Q: alright so I have an image I would like to make into a hook rug but I can't just do it myself by looking at the photo, I need the image printed onto the hook rug base, is there anyway to have that done? can I copy the image onto the hook rug base?
There's an old low-tech technique for copying things like this that's been used for many years. Make a photocopy of your original. Draw a grid over it, using a ruler and being very precise. Or, photocopy your image onto grid paper. Draw a grid on your rug base -- yes, use a ruler and be very precise. Make sure the grid on your rug base has the same number of squares as the grid on your aper. They will be different-size squares, of course, but make sure there are the same nuber of squares. Now, carefully copy the contents of each grid square from the paper to the rug base. Turn the whole thing (yep, both the paper and the rug base) upside-down and work that way if you have trouble copying it right-side-up. You will find it much easier to copy one square at a time, and you'll have an excellent pattern for your rug. Have fun!
Q: Where can I buy cheap carpet tiles?
I found one site, American Carpet Wholesale that had tiles as low as $1 a sq. ft. The FLOR kind is expensive- some are around $5 a square foot. There are a few other sites, with just a simple cheap carpet tile search on yahoo, but many have some ridiculouly high shipping prices.
Q: My friend knocked over her beer on my rug and didn't tell me until the morning after... it smells pretty bad. Any suggestions how to get rid of it quickly and permanently? I don't have many tools to use but i can run to a drug store if i need to.
Try a little washing up liquid in warm water and give it some elbow greece with a hard/soft brush depending on the rug type. If you have fabreeze then give a wack with that also, if not rub some lemon over it and leave a window open for it to dry.
Q: I have a brand new rug that is less than a week old. Every time I lift it up and sweep I have piles of white fine powder. That,s at least 3 times a day. Does anyone know what this is. I 'm thinking of taking it back.
I work in a carpet workroom and if the rug is new it probably is the backing which is drying out. The backings in synthetic rugs are attached with a water base latexed glue for the most part. If you like your rug what I can recommend is that you have a secondary backing put on instead of using a pad. If the rug is going on a hard surface I would have a nonskid backing put on it but make sure the latex it on and not use aerosol. That will give your rug a lot of stability, keep the corners from curling, protect your floor, and also keep the carpet from continuing to powder. The backing should run you about $60 dollars. I dont know what the return policy is on the rug but just to make sure it can be done I would take it to a local carpet workroom have them look at it and make sure they can do it, not all workrooms are experienced as others. That way if they dont think tey can do it you might return it for another rug before your time expires to return your rug.
Q: I saw a rug made out of t-shirts and thought it would be fun to try. I've heard it's pretty easy but I don't know if anyone has a good website or special tricks or helpful hints. Thanks anyone that can help! Also how many t-shirt would I need for what size rug? Thanks.
You can also use the whole t-shirt and make them several layers thick, sewing them together much like a quilt and making a rug that way. But I like the texture of a woven or knitted or crocheted rug, especially when it is made of rags. How many you need depends on many things, such as the size of the rug, and how thin you cut the strips. You will need MUCH more than you think... I know! Collect as many as you can from friends and neighbours and search the second-hand shops for them as well.
Q: I just got my rug back from the dry cleaner and it looks dull and still smells like mice urine. Is there a product that would revive the colors?
Yes. Totally normal. No commercial cleaning solutions remove the urine. No, there is no way to revive the colors, either.
Q: the room is 13x10 (130 sq. ft) and the Shaw brand carpet I want is $2.99/sq ft. at Home Depot. How much would it cost total to buy carpet and have it installed?
The carpet and pad should run you about 30.77/sq yd (26.91 for carpet and 3.86 for padding) on a 12ft x 13ft piece (since carpet is sold in either 12 or 15 ft rolls) is $533.24. Install at 4.95/sq yd is 85.78, however minimum installation charge is $150.00, and you did miss out on the $99.00 install sale, ended 7/11/07. Total cost w/o tax is 685.24 for basic installation and basic padding.
Q: ok so these might be stupid questions but.. can cooler rugs:a)be used under other rugs?b) be left on the horse when out in his field to stay clean?c)be usesd as an anti sweaet rug?d)be usesd as a travel rug?e) be usesd as a stable rug?thanks!!
well ive only ever heard of it being used as a rug you put on after exercise to cool him down.
Q: Including installation fees, padding, taking out the old carpet, and the material, how much would it cost to re-carpet my 17 x 14 foot bedroom with basic brown carpeting?
Basic carpet will go for around 3$ (+-) a s/f installed with a basic pad. You ll need a pc 12x21 and that ll have several T seams along one wall. Or a pc 15x17 and no seams but will be 3 more s/f. I d go seamless and get the extra 3 s/f. If your carpet isn t glue down now and its a standard install , it will run from free rip out to 50 cents a s/f (about 100/125 $) One thing you may run into is disposal of the old and that can run from 75 /100$ All these prices vary from area to area but your looking at 1000$ for all you ve listed. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
Q: Ok i am getting confused here.... The Irian Jaya is the smallest of the three? followed by the Jungel Carpet Python, and then a coastal? if that is correct could i get the...average? measurements on them?
Diamond Carpet Python = averages about 6 ft in length Jungle Carpet Python = a race of the Diamond Python (found along riverine gallery forests in NE Australia)...also averages about 6 ft long Centralian Carpet Python = relative of the Australian Carpet Python (but still found in the arid parts of N. Australia). Known to reach lengths in excess of eight feet. The Irian Jaya averages out at about 4 ft The Coastal Carpet Python gets slightly bigger than the Jaya at around 4.5-5 ft
