2176)= 2.3936?10^10 Pa The UTS (2.4?10^8)<(2.39?10^10) so there is definitely necking and because of the difference most likely there was failure long ago.
Q:Hello,We are having a problem with our power cable and that being that most time whenever we insert the power cable into the back of the laptop the orange light at the front of the laptop does not always light up. We think the problem lays with the power cable, because it has been tugged and dropped before on many occasion. So, is it possible to buy a power cable for our Toshiba laptop, and we have retained the sticker. We think that the Toshiba part no is PA3396E-1ACA and the model no is PA-1650-02.So is it possible to buy a new power cable?
It is possible that your cable may have some broken wires inside that are causing your problem, or it may be the board as mentioned above. The board that is being referenced is the power connector inside your laptop and it's connection to the system board. What can happen is the electrical connections (solder joints) from the connector to the board become broken/loose and you have an intermittent connection. I have re-soldered these for friends when theirs go bad, otherwise a replacement system board would be required. I have also seen where the small leaf spring contact inside the connector becomes flattened and has poor contact as well (if this is the type of connector you have). You could check this with a good light and look inside the hole, there should be a center pin contact and a leaf contact along one side that should come down about halfway into the hole to the pin. To test where the problem is, connect your cord to your laptop, now hold the connection very still at the connector and wiggle, twist, push, and bend the cable at various points to see if the light at the front of the computer goes on or off. Now also test the plug at the computer by carefully moving it up, down, around in various ways to see if the light goes on or off. Wherever you find your problem is where you'll need to fix. If it is the power cable, yes, you should be able to buy a replacement. Try Toshiba's website or google the numbers you have to see what turns up. Hope that helps explain things better. Best of luck.
Q:What type of plastic is a power cable made of? Thanks.?
Power cable isn't made of plastic, it is copper or aluminum covered with PE, PVC, or PTFE plastic.
Q:Hi I have a 94 Cadillac Deville 4.9L and im trying to figure out with cable on my alternator is the power cable and which one is the ground. I have included a pic to help.
Yes,,, the hot wire is on the back of the Alternator,, The ground is on the side.
Q:what wattage do you need, how many power cables going into the graphics card and what type etc
400-500 watts will be fine. I ran mine on a 430 watt antec for about 18 months just fine. FYI - it did run fine on a generic 350 watt PSU for a couple weeks also. You will be fine with 34 amps or more on your 12 volt rail(s). You need 1, 6-pin, PCI-E power cable, or an adapter that comes with most cards to convert 2, 4-pin cables to 1, 6-pin cable.
Q:Hi. I recently purchased an EVGA Geforce GTX 670 FTW video card that need two 6 pins pci-e power cables. The problem is that the 2 in my pc have L shaped dongles in which one can't connect to the video card due to how it's designed. Is there any way to extend the dongle for reach? Are there any adapters that I can add to it? All knowledge sharing and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
That one splits a 6 pin PCI-E connector to two 6 pin connectors. This one is potentially a problem waiting to happen. If power is not adequate you don't want to split a connector to provide power to each plug. If you determined you don't have an adequate power supply then you need to consider replacing it and when you do you should have all the connectors you need for your system. Please do make sure you have adequate power. You could cause your system to not work properly or worse cause permanent damage by trying to run it with inadequate power. Hope that helped! Good luck!
Q:I lost the power cord and USB cable to my HDD case. The company of the case is Intex. On a sticker is says, Intex HDD Case T-350 SA.This was posted a long time ago by someone, but it's the only place I can find the photo.Serious answers only please, I'm not asking if I should get a new one. I just want to know the information on the power cord and cable.
It's a regular USB 2 cable. No idea what sort of power it takes. Can't be a very special power though. Your best bet is to get one of those switchable supplies from Radio Shack and try the voltage one at a time until the drive works. If you go under the drive won't run, so you can't do it that way if you start low and move higher.
Q:And twisted pair cable parallel to the laying of the same route with 10kVA 380V power cable, the minimum spacing between the two cables should be how much? Knowledge related to integrated wiring. The The The The
PLC and computer communication cable, different manufacturers of PLC connection is not the same
