Thanks!: I think I understand your question, the tiles you can't skate on unless you have roller hockey skates, it's called sport court. I play roller hockey and ice and the tiles for roller SUCK! If I were you I'd just go fin a certain kind of paint I can't recall the name of the brand, but paint the garrage floor with it and you can skate in there and stick handle if you have enough room. Q: I redid my floor in november using the sticky tiles I purchased from Family Dollar. I wanted to take the tiles off. Is there a easy way to do this without spending lots of money?: Heating the tiles up will make for easy removal.But you cant just use a standard hair dryer. Rent a commercial heat gun. Q: My new home has a kitchen with glazed ceramic tiles covering most of the walls.The colour is basically honey brown, but there‘s a hideous purple border (in the same tile size shape) running horizontally vertically all over the place - I‘d say that 20% of the tiles are this colour.I want to reduce all the tiles to one (new) colour.Two guys (both pros) have this to say:GUY 1: Cheapest solution (and least noisy/disruptive) is to use a ‘glass enamel paint‘ over the tiles. Q: Hi Folks,Currently I have a bath tub with a vinyl shower surround. I‘m considering removing the shower surround and replacing it with tile.I‘m just wondering how big of a job this is? I‘ve never tiled before but consider myself handy and have done plenty around the house.Of note, I don‘t believe proper backboard is underneath the surround so I‘d have to put that up also. I‘ve put drywall up in the past so I think that part should be ok.So...is this a do it yourself job? Or is this something that needs to be hired out for. Seems like it should be simple, but maybe I‘m missing something and it gets complicated or difficult to make come out nice?Also, how long should this take if I did it myself (days and hours per day) and how long before I can start using the shower again.Thanks!: Start by getting a good tile book that throughly covers shower stalls. I recently remolded a bathroom that started as a simple hey lets tile the shower project. The job can get as big as you make it. In my case I pulled out the standard shower shell existing bath tub, knocked out a closet and turned a standard shower stall into 30 sf showering paradise with a jucuzzi bathtub. First of all, anything you put tile on besides concrete has to have a cement board behind it! (Hardibacker or similar-available at your home improvement stores). There will be lots of dust from removing any existing drywall so use a good quality mask like a painters mask too. I would plan on it taking a couple months if you plan on working on it during the evenings or weekends. My project took nearly 6 months of evenings and weekends and forced my wife and I to share a bathroom with 2 kids-worth it in the end but I probabbly wouldn't go thru it again. If you remove your old shower, you'll be dealing with an new drain as you'll have to build the foundation for the tile out of deck mud. Lowes' or Home Depot did not carry deck mud so I bought my from the local tile store. You can mix you own as a lot of web sites have lots of info on this but I bought mine premixed. You can use the existing shower pan but I preferred the feel of tile vs. the shower pan, not only that my shower is a completely custom shape so I couldn't get a pan to cover it. If your not sure how to build the base, stick with the pan or you can mess up things and end up with leaks that you do not want.

Q: I have a tile shower that is looking rather shabby. I‘ve been considering ripping the tile out and re-doing it, but I was given the suggestion of professionally refinishing the tile. Has anyone ever done this? What is involved? I‘m okay with the tile, but I‘d like it to look nicer than it does with out spending a ton of money.: I just saw on DIY that they painted these ugly pink tiles with an enamel paint so they were white, It's really toxic so you have to wear a special face mask when painting. It didn't look all that great to me- they taped the edges but it went over. I'm sure if it was professionally done it would look nicer. You should price it out to see the difference in cost.

Q: is it fine to set ceramic tiles over existing vinyl flooring?would it be better to use mastic or mortar?how to prepare such a surface?tia: No,you cant do that .Vinyl must br removed first,you cant tile over hard wood floor either.If removing the vinyl is too difficult,you can just leave it down and use cement boards over it.You can get them at any home improvement stores,they come in 4x5 sheets,and are screwed with dry wall screws into the wood floor.They are designed for that purpose,and pretty easy to work with,and cut,as you only need to score it with a utility knife and bend to brake,.

Q: hi, we need to put tiles for a room of size 10x16 fts . we will be using 2x2 ft vitrified tiles. I want to know how many tiles are required and how the cost of tile is defined in shop. (price is for 1 piece or 1 sq feet ?): You need 40 tiles plus scrap. Tile is priced per s/f So if your looking at a display tile it might say 8$ but the s/f price to compare to other tiles would be 2$ a s/f Same goes for 18x18 , 16x16 etc.. Q: can you paint over bathroom tiles? if so what kind do i need?: Yes, there is tile/ceramic paint- several brands- all stocked by home improvement stores. The key element is the prepping. The old tiles and grouting need to be clean -and then cleaned again with the manufacturers suggested cleaner. You can decorate tiles, or change the color of the entire wall. Once the paint is dry, it is waterproof . It takes a bit of time, but with care, you should be able to do almost all the cleaning prep the day before and then just do the final cleaning and paint on the project day. Worst case, do one wall at time. It does not hurt to practice the entire process on one tile- preferably the tile hardest to see when you are on the outside looking in.
