But lead acid batteries would need to be of a higher capacity to guarantee that power level for 1/2 hour, which calculates to 75 kW-hour. I'd say 100 kW-hour capacity. A large 12 volt battery can store about 100 amp-hours which translates to 1 kW-hour, so you would need 100 of this size batteries connected in series/parallel. I made a lot of guesses, you should get better numbers for the motors, the inverters and batteries for a more accurate calculation. An inverter of the size needed will not be a 12 volt unit, but probably 48 or 96 volts DC. so you need to configure your batteries in series parallel to get that voltage. Altogether, the 100 large batteries make this not a practical solution. There are lots of large cranes in the world, what do they use for backup? And why do you need backup. With no power, the clutches would keep the crane and loads fixed in position, my guess.

- Build form the top, when they build these huge cranes, they build the top section, lift that up and build the next section underneath it, set it down to release the lift off the top section and lower it to the second section. Lift those 2 sections from the bottom, build the third section underneath it, and so on. You need to lift securely, like on all 4 sides for stability, and that leaves the corners free to build the next section.

- I am sorry I do not know where are you from as different country might have different requirement on getting a Crane Operator licence. Anyway, I believe the basic is the same: You need to attend a theory class on crane operations which usually include topics like design theory of cranes, slinging and lifting, signalling. They did not give a number for the birds in captivity so I cannot give you a total. You can follow the reintroduced whooping crane population and their migration each spring and fall on the Journey North (in fall called Journey South site). They also track song birds and hummingbirds and monach butterflies.
