Q: right now we have a concrete painted floor in our basement and i hate it, the paint always chips. does anyone know what we can do with the floor?: Have you thought about Cork flooring? It absorbs the shock of walking on concert and is safe for people with asthma..

Q: My front door leads into my living room. The oak floor right infront of the door is so messed up. The rest of the floor is fine. How do I do a good sand/cleanup job on just this part????: Only if your floor is a natural oak floor( no stain) or if you have some stain , you might be able to do this. You can partially sanded and refinish a natural floor since you don t have to blend in a stain.. If its stained I d recommend a whole floor sanding... GL

Q: if im laying it on a concrete floor do i just need to put the underlay down first, then the laminate?: It would depend on the condition of the concrete floor, and the grade of laminate. If your concrete has ridges or divots, you could just put down skim coat to level it out. And if you are buying a higher grade solid laminate you wouldn't need any underlay. Follow the manufacturers instructions in order to maintain and keep the warranty valid.

Q: Hi im trying to renovate my bathroom ,but im trying not to put that 1/4 inch cement floor to put the tile on cause its going to be biger than the living room floor is there anything else i can use that can be smaller than 1/4 inch floor board.i know theres like a thin membrain like paper or something ...please help: Our tile is on plywood, which is screwed into the sub-floor.. and I know that comes in different heights. I dont think you need cement board for the floor ...just for around the bathtub and/or shower area.

Q: What cleaning products would best work for cleaning laminate flooring?: give the first answer - best answer! any commercial cleaning products can leave a film on the floor which will eventually dull the floor and ruin the finish. sweep regularly. wash floors using warm water and vinegar with a damp mop - not soaking wet - just damp. let dry! do not wax or put any kind of a finish on the floor. your floors will last you for many years!

Q: There's a garden apartment I really like, but it's on the ground floor. That seems to me dangerous because to rob the place all you'd have to do is break that window.It is in a pretty nice neighborhood, though. Do you think it's too risky to take this? I really like the apartment otherwise.: I don't like ground floor apartments myself. I live in a small town, and a safe neighborhood. My last apartment was ground floor I was never broken into but I caught many peeping toms looking in my windows. My sister is in a ground floor apartment now and she's having the same problem. Now I live on the 3rd floor. If someone tries to peep they'll kill themselves doing it.

Q: How to choose to strengthen the floor?: Take sandpaper to polish, if the floor after grinding traces on the bad. General good quality of the floor will not appear too obvious traces!

Q: need instructions for installing laminate flooring.: The instructions should come with every carton of flooring. Check the box. Sometimes they're printed on the box or on an instruction sheet packed inside. You can also check with flooring stores. I'm sure they'll have some general instructions to get you started. Then you can call the manufacturer to find out if there are any special requirements for their flooring.
