Q: should I go with a cream-colored rug with a lighter color? That would give an espresso and cream look...: Yes, it would look nice, and would not get as dirty looking as a cream color rug. And with the solid furniture it will add interest as well. I would add some bright colors in your accessories, just about any color you like will look good. I personally love lighter blues with brown, sage green and brown is a hot combo right now, or warm tones like red or orange would spice it up. Add your choice in pillows, throws, table decor, whatever you love.

Q: My living and dining room are one room. (not a huge room) I bought an area rung which I would consider classic. It has about 9 rows of different color rectangles ( beiges, golds,browns, and burgundies) with a beige border for under my dining room table. I saw another rug with basically the same colors but with more burgundy. It has bigger rectangles that are all different sizes. Some are big stripes and not in any particular order. It is hard to describe. Can I put them together? One in the living room and one under the table? From the end of one to the beginning of other there would only be about 18 inches? Thanks: So what we have here is two area rugs that clash correct? Can you put them together? How close are the rooms to each other? If their close, than no, they don't go together. If you must have both rugs try and seperate the one room from the other, by getting decorative deviders of some sort etc. The deviders are nice looking and will take the focus off of the other rug. Is it mandatory for all apartments to change the carpet?: I have never heard of the tenant changing the carpet. Usually the apartment complex will look at and assess the carpet to determine if it can be cleaned to a reasonable degree. This is done after you have moved everything out and handed in your keys. If the carpet is older than six years (at least in my complex) when the renter is moved out then it is automatically replaced, saving whatever we can for patches in other apartments such as flood damage or burn holes. I recommend having a professional carpet cleaning company with a truck mounted steam cleaner come and give you their assessment on the carpet. Ask them if they think they can get the carpet clean. If not, don't have them do it, as you will be wasting your time and money. As far as the carpet replacement goes, depending on your location ( I'm located in the Midwestern United States) You can figure on about $10.00 a square yard, depending on the installers agreement with the complex and the quality of the carpet and pad it could be a little more or a little less, but $10.00 is a pretty safe estimate.. This is then deducted from you deposit check before it is sent to you. If the carpet is in reasonable condition then you are not charged anything for the automatic steam cleaning that takes place when a tenant moves out. GOOD LUCK!!!

If it's not got a backing on it, he may have had one accident there, then decided to keep using it because you didn't get all the smell out. Use an enzyme cleaner on it, it gets rid of all the organic substances and kills the odor. Any pet supplies store carries several kinds.
