- Q: the bathroom at work has lenulium sheet. I slip when it rains, b cos it is wet. I want to replace home carpeting with tiles or vynal. which one is less slippery? thanks
- They are equally slick. If deciding on tiles, I recommend some with texture. It helps. I have torn my ACL and went through the tile vs. vinyl. textured tile also hides any scratches etc.
- Q: I purchased a DIY tile backsplash kit which costs originally $134.00. Kit includes 15 sq feet of tile, grout and tools needed to install. Lowe‘s sells the kit. The problem is the color is not the color I need. So I have this bright idea to paint the tile the color I want. I only paid $40.00 for the kit. I called one of the paint suppliers and they told me a spray paint I could use for the glass tile, however, I am afraid tha after I paint the tile, install it and then add the grouting, it may take the paint off!. I don‘t know, if it would or not. I was thinking I could spray polyurethan over the tile before I grout it or would that work? Not sure what to do. This kit is a new method for putting up a backsplash in your kitchen. It is actually peel and stick and then you must grout within 2 hours.

- Vinyl tile , sheet vinyl, laminate flooring, wood (iffy)or carpet are the best choices for a mobile home. Ceramic is never suggest or recommended for a mobile home.There is just to much natural deflection to have ceramic hold properly. - Q: How many pieces of a tiles are there in general?

- Q: Do you fill up the grout all the way to the top or only upto inner edge? We filled it up to the inner edge, but now the grout and the tile edges are starting to collect dirt very easily and it is very hard to clean. We are thinking of regrouting all the way to the top so that it will be easier to clean. Is that the correct way to grout these tiles?
- Most all tiles ( there are exceptions) are always grouted flush to avoid a couple of things. One is the problem your having now and the other is to protect the edging of the tile.depending on just how much more you have to fill in, you make have to dig some grout out to get a proper bond.. - Q: We bought the tile. Our wall has new drywall behind (unpainted and clean). We are putting the tile from above the backsplash to under the wall cabinets. Can you please answer my questions:1) Do you prep the walls with anything? We bought this tub of stuff called Thinset... Is this the actual adhesive or is there something else used to put on afterward?2) We are doing our longest wall with counter and sink/window then corner and over to counter and stove then counter. Where would the starting point be? Corner or one wall?3) The wall cabinet on the open end is about 1/2 inch in then the base cabinet right below. If we start the tile from the bottom, when you get to the top, the tile will hang out from the wall cabinet by the 1/2 in. Do we use a straight line from the wall cabinet or base cabinet and it be off either way? 4) The tile is not coated or shiny. Once they are applied to the wall and then grouted and wiped clean, do you apply any coating?
- you need spacers...( couple $'s a bag, only 1 bag needed..)You need to grout the tile after applying to the wall, wait 24 hrs or as the mortor says....I would recommend a grout sealer- they can be brush on or spray on..the grout will collect dust, grease and be a nightmare to clean ... in bathrooms you normally put backerboard before tile( it is made of concrete and keeps the water from penetrating to the drywall...imagine having to rip out the dryway and re do it....If they are simple sq tiles, no pattern involved, then you can start at the edge/ end...if you want the corners to be 2 perfect sqs meeting- that is where you should start- then you won't have a cut piece butting up to an uncut or two cuts meeting (this is what sounds right for your project) ...you can use the backsplash as a base---to support the tile as it dries. Use painters blue tape to help hold it to the wall until then....do one row all along the backsplash using the backsplash as support and a small piece of tape securing it to the wall until the mortor takes hold..remove the tape to start on the next row up and secure with tape as before... ntinue until done. Use spacers 1/4 to keep things straight...use a level to get 1st row straight, snap chalk line/ draw line... PLEASE- double check your thinset to be sure it is recommended for your size tile and for wall use...the premixed stuff has a tendency to shrink up as it dries (and it stays wet for a VERY long time esp in high humidity/ moist areas)...causing your tile to come free from the surface it is attatched to... I would get a small bag of the real, mix it yourself mortor- it is concrete and dries as such... I have used the premixed stuff and had terrible results. Have fun!
- Q: I was watching HGTV and they had this tile that was flexible. It looked like alot of small square tile mounted to a flexible backing. Does anyone know the name of these? Thanks
- that's many times completed yet, the great yet.....the floor, the winning floor should be great clean. pass to homestead Depot and get a gallon of Armstrong: Latex primer. As I suggested, clean the floor genuine good, make particular there are actually not any dips that are sharp or humps that are sharp. No grains of sand, those will look as though mountains under the hot tile, that's superb to try this in stocking ft. consistently checking for dirt and combing each and all of the time. do no longer placed the hot tile over an identical line yet pass them. earlier you start up, placed an outstanding layer of primer down with a curler and anticipate it to dry thoroughly. If there is areas between the previous tile that are fairly far aside, I even have used a filler to fill those.

- Yes you do get tile cement that will stick to smooth surfaces. You can all so rough the surface up with a coarse sandpaper. You do get a bonding liquid that you apply before you put the tile cement it helps with the bonding. Just make sure the counter top isn't flexible because that can cause problems All so make sure when you fill the tile joins with grout that it fills it good and make sure your grout is water resistant
- Q: i don‘t even know how to explain what i want to ask.. but here i go....how do you make sure they come out straight. i know how to lay them but how do you make sure the second row comes out straight at the other end. I guess i need help lining them. chalk line will help but how do i do it. is there a website or video that may help me. ((( i lay down the first row along the chalk straight line. i then lay down one half tile at the end of the first tile row. then i continue with the full tile so i can get a staggered look. but how do i make sure that the second row is dead on? help if you can thanks. also if you have any other advice for laying staggered floor tile let me know. thanks.20x20 Porcelain floor tile.
