- Q: How would your car run if u did not have one on it? Do u really need to have a pcv valve? I have a 1994 Ford Econoline
- PCV Positive CrankCase Ventilation, its designed to vent out the gases that leak past the piston into the crankcase. The valve is more for pollution reduction as the vented gases are recirculated back in for combustion, So you don't need it but its nice to keep the air clean,

I have everything up and running when using one thermostat and connecting the thermostat wires (red directly to tv, Brown directly to W, and white directly to T) and not using the two Honeywell zone valves (model number V8043F. How do I connect those two zone valves to the L8148E aquastat?The valves have on bottom Th-TR, TH and TR and the two top screws are labeled end switch.If you need photos I can take them :)Thanks in advance!

- Q: The hot water shutoff valve to the washing machine was dripping. I removed the packing nut and put in new packing over the weekend. Problem is that the packing nut seems to only go back on at an angle no matter what I do...it may have already been that way though. The valve isn't currently dripping, but I'm not liking the way the packing nut only goes on at an angle. Would it be crazy to keep the existing valve if I keep an eye on it and over time it doesn't drip, or is it too risky to keep this valve given that the packing nut is on at a funny angle? (Local plumbers here in Northern NJ all want around $350 if I were to replace both the hot and cold with a watts single handle valve.) Thanks, J.
- A new valve is around $6. If you were able to do the work you did you certainly are capable of replacing the valve by yourself. That plumber is yanking your chain.
- Q: sprinkler valve leaking
- Most valves are either 3/4 or 1 with female connections. Use the same size male adaptors with teflon tape wraped around the threads and screw it into the valves. Take a photo before you start to refer to when rewiring.
- Q: Hi there - We have an old house with galvanized steel pipes. Our main water shut off valve leaks -- the leak is from the packing nut. A plumber came out yesterday and tightened it, and it now barely leaks at all, maybe one drip every 24-48 hours (which it probably has been doing for the 6 years we have lived here, we just didn't know when we bought the place). Rather than replacing the whole valve (which, apparently, has a high liklihood of breaking the pipes in the foundation, requiring jackhammering and whatnot), we are thinking of installing a new shut off valve higher up on the pipe, where I guess it's less likely to break. If we go for the second valve, is there a way to close up that old valve (hydraulic cement, tape, solder, etc.), so it doesn't leak at all? The tiny leak is coming from the stem of the handle - can we remove the handle and cap it off or something? (And thanks to those of you who answered my husband's question about the pipes yesterday!)
- with my background in replacing galvy with copper or even new galvy is not that your problem is fixing the old valve, but replacing that one with a new one and new lines to the house. your first problem is is there another shutoff at the street meter and if so, shut it off and replace from the meter to the house and add new ball valve at the street on your property and another at the house before entering the foundation. getting through the foundation is a whiz as the removal of the old pipe will enlarge the hole enough to allow new pipes to enter. on the inside, install another gate or ball valve if accessible so you thru a basement and then feed copper throughout the home. The electrolysis that the other person is speaking of is a valid point, but i believe in doing thing right. add a union between the galvy copper (6.00) and forget about it . sometimes if you have a lot of iron in your water, rusting will start in a year and destroy your couplings...so do it right.
- Q: 1st valve: this valve used to never cause me trouble at all. THen, suddenly it would stick at the end of the press. I took it home, washed it, cleaned out the casing with the casing brush, cleaned out the holes with a mouthpiece brush, and wiped it clean. Then, i put a bit of oil and it worked fine. Then next morning, i took it out for a second and found it was sticking again. It worked fine afterthat, but why would a valve to that?2nd: this valve is very troublesome. One day, i dropped my trumpet (not like down the stairs or anything, just while sitting) and this valve just messed up. What happened, was that when the valve was screwed in all the way, it would be stuck. however, when i unscrewed halfwayor a little less it worked amazingly well. Can a slightly unscrewed valve affect your playing (aside from the clicking noise). Can a valve get dented, causing this?
- I think the reason why your valves are sticking is because they are building up sludge from being oiled too much, and yes, that does happen frequently. Remove the valves carefully, wipe them off thoroughly with a clean cloth, replace them correctly, and lightly oil them. Then try pushing the valves a bit before playing.
- Q: The diablo tunner says you can cut off your EGR valve, only if your going to take it off. What effect will this have on the car?

- You can absolutely use one with a higher btu rating., but not with a higher pressure rating. Just be aware that this valve has a much lower blowoff point than a typical hot water heater tp valve, so be very sure of the PRESSURE rating on the new valve. (should be 30 psi, just like the old one) You may want to check to be sure that your expansion tank isn't water logged, and that your boiler pressure isn't too high.(shouldn't be much more than 15psi or so, unless you have a multi story house). Expansion tank or water feeder pressure regulating valve may be having issues,....sometimes there's a reason why the tp valves leak. Hope this helps

Other causes of chest pain include musculoskeletal, anxiety, heartburn, etc. The treatment for these other causes of chest pain would be different than that for MVP and this is why it is important to determine the exact cause. The lifestyle modification that has been found to be effective for MVP symptoms like chest pain includes aerobic exercise training, the avoidance of stimulants (caffeine), alcohol and undue fatigue, and a reduction in stress. Regular aerobic exercise in people with symptomatic MVP was associated with decreased anxiety, increase general well-being, and a decrease in the frequency of chest pain, fatigue, and dizziness.
