There are different schools or versions of WCF. There is also th Tibetan White Crane, which is related to the Lama Fist. I have no real knowledge of Tibetan style. First thing is, if you are referring to the Fukien WCF: it is not like most martial arts you are familiar with. It was developed by a woman named Fang Chi Niang. Her father was a master of the 18 Lohan Style. It is an Internal art that uses concepts, movement and intention as the foundation of its arsenal. White Crane fist will develop the ability to execute explosive power against an attack. There really is not too much punching-type striking. When you see a closed fist, it usually is a grappling technique. Palm thrusting, claw grapples, spear hand and finger thrusts are used. The foundation training for WCF is San zhan, also spelled San jan or San Chien. The latter is the closest since it is a Fukienese art. San Chien develops power and rootedness. Fukien WCF has influenced the Five Ancestor Fist, which contains WCF concepts. It is also the predecessor to what is known today as Karate, both the Shuri and Naha lineages. If you are fortunate enough to have a Fukien WCF school near you, you would be a fool not to take full advantage. I have to travel an hour to see my Sifu. And if I had to travel more, I would. - Q: Could anyone tell me how they erect a construction crane.Some how they just are suddenly THERE, as If by magic.It seems as though the Boom part of the crane must be kind of JACKED up into place.That is the only way I can see them getting those GIANT concrete blocks into the back end of the boom. The only other thing I can thing of is the bulk of the pieces are brought in by helicoper and attached.Everything kind of makes sence except the Giant concrete blocks used as a counter weight. ALSO, if the blocks are needed to act as counterweigth to the CRANE itself..why doesn't the Crane fall over when it picks stuff up???

- Q: What are the common problems encountered in hiring cranes for house constructions?
- Access, I assume you need a Franna. Possibly for frames and or trusses to the second level or steel beams. You will be limited by reach if the crane can only access the front of the house. In which case you may need a slew crane 30t or larger. Know the weights of what has to be lifted and the distance from the crane to where it will be placed. A crane cannot set up or travel over underground services or recently filled excavation. These things could mean the crane has to set up even further away from the house. If the crane is for unloading trucks, access again. Cranes need to stay about 3meters from power lines which is a common problem bringing gear onto site. While a slew crane generally sets up in one position for all lifts (some can travel) a Franna is designed specifically for pick and carry. It can unload trucks and travel the gear onto site under the power lines. Provided it isn't lifting extra large items. Speak with the provider about what has to be done, it will be all to familiar for any decent company. As long as access is fine and underground services won't hinder you they should know exactly what you need. Be prepared, usually a minimum 4hr hire. If you think the task is going to take longer you need to plan what has to be done and have everything ready for placement. Organization is paramount, you don't want a crane and it's crew sitting there doing nothing because you didn't plan ahead.
