FAQ

Q: What's the difference with cyclonic to multi-cyclonic filtration system?

Multi-cyclonic is where the dust container has a plastic filter section inside and has many little tunnels in it that separate the finer dust and dirt for the next filter and there is no HEPA filter in the middle plastic filter section.

Cyclonic filtration is where there is a central HEPA filter that sits inside the dust container and catches the finer dust.

Q: My vacuum just stopped while I was using it! What do I do now?

All of our vacuum cleaners have been fitted with a thermal safety cut-off switch which activates to stop the motor from burning out. When it does that it will prevent the unit from turning on again until it has cooled sufficiently to reset, which is between 2 – 4 hrs. The most common reason for safety cut-off switch activated is the filters needs to be cleaned. Please read the instruction manual and follow the instructions on how to clean the filters.

Q: I want to gift my mom a vacuum cleaner. What are the main features i must look before buying and what are the advanced premium features? Also, which company's Vacuum cleaners are best (India). Can you suggest any model?usage : 1000 sq.ft house... daily cleaningThanks
Hoover or Nilfisk :) (nilfisch is more expensive but are good)
Q: Do you have any phobias?
Yes; that of bugs, insects, butterflies, creepy crawlers, etc. xoxo, me. ?
Q: I was wondering why my vacuum cleaner was leaving trails of crap all over the place... so I flipped it upside down when it was on, and it turns out it does vacuum (quite powerfully, at that) but all the crap gets shot out of another part of the bottom! What can I do to stop this... maybe it just needs a good cleaning? I don't know much about vacuum cleaners, but I know they shouldn't do THAT..... thanks in advance! :)
Hmm odds are you may have a dirty filter or bag perhaps even a clog while it's normal for things to occasionally be left behind if it's leaving a lot you typically have obstructed airflow, i'm also curious are you using this on a hard floor? i know most uprights are not really made for hard floors as the brushroll will fling things back at ya if this is the case i would suggest getting a bare floor tool
Q: He scared of vacuums, laundry baskets, chairs, dish washer, and strangers it gets so bad that he'll just sit there and shake. Like when the vacuum is on, putting the dishes in the dishwasher, and when strangers come by him
My dog is scared of loud noises, vacuum cleaners, spray bottles, dishes clanking, the stove being turned on etc. The thing that works the best is to give him lots of encouragement. Tell him what a good dog he is, give him treats and encourage him to stand up and be a happy puppy. Do NOT push him into anything though. As soon as you force your dog to do something he is not comfortable with he might snap at you because he is scared and has been abused before. (I think my dog has been, we got him from the humane society). So the important thing is no bullying, no physically shoving him, no hitting. Pet him and have a happy voice. This seemed to really work with my dog in becoming more confident and not as scared. **Also it's important to reinforce his good behavior (or less scared behavior) every time it goes on. My dog sometimes relapses but after encouragement is fine.
Q: What value does Voltage indicate for vacuum suction?
You need to explain this better, it makes no sense as it is. edit: no way to know exactly. Voltage alone tells you nothing. But the power used (in watts) could be a guide, if you have that number, in watts. 1400 mA-hour is a measure of the charge stored in the battery, so that is no help, as you need a time number to convert that to mA, which, with the voltage, can give you power in watts. My experience is that hand held vacuum cleaners are all very feeble.
Q: PleasePlug in Vacuum Cleanerswhen finished
Please= porfavor. plug in a vacuum cleaners=tapón en los limpiadores de una aspiradora. When finished=cuando esté terminado. Here a lil help 4 u: plug=tapón en=on/in vacuum=aspiradora cleaners=limpiadores when=cuando finished=terminado Good luck
Q: What are the filtration methods for vacuum cleaners?
Rely on the cyclone dust cup and HEPA duct filter material filter, a reverse dust, easy to clean: dust cup filtered through the high-speed motor of the vacuum separation and waste gas, and then through the HEPA filter material, air purification, so as not to cause two pollution. The utility model has the advantages that the dust bag is not always changed; the disadvantage is that the dust is cleaned after being finished.
Q: best vacuum cleaners?
Oh boy, open a can of worms. Kirby lovers swear by theirs, Miele swear they are the best, Dyson lovers, ditto. Consumer Reports does not like any of those three. The Sears one (which one I don't remember) got good reviews. I've had an Oreck, it was OK for quick jobs, but dog hair did a number on the brushes and in turn tore the rubber belt. I got real good at replacing them. Eventually the machine fell apart as I was cleaning dog hair so frequently. I have a Rainbow which I like for baseboards, walls, etc and some carpet cleaning. However, my new Dyson does outdo the Rainbow on the carpet but I hate it for walls, area rugs, etc. (it is super powerful but awkward) The Dyson clogs with dog hair and their instructions aren't real good about finding the clog......it wasn't where it said it was but when I discovered where it was and super easy to access, Dyson 28 is back to being a good friend.......for awhile.
Q: The vacuum has a really loud noise to it. At one point I seen grease/oil on the floor while it was running. The noise sounds like it needs grease or something. I'm thinking the bearings, but that's just a guess. Please can someone help or advise of a website where I can find the quot;how to fixquot;. Dyson support was useless. They just said to send the vacuum in or bring to a repair center at my cost. My options aren't big, I live in a very small town that doesn't have many or if any repair centers. Thanks in advance for anyone that can help.
Hi its Darran at Dyson. I am concerned that you have indicated your machine was leaking some kind of oil or grease and neither of these fluids are used in the manufacture of the DC14 or indeed any of our vacuum cleaners. If your DC14 is making a loud noise and is not running correctly, we would strongly advise you take it to a local repair centre or call the Dyson Helpline for assistance. If you are not able to take it to a repair centre, we can arrange for it to be collected and taken to one. We would also recommend not using your Dyson vacuum cleaner until you have this issue resolved. Kind regards Darran Dyson Customer Service
