- Q: Im going to put tile floors in my home, and working on a budget so i cant spend too much. question is I am undecided regarding the color, i found a brownish color tile kinda like sienna not to dark 16x16 and another beige with cream and is glossy with a design etch on it really nice, but in a 12x12 i think. anyway, i really like the sienna color for the living room, kitchen, foyer and hallway, but i dont think it would look right in the bathroom, i like the beige for the bath. i have a very small bathroom so wold it look weird to have two diffrent tiles in a home? i plan to paint my living room in a grayish blue color french blue i think its called with white trim but still undecided in bathroom i really need some advise on this so if anyone knows please help
- You can use as many different styles of tile that you choose since you won't be viewing both rooms at the same time. The 16 x 16 would work fine if your kitchen is a decent size. I have a rather small bathroom and I installed 12 x 12 tile on the floor, walls, and shower enclosure and I love it. The less grout you have to deal with, the easier it is to take care of tile. Installation was messy (it was my first attempt at laying tile), but I would do it over in a heartbeat. By the way, I was told you have to have at least 1/2 inch spacing between tiles, but that just isn't so. I would have been better off using a 1/4 inch spacing.
- Q: I want to lay tiles on my concrete driveway, is that possible. I don't want to hire the expert to demolish the concrete, pave it with gap sand and the usual stuffs. I know how to do indoor tiles layering, but wasn't sure regular tiles will hold up 3 tons of vehicle weighs. Anyone knows any other way. Thanks.
- You can tile the sides of your driveway, but I don't reccomend tiling the entire driveway. You can use bricks for your driveway...but thats the only thing you can use besides concrete and tar. Anything else will be a hassle and will cost useless money.
- Q: My house is 55 years old. They had vinyl floring in the bathroom. We wanted to replce the flooring but when we hauled up the vinyl, theres 2inch ceremic tiles underneath. I think the vinyl was glued down because the tiles are a mess. We bought some vinyl flooring to put back down. Whats the best way to do this? We were going to but 1/4 round but now the floors are tile underenath, and the walls are tile as well so we can‘t nail it in.
- I had the same kind of bathroom. In the hardware store they sell an adhesive called liquid nails. We used that. Be aware, it can make a mess if you're not careful.

- Absolutely cannot tile atop laminate. Neither ceramic or vinyl tile can go atop a laminate. You said your on a slab so you can bond right to that normally . You won t know what you ll need as far as to treat the slab until you pull stool and laminate. Stool should go right back on w/ a wax ring if laminate is down now. I don t chance it. I get the slightly higher wax ring w/ a sleeve when I re install a stool. When tiling around a stool flange just cut/nip the tile almost up to it, you have almost an inch of play. - The best answer, of course, is to pull the tile. If you want, however, you can go right over the top by gluing a sheet of 1/8 or 1/4 sheet product (lauan or cheap paneling) over the tile using mastic. Making sure it is level and solid, you can then apply laminate directly over the top. I've done it on two remodels on rental properties and it worked just fine.

- If there are 121 tiles and both tiles and floor are square, this means there are 11 by 11 tile used on the floor (square root of 121 is 11) So if we exclude the edges, this means we have 9 by 9 tiles And there are 9 tiles on each diagonal but the one in the center is shared so we have total of 9+9-1=17 tiles on diagonals of this inner tiles with 9 by 9 So for 9 by 9 tiles we have 9x9=81 tiles and excluding 17 tiles on diagonals; the answer is 81-17=64 tiles.

- Vinyl tiles are not a very good flooring for bathrooms. Sheet vinyl is 100 times better. I'd replace them totally, its better to do that, than get warped floor boards and a stained ceiling. Sorry to say this, but I'm a professional floor layer and I fit these tiles aswell as sheet vinyl, and I advise customers against the tiles, their cheap and easy to install, but they are a mediocre flooring.
